Donald Trump wants to require all Muslims to register in a national database; to carry special ID cards; to be tracked by the government. He is citing World War II internment camps as a precedent for proposed Muslim registration. During the election, a reporter from NBC asked him: “Mr. Trump, why would Muslim databases not be the same thing as requiring Jews to register in Nazi Germany?” He had no answer. The idea that any group of citizen should be singled out, profiled and discriminated is profoundly un-American and immoral by any religious standard. Donald Trump does not represent real positive American values. I believe that he is seriously flawed as a candidate both because of his principles and lack of intellect. There are so many reasons why we should not allow this man to become president. If the politicians won't do it, voters should. There are ways to get recounts on the county levels and we must do so.

There are so many awful things going on in this country right now. It's saddens me to know that our country is bringing us back 50 years. It is very important for people to come together and stand up against all this hate and racism. It seems to be the norm lately for people to outright target anyone who doesn't have white skin. We cannot allow this to go on any longer!!! The only way to change this is to let your voice be heard "loud and proud" stand united against this hate. If you think it won't make a difference you are wrong. United we stand divided we fall. Get your friends, family and neighbors. We will be organizing a march and we need you #unitedagainsthate

An influx of hate crimes has occurred against racial minorities, muslims, the LGBT community and women since the Trump campaign has begun. Donald Trump spoke to many people and moved them to the polls, but he also mocked and legitimized hate towards the above groups of people in his rallies. Because of this many individuals have been the victims of verbal & physical violence by Trump Supporters, particularly since Election Night. We call on you President Elect Donald J. Trump, Vice President Elect Mike Pence & Speaker Paul Ryan to immediately and emphatically speak out against this violence and tell your supporters that this violence will not be condoned in our country.

There are multiple reports of minorities being assaulted and attacked by Trump supporters all over the country. Gay people and immigrants are getting beaten, shouted at, humiliated, and prosecuted. Buildings are being tagged with xenophobic racist messages. Non-white children are being terrorized by other children in school. Friends of mine have been targeted.

Experts now state that hate crimes in the United States have spiked. Instances of violence, threat, intimidation, vandalism, and abuse have been well-documented in our schools, as well as in the public square. Meanwhile, our current and elected officials have maintained an unfortunate posture of silence. With Americans living in fear and falling victim to hate, silence is not an option. Lives are being lost. People have taken to our streets. We, the People, need your voice and leadership during this period of transition and uncertainty. In fact, we demand it. Take a stand against hate. Say something.

I believe each vote must count if we want to live our most cherished values of freedom and equal opportunity.

Donald Trump, sir, you declared in your victory speech that your movement was: "... a movement comprised of Americans from all races, religions, backgrounds, and beliefs." In your meeting with President Obama today you declared, "He is a very good man," and it was, a "great honor” to meet him. I believe you Mr. Trump, I really do, as an admitted Democrat I was moved by some of your victory speech, particularly when you said, "For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can work together and unify our great country." Well, here is some guidance: Confront head on the things you said and clarify them. If you said some things to break through that "glass ceiling" as a politician, it may,ironically, in the long run, be somewhat understood by historians and the American people. But if you remain silent, and let some of your following grab all the headlines with hatred, ignorance and bigotry, you will be judged by that in the long term, mark my words. Today I am reading about people of color and different religions being insulted and worse, and parades are being planned by white supremacists. You could argue that some of this is free speech, that some of this "expression" is their right, but understand this sir: WE had the popular vote. That means the majority of the United States stand AGAINST YOU because of some of the things that have come out of your mouth. It's that simple. And WE will fight a scourge when we see one. WE happen to have the justice department and the Constitution on our sides. So, with all due respect for what you have accomplished to get to this point, let us become a truly UNITED country, as WE move forward into the future. In that vein, I respectfully ask you to stand up for minorities of this great country and denounce, in a public speech, once and for all, ALL FORMS OF BIGOTRY, BEFORE you become President of the UNITED States.

Look, honestly, signing this won’t have much of an impact. I mean, even if this started to really roll, and like a million people signed it (not gonna happen), it’s not going to change things much. On the other hand, each signature has a greater than zero impact; there is absolutely, unconditionally, unequivocally no doubt that you can make a difference and that the course of history shivers ever so slightly with each choice any of us make. Just by choosing, we share, we join, and we create a community of care and love. There are a million moments in every day to choose to believe in the kind of world we want for ourselves and others. And when we do this, we change the energetics. Just a little bit. We can believe. And by believing we change the world. I really think that every moment of every day is a time and a chance to show up and represent what we believe in. You win some, you lose some. But when we learn to be steady in love and consciousness… that’s a powerful thing. There’s enough people who’ve lived on this planet that have shown us how it’s done. It’s an extraordinary thing to see. Me? I remember this maybe once a week. Maybe once a day, on a good week. Maybe for an hour or two, on a good day. But I try. And I’m remembering it right now. Approximately 25% of our nation's undocumented residents live in California, and they are understandably distressed at the results of the Presidential election. Our state relies on them to contribute to our economy and our future. California's leaders should pledge to protect them to the extent permissible by law from the kind of indiscriminate deportation Mr. Trump has promised.
