NASA performs critical climate science research -- its satellites track hurricanes like Maria, Harvey, and Irma, and the wildfires in California -- and the pollution fueling these disasters. Yet, Trump has nominated Jim Bridenstine, a member of Congress from Oklahoma - not a scientist - to run NASA. But Bridenstine is a climate denier. In 2013 he demanded that President Obama apologize for spending NASA money on global warming. Furthermore, Bridenstine seeks to privatize space exploration, selling off NASA's critical role to for-profit corporations. NASA needs to be kept out of politics. Florida's two senators, Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio, have already voiced concern about Bridenstine's political baggage. And, equally important, NASA needs to be run by someone who respects science. Not climate denier Jim Bridenstine.

A 2-year-old boy named A.J. is fighting for his life. And Emory University Hospital is refusing to perform a life-saving kidney transplant operation because of his father, Anthony Dickerson has a criminal record. Anthony is a 100% match to donate a kidney to his son--but after a probation violation, hospital administrators are denying him the chance. A.J. was supposed to have the surgery this month, but the hospital canceled, saying "we need you to be on good behavior for three to four months before you can give your son the kidney. And January 2018 we will think about re-evaluating you." This is a cruel and heartless decision made by Emory University Hospital. A young boy's life is at risk. There is no time for the hospital to push its own agenda and act as its own judge and jury. The systemic racism that exists in the criminal justice system pours into our communities' abilities to live their lives and make free choices. Everyday returning citizens are making their way out of the vicious confines of the prison industrial complex only to struggle to gain fair access to jobs, housing, education, and healthcare. This also has a lasting impact on families and our entire communities. To put an extreme barrier like denying one's son's right to live is not only devastating but inhumane. We all have a duty to help push Emory University Hospital to save this boy's life and do the right thing now. Sign the petition.

We the People need to say very little. Bernie Sanders is the only trusted politician to run as the opposition candidate to both Donald Trump and his Corrupt Adminstration in 2020. The health of (both) our Country (and our Planet) is in crisis and there is no one else who can unite the progressives, independents, liberals, and fallen Republicans like Bernie can. Senator Kruse's offensive behavior is an embarrassment to our district and the county he comes from. He has numerous examples going back decades of misogynistic or unacceptable behavior and comments toward and about women. His remark to me in a town hall, shouting "DO YOU KNOW HOW EASY IT IS FOR A WOMAN TO ACCUSE A MAN AND GET A RESTRAINING ORDER???" does not show that he is ready to work with and among women in 2017, especially with regard to policy that keeps them safe from harm. His remark to me, in his offices that "YOU CAN'T STOP BAD PEOPLE FROM DOING BAD THINGS" shows a lack of understanding or concern for stopping bad behavior. Don't police, counselors, teachers, judges, and parents all stop bad people? Of course they do. But Jeff Kruse does not allow for that, and, living in this irresponsible moral fringe where good is what you can get away with and bad is getting caught is unacceptable to us from any public official Especially a state Senator.

On Monday, October 30, special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia collusion investigation broke new ground — former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business associate Rick Gates were indicted, and Trump adviser George Papadopoulos pled guilty to lying to the FBI. With this new flurry of activity, it’s quite possible that Trump could make good on his threat to fire Mueller any day. It is more important now than ever that Congress pass bipartisan legislation protecting special counsel Mueller from being fired. A number of bills have been introduced to stop the White House from interfering in this critical investigation — and we must pressure Congress to ensure that doesn’t happen. The bills introduced would ensure that special counsels could only be removed by a panel of three federal judges, meaning that Trump would not have the final say if he tried to fire Mueller. Republicans and Democrats must know that you expect them to stand up to Donald Trump and allow the investigation to continue no matter where it leads. We must find out the truth.
