This petition will help establish the principal that all income should be subject to FICA. Currently the FICA maximum for any one year is about 110,000. This means that anyone with taxable income over $1,000,000 can reach their FICA max in about 3 days. Most everyone else has to work the rest of the year to approach their FICA max. By eliminating the cap, everyone will pay to the last dollar earned. This will ensure that social security will be secure for all future generations. This is personally important to me because I want to ensure that social security is there for my children and grandchildren.

The petition regards rich people who avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Every American is affected because the government has less money to support programs that benefit everyone.

It's about time that State Representatives are held accountable for what they vote and stand for.

My name is Maria Morales. I'm a grandmother from Racine, Wisconsin, and I'm a constituent of Rep. Paul Ryan, the new Republican candidate for vice president. I don't like to complain, but this year has been very difficult for me. After being laid off, I had an appendectomy, and then my doctors told me I have three clogged arteries in my brain. My son has a spinal cord condition. The health care bills are piling up, and I rely on my unemployment insurance to survive. That's why I was so concerned when I found out that my representative, Paul Ryan, was leading efforts to cut off unemployment insurance for people like me. He's also cut Medicaid and wants to end Medicare, which would really be devastating. I first requested a meeting with Paul Ryan more than a year ago to discuss how his policies are hurting people like me. My hope was that he would hear my story and reconsider. At the very least I deserve to have my voice heard. I am still waiting for that meeting. I have called Paul Ryan's office again and again, willing to meet anywhere for even just a few minutes. I've even gone to DC to try to meet him there. Later, when I and some other people from my community dropped by his office, his staff called the police. Eventually I got so fed up that I went to his office and simply refused to leave. I waited for 7 days, and still I'm waiting. I can't find work, and this December, my jobless benefits will run out. Then I really don't know what I will do, and there are many others in my community with similar situations. During last year's summer recess, which was an entire month long, Rep. Ryan didn't hold a single town hall meeting in his district. But he did meet with high donors numerous times. I think it's wrong that my congressman has time to meet with large funders, but not the people he's hurting in his district. I'm asking Rep. Paul Ryan to find time, even a few minutes, to meet with me. I'll even just meet on the phone, since his schedule is busy. I ask Paul Ryan to stop dodging his constituents and meet with me, Racine resident Maria Morales, and the other people in my community hurt by his cuts to unemployment insurance, health care, and other programs.

Congress adjourned without the House picking up or acting on the Senate Farm Bill, in the face of the worst heat and drought of U.S. History. Constitutionally (Article II, Section 3) to call Congress back into session and not let them adjourn "on exceptional occasions." The House should meet and pass a bill at this time of crisis, and an agreed final bill passed and signed.

Mars has not debt, no spending, no welfare, no unions, no health care. Paul Ryan would be much better for Mars than for Earth.

First class mail rate increases on a service whose usage is declining make no sense. Increasing the revenue gained from bulk mail delivery will help the Postal Service remain solvent (and keep its retirement obligations to its employees).

Do you support our working class heroes? Do you believe that union members that forfeit their right to strike in exchange for binding arbitration should have those lawfully awarded results honored by their employer?

If we have a law that mandates a minimum wage that is not even livable, then we should at least have a maximum wage to limit the greed and corruption that occurs in our society due to all our leaders being owned by the corporations. Enough is enough already. CEO's, hedge fund managers, investment bankers, etc... do not need millions or even billions of dollars at the expense of others.

Giving the men and women of our armed services a tax break

Democratic officials and candidates routinely refer to Republican tax plans as "reverse-Robin Hood" plans. Intellectually I understand what that means, but what is the imagery? Robin Hood walking backwards? Robin Hood on standing on his head? I've really no idea. Shouldn't the words they use evoke a visceral response in their audience?

A definite issue that will be brought up in the upcoming presidential and vice-presidential debates will be the origin of our national debt. Republican candidates will falsely claim that the Democratic administrations are to blame. It is therefore vital that President Obama tell the real facts and educate all voters.
