This is a clear use of hate speech targeting the LGBTQ community.

While this great nation allows us freedom of speech, there also should be consequences when that speech is directly encouraging others to commit acts of terror against the citizens of the United States. Pat Robertson and his pulpit of hate have gone unchecked for too long.

As a resident of Texas and a proud gay american, I am outraged and demand real action be taken.

In the hours after the largest mass shooting in American history(Florida Gay Nightclub Shooting/Massacre), Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick tweeted this: "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." Choosing silence in the face of injustice/tragedy is one thing, but to virtually condone violence(a hate crime at that), is unconscionable and outright disgusting; and is behavior that should not and will not be tolerated by any person, let alone a political office holder.

Donald Trump has said that Judge Gonzalo Curiel can't fairly consider the fraud case against Trump University because of his Mexican heritage. This outrageous criticism was aimed at Judge Curiel, an Indiana-born, highly esteemed judge who was initially appointed by a Republican governor. And Trump followed up by saying that Muslim judges would also not be suitable to consider a case brought against Trump. This is the definition of racism. And while Republican leaders like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell have expressed their concern, they are still standing by their endorsement of the presumptive Republican nominee. This week, another Republican Senate candidate, Mark Kirk from Illinois, publicly renounced his support of Donald Trump over these latest racist comments. You can't have it both ways. If you consider Trump's views racist, declare that he's unfit for the presidency—and revoke your endorsement of him, declaring you will not support him in November. If you don't, then you are standing on the side of racism.

As a Muslim and Marine who served in Iraq, I was outraged to watch Carl Higbie on CNN calling my faith "a political ideology masquerading as a religion.” Higbie then went on to endorse a range of war crimes, including the murder of Muslim civilians. Donald Trump: if you want to be the next Commander in Chief, you must denounce this extremist hate speech.

California needs open primaries and this is first step. California should lead the way for the whole country, to enact open primaries going forward.

The gerrymandering of our congressional and legislative districts has led to the creation of "safe" districts for Republican and DFL candidates in Minnesota. This has allowed powerful — sometimes extremist — minorities in both parties to successfully run candidates whose political views are not broadly representative of the districts they intend to represent.

This petition is about the very damaging impact that recent hateful, bullying political speech has upon our children. I am a mother, grandmother, and professor of education and am very disturbed by the negative effect that many teachers have related regarding the influence this "language of hate" has had upon children's behavior and fear. Demeaning verbal attacks on people with disabilities, physical appearance, religious beliefs, and ethnic and cultural heritage has no place in our society. Our children hear this speech everyday and this language undermines schools' efforts to stop bullying behaviors and create responsible and respectful young citizens. A presidential candidate should be an exemplary role model for our children by using respectful and inclusive language. ENOUGH!!!!

Minnesota Democrat Betty McCollum is circulating a letter to her House colleagues on protecting Palestinian children being held in military detention. [1] Maryland Democrat Elijah Cummings and Illinois Democrat Luis Gutierrez are now in a position of unique influence: they've been named to the Democratic Platform committee. [2] If we can get Reps. Cummings and Gutierrez to sign the McCollum letter, that's two more signers on the letter, but it's also two more members of the Platform Committee who've signed up for the idea that the U.S. should do more to help protect Palestinian kids in military detention. That will improve the prospects for getting strong language on respect for the rights of Palestinian children in the Democratic platform. Urge Rep. Cummings and Rep. Gutierrez to support the McCollum letter by signing our petition.
