Tell the National Park Service not to raise entrance fees! It's troubling to see a proposal from the National Park Service that would make these beautiful places less accessible to average Americans. Raising the price to as much as $30 per individual and $70 per vehicle for the most popular parks would deprive so many people of life-changing experiences and an appreciation for the natural world. The parks are for everyone, regardless of income! I remember a trip to Sequoia National Park, high in California's mountains. It was winter, and the snow was taller than our car. We set out one morning as the sun rose. The only sound was the clop of our snowshoes as they broke through the thin layer of ice that had formed on the powder overnight. When we paused, we smelled only sweet evergreens and heard only the off-and-on work of a woodpecker echoing through the groves of giant trees that towered above us. The sequoias have been kings of that land for centuries, and visiting them was like stepping into a royal court. We felt honored to be there. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience places like that. We need to protect America's wilderness, but increasing park entrance fees is not the way to do it. Please sign this petition to weigh in on the request for comments - listed as: National Park Service Proposes Targeted Fee Increases at Parks to Address Maintenance Backlog (ID: 75576) / Document: Fact Sheet and Current and Proposed Fee Rates (ID: 83652). I will make sure your petition signatures are delivered by the November 23 deadline and will follow up with additional ways you can ensure your voice is heard!55,984 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by Ryan Merkley

Tell the FEC: Require Online Political Ads to Disclose FundersIn the 2016 election, 65 percent of Americans identified the internet, or an online platform, as their leading source of information. Yet our outdated transparency rules — which still include references to telegrams and typewriters — don't require adequate disclosure for online ads. No matter if it’s organizations with ties to Russia or wealthy special interests at home, Americans have a right to know who is paying for online political ads. More than three in four Americans — 78 percent — want full disclosure of who paid for political ads posted to social media platforms. That includes 80 percent of Republicans and 82 percent of Independents. It’s time for the FEC to make it happen.1,809 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Courtney Fuller

Let 10-year-old Rosa Maria go!This is what our country has come to: We're imprisoning little children immediately following emergency surgery. Ten-year-old Rosa Maria Hernandez is now in a detention center, 150 miles away from her parents, after Border Patrol was alerted while she was on her way to a life-saving gallbladder surgery. Rosa Maria is undocumented, having been brought to the U.S. when she was just three months old. According to The New York Times, Border Patrol agents allowed Rosa Maria to continue to Driscoll Children's Hospital but followed the ambulance the rest of the way there, then waited outside her room until she was released from the hospital. Rosa Maria is now in a children's detention center for immigrants, over 150 miles away from her parents, who are both undocumented, in Laredo. Even for Trump's administration, this is a new low. The Border Patrol violated many of its own guidelines around avoiding sensitive places like hospitals and keeping children and families together whenever possible. If enough of us raise our voices, Trump will have no choice but to let Rosa Maria go, and we might even be able to make changes to make sure this sort of violation never happens again.62,704 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by Kyle de Beausset

Sign the petition re: $72,781,300,000 for the 1%The Republican tax plan would give trillions of dollars in tax giveaways to corporations and the top 1% by cutting trillions from Medicare, Medicaid, and other vital programs. Basically, it would benefit the superrich at the expense of everyone else. In 2018 alone, the richest 1% would receive $72,781,300,000 in tax breaks, if the proposed tax scam is passed. That's the equivalent of 12,635,642 health insurance premiums, 12,294,139 Pell Grants, or 689,968 infrastructure-related jobs in the United States. We—Ben and Jerry, the ice cream guys—were fortunate and made a whole bunch of money, and that's why we can say that slashing trillions from health care and education spending for regular Americans just to give people like us trillions more in tax breaks makes no sense. This tax scheme doesn't benefit everyone—it's designed to benefit guys like us (and those a lot richer than us)—and Trump. Because he'd be getting a tax break, too. (Can't say exactly how much of a tax break, since he won't show us his tax returns.) We have been vocal about wanting the government to reduce spending, especially on our military budget. But this latest Republican scheme doesn't address military spending, it just ravages essential programs to give rich folks more money. We need to oppose this plan completely—not one penny in tax giveaways to the top 1% and corporations and not one penny in cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and education.189,902 of 200,000 SignaturesCreated by Ben and Jerry

