  • Repeal GPO and WEP Provisions that attack Public Sector Retirees
GPO and WEP penalize thousands of retirees; 79% of them are women. Loss of earned benefits is severe, often resulting in substantial lifestyle reductions and even poverty for first responders, fire and police personnel, who may have come from the military, as well as teachers, librarians, air traffic controllers, secretaries and others whose fully-earned Social Security from previous jobs will be cut back when they retire. Their spouses suffer loss as well.

  • New Hampshire: Abolish Superdelegates within the Democratic Party
It is imperative the Democratic Party return to a party by and for the people. Superdelegates are contrary to the nature of democratic elections and one person, one vote. The sooner we move to eliminate the undeserved influence of superdelegates, the stronger the Democratic Party will be. It is imperative we win back the trust of those we lost in the last election over this issue.

  • More Than Black And White
Personally experiencing racism in high school in 1994-1995 (Wedowee, AL), I was told that I was a "mistake" because my mother is black and my father is white and he, the "leader", did not want the students to take someone outside their race to the prom, which prompted him to cancel the prom. Alabama allowed him to continue teaching after several known problems due to segregation on buses, speaking against dating other races, harsher treatment to black students, etc. Alabama only swept problems under the rug, or in this case, the school was burned down and the dust flew while the principal was promoted to superintendent, as people of color were left once again to keep it all together and wondering why did our state let us down again?

  • too cold for school
Many students have gotten sick due to freezing weather, it's not okay for kids to be standing out at bus stops in the cold. Some schools have outside campus's where students are forced to walk outside to go to their classes. Due to freezing cold weather it can cause ice on the roads and lead to many car accidents.

  • Georgia is NOT a S##T Hole
Elected officials who lie on behalf of our lying POTUS have no place in our government. Especially when the lie covers up President Trump's bigotry. I am both saddened and outraged at how easy it was for Senator Perdue to cover up for President Trump. If he can't tell the truth about this how can we trust anything he does? By extension Senator Perdue reveals himself as a racist which is totally and absolutely unacceptable to me. All of Africa and many other nations around the world are outraged by Trump's obvious problem. It weighs negatively on the honor and dignity of our nation and all of our people. Let Senator Perdue know his cover up is unacceptable.

  • Save Mission St.! We need affordable housing!
The Mission District is over the amount of market-rate housing that was calculated in the 2008 Eastern Neighborhoods Plan. We are in dire need of affordable housing. This project provides 75 Luxury units, only 8 affordable and is 8 stories high. This project also has negative health impacts on the SFUSD public school children next door. Please uphold our appeal and protect our children! This will be heard at the Full Board of Supervisors, February 13, 2018. This project is at 2918 Mission St. @ 25th. • Allow book donations, care packages, and visitors for prisoners
Pilot programs are being conducted in some New York prisons that require inmates to purchase books from approved vendors, and care packages are additionally restricted. Various prisons nationwide are cutting off the option of in-person visitation in favor of online visitation. Despite breaking the law, our prison population is still human. Humans require social contact. We should be opening as many avenues to personalized connection with the outside world as possible for the prison population. We should not be focusing on finances and expedience over the humane treatment of the people under the control of our justice system. Care packages and donated books should be allowed; if contraband is an issue, we should invest in airport-style security screening. In person visitation should never be withheld. We are all personally affected by how we treat those lowest on the rungs of our society.
