NPR reported on July 13, 2011 that "the financial meltdown of 2008 hasn't generated a single prosecution of high-level Wall Street players..." They proceed to explain how new guidelines made by the Justice Department in the late summer of 2008 have "allowed prosecutors to take a 'softer approach' to corporate crimes. The guidelines — known as deferred prosecution agreements — have permitted financial companies to avoid indictments if they agree to investigate and report their own crimes." Sign this petition and ask the President to rescind the deferred prosecution agreements and investigate Wall Street corruption.

On July 25th 2010 my 14 year. old daughter was operating a golf cart when, on an incline, she slammed on the brakes causing it to go into a skid and overturn. Her friend, Jordan Jackson, a 15 year old girl was killed. For years golf cart manufacturers have been aware of the need for front and back brakes on these vehicles, as well as other saftey measures that would only amount to a couple hundred dollars per vehicle to install, that would make them much safer to operate. There are laws in place that make it illegal for kids to operate these vehicles on the roadways, but these are rarely enforced. Most of the time these vehicles are used around lake area's with very little adult supervision, as was the case with the accident involving my daughter. Law Enforcement "looks the other way" because this is how "everyone gets around." Many people think because they are a slow moving vehicle, they are "safe." Jordan was killed on a golf cart whose top speed was apprx. 15 miles per/hr. My daughter sustained injuries physically & emotionally that we will deal with for many years. These safety measures need to be made mandatory; no matter what the cost. The target group for these vehicles are teenage childen and seniors. The benefits far outweigh the cost here. Once a life is lost, like 15 year. old Jordan Jackson; there is no remedy. Please put safety first and help to prevent this from ever happening to another kid again.

The Arizona State Constitution, Article XIV, Section 18 states: Under Contributions to Influence Elections or Official Action "It shall be unlawful for any corporation, organized or doing business in this state, to make any contribution of money or anything of value for the purpose of influencing any election or official action." The eternal struggle between right and wrong. The common right of humanity set against the divine right of kings. It is the same spirit that says, " you work and toil and earn bread and I'll eat it." No matter in what shape it comes, whether from the mouth of a king who seeks to bestride the people of his own nation and live by the fruit of their labor, or from one race of humans as an apology for enslaving another race, or a vast criminal enterprise of corporate corruption of government officials, it is all the same tyrannical principle of despotism. The major cost of electoral campaigns is the cost of TV and radio advertising. The airwaves are a public resource, owned by the people of the United States. Radio and TV licensees should only receive a license for about 90% of the 8760 hours in year. The rest should be reserved for electoral campaigns and should have little or no cost associated. This would take the big money out of electoral campaigns thereby making them more equitable, fair and democratic and removing a primary root of corruption from the American electoral system.

The reputation and image of Mexico is under attack by a negative corporate media campaign focusing almost exclusively on drug violence and US immigration issues. Relentless coverage of these problems is only increasing xenophobia, stoking racism, polarizing politicians, ruining international commerce, and imperiling the relationship between the US and Mexico. The world needs to hear the positive news of Mexico--which vastly eclipses the negative in relevance but not in coverage--to inspire these countries to work together to solve their mutual problems.

Last week, Fox Business' Eric Bolling said that President Obama has a habit of having "hoodlum[s] in the hizzouse," referring to an official meeting the president had with an African head of state at the White House. Bolling also said that President Obama was too busy "chugging forties" in Ireland to respond to the recent tornadoes in Missouri and more. These statements play off of racist stereotypes and are unacceptable. Fox needs to either fire Bolling or admit that they accept his brand of stereotyping and race-baiting. Please join us in demanding that they do.

The Supreme Court ruled in 2010 in Citizens United that corporations are persons who are entitled to all of the rights protected in the Constitution. This is based on a lie. They were never before recognized as natural persons like you and me. Corporations are global, powerful and wealthier than many nations. The ruling will essentially allow corporations to enslave us. We must oppose it, and an amendment is the best way to do it.

Justice Clarence Thomas has violated federal law and rules of ethics by falsifying 20 years of financial disclosure forms and engaging in judicial insider trading to enrich himself from the Citizens United decision. We're calling on the Justice Department to apply Equal Justice Under Law to the conduct of Clarence Thomas.
