• PROMOTE HONOR, NOT HATE!
Macon's City Center (2nd Street) should honor and highlight the best of what Macon has to offer. The confederate statute that currently fills the place is not a reflection of Macon now, and certainly not of our future. Sign this petition if you support replacing the confederate statue with the Otis Redding Statute or a combined community art piece led by artist representing neighborhoods from across Macon-Bibb.

  • Remove the Confederate flag from the entrance to Marion County buildings.
It is an insult and hurtful to millions of Americans and Floridians that have to pass this symbol of the war against the United States by Southern states to withdraw from the Union and to retain slavery.

  • Confederate Monument at Orlando's Lake Eola Park Belongs in a Museum, NOT in a Public Park
A Confederate monument sits on display at downtown Orlando’s popular Lake Eola Park, a family-centered public space where inclusiveness is celebrated through many events and amenities. The statue's inscription boasts: "This monument shall stand for years to come as our loving tribute to the Confederate soldier and as a memorial of his heroic courage, his unparalleled devotion, and his unselfish patriotism." We ask, what exactly is it that makes a monument of a Confederate soldier an appropriate symbol of patriotism to the United States of America when the goal of the Confederacy was to secede from the United States? This is NOT patriotism. This monument also represents an overt display of pride in the marginalization of, and violence towards, Black people in the South as the Confederacy fought for secession in order to protect Southern supporters of slavery and its presence is entirely unacceptable in this public park. We must learn from our past, but there are much more appropriate places for that learning to take place, such as a state history museum.

  • Gov. Bryant: Call Special Session to Change the MS Flag!
Governor Bryant has stated that he will not call a special session of the MS Legislature unless one of the factors was a major economic project. We contend that changing the MS Flag, by removing the Beauregard Confederate Battle Flag in its canton corner, is the most important economic project Mississippi will undertake in its nearly 200-year history.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans are tired of the Ku Klux Klan misusing the Confederate and United States flag for their own perverted purposes.

  • Ban the Confederate Flag on U.S. Military Bases
The Confederate Flag is a historic symbol that invokes the legacy of slavery and racism that defined the American South for generations. It is a symbol held high by the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremicist groups. It is difficult every day for US Military personnel and federal employees to be reminded of the history of racism, fear, division, and inequality while working side by side or treating people that openly display such hateful imagery. Let's follow the lead of South Carolina and remove this racist and hateful flag off of all US Military Bases.

  • Stop Texas from censoring textbooks
Texas has decided to change the textbooks for schools by deleting the Civil War, slavery, and other significant events of U.S. history. This should not happen. As a country, we must remember history--good or bad. You cannot delete history. Our children will not know the real facts of history.

  • Operation Mountain Name Change
Greetings, Today, our peaceful campaign to change Harney Peak to Black Peak has made it to the United States Board on Geographic Names (USBGN) for a vote to accept the new sacred name of a mountain to be called "Black Elk Peak." This historical vote will take place on September 10, 2015, in Washington, DC at 9:30 am (ET). The address is located below: Department of Interior (Kiowa Room) 1849 C St. NW Washington, DC 20240 On August 13, 2015, I will provide a presentation to the USBGN on the importance of the significance of the Black Hills of South Dakota to the Native American and the importance of changing the name from Harney Peak to Black Elk Peak through cultural diversity and unity with an emphasis of "Mending our Sacred Hoop One Generation at Time, through Cultural Diversity" with all walks of life. With the many atrocities of today that occur every day in our media with events such as the most recent tragedy of the church shootings in South Carolina in relationship to the "Confederate Flag," it is time for America to come to a neutral perspective and remove all offensive and negative names and items from the public view and renew a self-pride and understanding through cultural diversity among all walks of life. Just as the Confederate flag is offensive in the South, so is the name of General William Harney in South Dakota to the Native American Tribes. Please show your support and help us get to this very important meeting. if you have any questions please contact me directly at (605)407-0961. Mitakuye Oyasin- Translates to "WE ARE RELATED" in the Sioux Language. Sincerely, Myron W. Pourier Great-Great Grandson of Black Elk
