The Trump administration has launched a concerted anti-immigrant agenda since day one. In order to fulfill its xenophobic vision, they need local law enforcement to act as deportation officers. California must take a stand against such attacks and protect those who call this state their home. Disentangling local law enforcement and ICE is one important step to take in order to protect our communities against Trump's deportation machine.

The State Police Director in Michigan, Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, should be fired. Early this week, she posted an image on Facebook calling athletes who kneeled in protest of police brutality "anti-American degenerates." We are in the midst of a historic moment where NFL players, celebrities, and decisionmakers with the platform powerful enough to shift the entire country are all speaking out against police brutality. And she's absolutely on the wrong side of history. As soon as news broke about the post, people started calling for Etue's resignation. She immediately apologized and said posting the comment was a "mistake." But her apology means absolutely nothing. She already revealed the truth about where she stands--and we need to believe her. Michigan State police director Etue's words are not just a meme on Facebook. They incite hate, violence, and are a representation of her practices. She represents the type of leadership that we cannot let continue to exist in this country. She's failed to hold police who kill Black people accountable--and she even awarded the officer who killed 15-yr old Damon Grimes a "Lifesaving Award." On top of that, her department is severely suffering from a lack diversity. The people of Michigan need leaders who will champion a change in the status quo, not those who spout Trump's white supremacist talking points. Gov. Rick Snyder has said that her apology was enough--but it's clearly not. We need him to do the right thing and fire Etue. And we need a lot more people to stand up in order to push him to make the right choice. Sign the petition?

The recent mass shootings in Las Vegas, one of the deadliest in our history not related to war.

After Orlando, we un-successfully petitioned Metro to eliminate gun shows. We were told that ending shows would push the problem to other jurisdictions. Each jurisdiction should consider the problem. I am saddened and angered by the mass shootings and everyday gun violence that we as a society can choose to stop. Now, we can act. By eliminating gun shows, we send a clear message that we want to be part of the multiple levels of solutions required to end this epidemic in our country.

I don't have to be personally impacted by gun violence in order to have concern for others who have. If I can protect my loved ones ahead of an incident, then, my actions will have been effective.

Almost weekly you see headlines about gun violence. Immediately each side start shouting the usual arguments. But what are the facts. For years, scientists have been forbidden to gather the information to make rational decisions that can effect the lives of every US citizen.

There are insufficient regulations, laws or licensure to keep mentally healthy, law abiding citizens safe from weapons of mass destruction, which is what automatic, semi automatic and assault weapons are in the hands of the public. The congress has proven unable to provide for the general public safety on this issue and the public must take action!

The opioid epidemic is hurting real people: every 10 minutes, a mother, child, friend, neighbor, or fellow American dies from a drug overdose. Yesterday, Donald Trump declared the opioid crisis a national emergency—more than two months after he first committed to the declaration, and potentially more than 10,000 overdoses later. But without significant new funds for a long-term, comprehensive strategy for both prevention and treatment, a national emergency alone is not likely to be successful.

Sussex County is asking the public to offer feedback on a multi-million-dollar project to create a sports complex that would serve youth and adults in southern Delaware, beginning as early as the spring of 2019. County officials received a presentation by the Sussex Sports Center Foundation on Sept. 26, 2017, that envisions a new public facility – for residents and visitors to Sussex County – featuring soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and touch football fields, pickleball courts, playground equipment, as well as walking and cross-country trails, just off Sand Hill Road in the Town of Georgetown. The complex would serve youth clubs, local schools, and adult recreation leagues, as well as the general public. Proposed as a public-private partnership, the foundation members have asked Sussex County to provide $1.5 million in financial support for the $4.4 million project, with the option to eventually take over ownership of the athletic and recreation complex. In addition to financial support, the project must receive land use approval from the Town of Georgetown. Officials in Philadelphia have announced plans to use 100% renewable energy to power city properties by 2030, along with goals to cut greenhouse gas emissions from buildings and reduce energy use from the built environment. The Municipal Energy Master Plan is an initiative to help Philadelphia meet the goals of the Paris Climate Accord, an agreement within the UN framework to combat greenhouse gas emissions. Located in Philadelphia, Drexel University (DU) is a private institution that is in a unique position to demonstrate this new found commitment to a clean city. The fleet is relativley small and the postive impacts are huge! NO one should ever be treated the way people are treated when sent to Plymouth on a section . They are NOT inmates that are people who need help with substance abuse . Guards have no right to treat them any less . We need to help them instead of knocking them down further and major changes need to happen before more kids die. We must demand change, and Plymouth needs to be investigated .

Donald Trump has created a disturbing, negative effect on American politics and the society itself. His influence on our country must be stopped since it's continuation will very likely lead to yet more destructive results.
