We The People must speak up right now to protect the investigation into Russia's election meddling -- and whether President Trump was involved or obstructed justice to cover it up. The President has reportedly considered whether and how to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is currently investigating him and his team. If he follows through, it'd be a shameful repeat of Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre, leading to a full-fledged constitutional crisis. Mueller is leading the FBI and Department of Justice investigation into possible illegal collusion with Russia to interfere in our elections. His job is to make sure no one – not Russia, not wealthy interests, not even the President or his family – is above the law. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is pressuring his allies in congress to let the Rohrabacher‐Farr amendment expire. This amendment prevents Sessions from prosecuting the medical marijuana industry. If it expires, then Mr. Sessions will have money available to order his Justice Department to conduct federal raids on medical marijuana dispensaries. The National Rifle Association has contributed large amounts of money to many members of Congress, including Representative Barbara Comstock. Rep. Comstock received $137232 in support from the NRA and members of its staff. The NRA's financial hold on our Congress is overwhelming, and it is one of the primary reasons why, in the wake of national tragedies, we remain unable to pass commonsense gun laws. We as Americans and as her constituents are calling on Rep. Comstock to donate the amount of money the NRA spent on her behalf and commit to not taking another cent from the NRA.

The four largest mass shootings in US history have occurred since 2007, with the two largest occurring back to back in 2016 and 2017. This means that my two year old son has lived through the two largest mass shootings in modern US history. Yet after every mass shooting no progress is made on common sense gun reform, despite the majority of American's being in support of some change. One of the reasons for this is the fact that our representatives are bought and paid for by the NRA and other special interest groups. Signing this petition will put Tom on notice that he needs to listen directly to his constituents and compromise to solve the tough challenges of our times. Doing nothing solves nothing.
