I have never seen a petition about these two specific issues together and I think it's about time one was created.

  • Demand Human Rights Education at Catholic Elementary and High Schools
When I was in grammar school and high school, I was given no human rights education and no sexual education. People at my schools were also treated very differently based on gender. In high school, I was drugged and raped by a classmate. Being a child with no sex education and no awareness of my own human rights, I did not know that it was rape. I thought it was my fault, and did not even see it as the crime that it was. It took me 11 years to demand that people listen to me and acknowledge what happened to me for what it was: rape. I am still suffering from PTSD 12 years later. I urge you to sign my petition to prevent future children from suffering like I did. You can view an example of the type of curriculum I'd like to see implemented here: http://www.popcouncil.org/research/its-all-one-curriculum-guidelines-and-activities-for-a-unified-approach-to-

  • Expel Roy Moore from the Senate
This isn't about Democrats or Republicans, it's about decency and who we want making our laws. Moore stands accused of pedophilia. He also thinks Muslims shouldn't be allowed to hold public office and that being LGTBQ is a crime. Moore has shown, through his words and actions, that he is unfit for office and cannot be trusted to make laws that will impact the lives of all Americans. The measure I propose may sound extreme. Republicans have majorities in both houses of Congress so they don't need votes from Dems to keep the government running. Republicans also have the power to keep Moore out of the Senate should he win. I'm simply asking for clarity from both sides. With any luck Doug Jones will win and this petition won't matter. Just in case, we need to show what we stand for, what we value.

  • Mike Bishop: Save Graduate Education
This waiver is crucial for the future of research into science, medicine, climate change, and technology. It will make our nation less competitive and lead to relinquishing our status as home to the world's leading research institutions.

  • Sign now: Demand Congress rein in drug prices, not reward the greedy Pharma Big 10
If Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans pass their massive tax cuts largely benefiting the richest 1% and wealthy corporations, a big winner will be the pharmaceutical industry, which wields enormous power through a small army of corporate lobbyists. A new report by Americans for Tax Fairness highlights how Big Pharma has price gouged the American people while stashing $500 billion in untaxed profits offshore. And under the Trump tax scam, they will get a tax cut of about $80 BILLION on their offshore profits. Sign the petition today and demand that Congress reject a tax plan that rewards drug companies that rip-off seniors and working families.

  • Rep. Hultgren: Stop taking NRA money
Randy Hultgren (R IL 14) has taken money from the NRA and supports the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which will allow anyone from any state with a concealed carry permit (or from a permitless state) to bring concealed weapons into Illinois, to the likely detriment of our citizens.

  • Save American workers' Pensions!!!
To protect the American workers who worked their whole lives and contributed part of their earnings so that they could live, survive and have a secure retirement- and now to have their benefits cut drastically. Many of my friends can barely make ends meet because of these cuts, but the government will bail out the Banks and Wallet Street but not hard-working American citizens-That is a disgrace and shameful!!

  • Stop distributing Woody Allen's movie, Wonder Wheel, this December
Amazon Studios, with its own troubling history of sexual harassment by senior staff [1] and talent they've represented, is celebrating the #MeToo movement by distributing [2] a movie produced by a man credibly accused of molesting his daughter, and denied custody on that basis. [3] Why should victims of sexual assault continue to be told by the actions of our major cultural institutions that if a man is wealthy and famous enough, he can continue to have a career as a prominent tastemaker and trendsetter even after demonstrating that they're a public safety threat? Why must we continue to have the stories [4] that shape society told by men with no regard for the dignity or rights of others? Please do better.