STOP Bill O'Reilly's being brought back to television by Sinclair Broadcasting CorporationIt does not seem like main stream Corporate America is taking the issue of sexual harassment seriously, as evidenced by Sinclair Broadcasting Group's considering putting Bill O'Reilly in a position of power, from which he can once again sexually harass women. It is obvious that Bill O'Reilly does NOT take personal responsibility for his actions, given his recently aired statement in which he blames God for his problems. He shows absolutely NO remorse!!! It is time for American citizens to have a place to register their outrage at the continued harassment/abuse of women, Sincerely, Me Too546 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Leslie Arnold-Rautman

Tell Facebook: The Weekly Standard Is Not Fit To Fact-CheckFacebook has a checkered history of addressing fake news and misinformation: Last year, after the social media giant fired its human editors following a conservative hissy fit, fake news stories immediately made their way into the “trending topics” section of the website. Then, after the scope of Facebook’s fake news problem became more evident, Mark Zuckerberg dismissed and downplayed the problem. And now, Facebook is under fire for allowing Russian trolls to hijack the network’s advertising platform during the 2016 election without consequence. Because of all this and pressure from people like you, the social media giant last winter announced a partnership with independent, nonpartisan news outlets -- like The Associated Press, PolitiFact, Snopes, and FactCheck.org -- to analyze and fact-check news stories. But now, The Weekly Standard, a right-wing publication with a history of partisan lies, is reportedly in talks with Facebook to become a fact-checking partner in the platform’s fight against fake news. The Weekly Standard is different from Facebook’s current fact-checking partners. Over the past two decades, the outlet has routinely pushed right-wing talking points and misinformation, including by serving as the foremost media booster for the Iraq War. Most recently, the Standard published a piece headlined “Death Panels: Sarah Palin Was Right,” referring to a GOP lie fabricated in 2009 regarding nonexistent health care rationing by malevolent bureaucrats. The false claim was so notorious that PolitiFact, which is already a partner on Facebook’s fake news initiative, deemed it its 2009 “Lie of the Year.” And The Weekly Standard has no experience fact-checking. Instead, it’s now looking to hire for its first ever fact-checker in order to look legitimate and gain access to special capabilities on the back end of Facebook. But lack of fact-checking experience aside, the Standard -- which bills itself as “A Weekly Conservative Magazine & Blog” -- has a clear agenda and partisan history that should disqualify it from being designated a nonpartisan fact-checker. The potential collaboration is allegedly “part of Facebook’s attempt to ‘appease all sides’” -- but what the site is really doing is caving yet again to conservative pressure, this time by treating nonpartisan fact-checkers that have to routinely call out right-wing lies as “liberal.” We’ve seen Facebook try to play this game before, and it ended disastrously. This isn’t about excluding or censoring conservatives from the fight against fake news; indeed, researchers and experts have called on conservatives to help fight the problem, and the social media giant could certainly use the help. But given The Weekly Standard’s history, Facebook has no place partnering with the outlet to provide neutral and independent analysis.473 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Angelo Carusone, Media Matters

Facebook Must Inform Users How They Were Exposed to Russian PropagandaFacebook enabled Russian interference in the United States election in 2016, but refuses to provide a full account to the public. In fact, it has recently removed data that allowed independent researchers to understand the nature and scale of the problem. American citizens that use Facebook deserve to know how they were exposed to Russian disinformation and propaganda. Facebook should provide this data to users in an application that makes it easy to understand. Users should be able to see how content and advertising messages from identified Russian sources appeared in their timeline, whether they interacted with such media, and basic metrics that quantify their exposure.1,322 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Justin Hendrix

ALEC: Disclose payments to Ohio State Senator Cliff HiteIn the days since the sexual assault allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein came to light, millions of brave people have taken to Facebook to share their stories of sexual assault and harassment using the #metoo hash tag. It has become an important moment in the battle against this type of behavior. This type of public pressure is critical in holding people in power like Cliff Hite accountable for their actions.30 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stand Up to ALEC

NO TAX REFORM WITHOUT POTUS TAX RETURNThis petition is about standing up once and for all up to President Trump and saying: We will not take it any more. His blatant and consistent undermining of the moral glue of this country (our collective sense of decency, of ethical behavior, and of fair play) threatens the core of our American identity. As president of this country, he should be our moral leader. His behavior so far suggests the opposite: a distrusting man consumed with his own self-image, one who refuses to allow the American people to judge for themselves whether and how he could gain financially from the tax reform he proposes. What is he hiding?154 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Candace Martinez
