Prosecute Voter SuppressionExamples of voter supression during the past four presidential elections have become almost commonplace, whether the recent case of Pennsylvania election officials enacting new voter ID laws or the case in Ohio where election officials summarily reduced early voting days just prior to the election. Whether it is being done by Republicans or Democrats, it should be prosectuted as a federal crime.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ernie Corrigan

Legalize Same-Sex Marriage In CaliforniaSame-sex couples can legally marry in nine states: Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, Maine, Maryland, and Washington. California has long been at the forefront of LGBT rights, it is time for action, for marriage equality. Let's honor Harvey Milk and those who have fought with us in this civil rights struggle. Please join us in sending this letter to the California state legislature to remind them that we remain second class citizens and that it is time to change that. Let's show the governor it is time he joins us in this fight for equality. We need change, and we demand it. Lets make sure President Obama has the votes necessary to repeal DOMA.22,577 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Enrique Flores

Tell Bonnie to Take 'Em Down!A Spanish-language billboard containing an intimidating, fear-mongering message about workers comp fraud is targeting Latinos. This billboard was put up by the San Diego County District Attorney in the very heart of North Park (and other neighborhoods in San Diego). These offensive eyesores unfairly denigrate an entire class of people, negatively impact the quality of life in our neighborhoods, and remind some of notorious voter intimidation billboards designed to suppress legitimate voter turnout in some parts of the country ("Commit voter fraud, and go to jail.") THEY MUST COME DOWN. More background: http://www.teawithlemon.com/2012/11/greentech-geek-well-hello-billboard.html To call the District Attorney's office to voice your opinion of the billboard: 800-315-7672. Please note that this petition is being delivered to the District Attorney's office electronically by SignOn.org once it reaches 50 signatures, and it will be delivered again every time it garners and additional 50 signatures ... until the offensive billboards come down. We are also mailing a hard copy of the petition with all signatures and comments to the District Attorney. Our voices are being heard!151 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Steven Shultz, M.S.

Pass Concealed Carry Laws In IllinoisIt's come to my attention that there is a petition going around to block possible legislature of concealed carry reform in Illinois. I am against said petition and support the passing of concealed carry in Illinois. Here's why: The people committing gun related crimes aren't upstanding citizens with clean records. They are criminals that obtain these guns in illegal manners. Not having concealed carry laws in big cities like Chicago leaves only the upstanding members of the community without protection. I've known too many people that have been victims to be for and support our current gun laws. Years ago a young female associate with absolutely no ties to any gangs was gunned down by a mugger while walking to the red line at night. A couple years after that one of my friends was shot several times because, from a distance, he resembled someone that belonged to the shooters' rival gang. Years after that my cousin was shot several times and almost died, all because some kids acting tough decided to beat up on our other cousin at a party. He saw it and went over to help when they opened fire on him. None of these victims were gang members and all had clean records, while the perpetrators all had records and obtained their guns illegally. Citizens who undergo license training and testing and pass background checks should be able to obtain concealed carry permits to protect themselves in Illinois. It is my belief that if this law were to pass, non-gang related violence would drop considerably in Illinois; especially in Chicago. Chicago police also support concealed carry. Repeal The Voter ID LawThe Voter ID Law is contradictory to the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This “act to enforce the fifteenth amendment to the Constitution” was signed into law 95 years after the amendment was ratified. We should not be taking steps backwards, we should be encouraging voting.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William F Barrasso
