The American people should be able to safely live their daily lives without the pervasive fear of gun violence. Our children deserve no less.

In 30 States and the District of Columbia, voters have the option of no excuse absentee voting, also referred to as optional vote by mail. To date, Pennsylvania is NOT one of those states. But you have the power to change this by signing this petition. This petition to members of the Pennsylvania state legislature urges our elected officials to enact legislation that would authorize optional vote by mail. Sign the Petition to clearly convey that our voting system should be set up so that every eligible citizen has a fair chance to vote without imposing artificial obstacles to make it difficult.

The tax bill proposed and being pushed through in the House of Representatives is again an attempt to balance the budget on the middle and lower class citizens and give the VERY rich a tax cut. Any tax cut they offer the middle and lower classes is set with an expiration date and the cuts for the uber rich is permanent.

We’ve all been personally affected; my fellow citizens are dying from gun violence at a rate that is much higher than in any other developed nation.

Equifax must be compelled by Congress to contact all people who had their information compromised on Equifax's watch. Equifax must create a victims clearinghouse to provide information to victims regarding remedial actions they should take. There must be no cost borne by victims to remedy Equifax's mistakes. No taxpayer funds are to be used toward these actions; the cost must be borne solely by Equifax. The responsibility to cure this data breach must fall on Equifax, not the victims.

The good that universities do would simply not be possible without graduate students. Graduate students already face a huge financial burden--they survive on small stipends while teaching classes and assisting with research on top of their own studies. Often they're forced to take on extra jobs and/or debt to make it through. And yet they're a vital engine of our intellectual life. They deserve our respect, our thanks, and our protection. And if Congress makes graduate school impossible to pursue for the many, this country is going to lose out on a generation of thinkers.

The Census Bureau usually starts advertising its upcoming census 3 or 4 years ahead of time. The next census is 2020, and the bureau is not being funded enough. Allocations of funds depend on accurate Census numbers. Accuracy here is important, especially for underserved populations.

It was never OK to honor Arnold, aka the Gropenator, but in this #metoo moment, it is especially wrong. By honoring Arnold Common Cause is enabling harassers and silencing victims. Common Cause should instead help shed light on the widespread problem of sexual harassment.

The expansive leaks show that the officials behind pushing the depraved Republican Tax Bill are at the core of the super-wealthy global elite who already hide their money in offshore accounts and tax havens. In the wealthiest country on earth, we the people demand congress investigate the Bermuda leak links to the big money behind the tax bill before they vote to give bigger breaks to corporations that ship jobs overseas and then vote to cut access to healthcare, social security, medicare, Medicaid and other crucial programs paid for by working people.

Gun control is long overdue in America, as seen by watching the local news with its daily shooting reports. We've become inured to the carnage until it gets reinforced by mass shootings which recur too frequently. My best friend's son was shot in the back, leaving him a paraplegic. My friend had to quit her job to care for him and his two-year old daughter. Later, a stroke made Michael a quadriplegic, unable to communicate or eat solid food, plus he had to have a colostomy. The man was bedridden and moved between hospitals and nursing homes (where he contracted MRSA) until his death two years later. Such suffering from 1 gunshot!
