Religious organizations are now big business and are attempting to force their views upon the nation with political pressure. These organizations, along with other non-profits like the chamber of commerce, would have the right to freedom of speech just like I do if they are a citizen. Take away their tax exempt status and make citizens out of them.

Concerning the recent hoopla over tax breaks for U.S. Olympic medal winners,I don't agree with this logic and don't think it's fair... Why would I have this logic? I think we should give tax breaks with a less tax rate (say like 15% or less for military families)...if it's good for the very rich to pay very little in taxes(15%),why not soldiers and sailors actively serving and fighting for our country? Many in the military are actually having a hard time making ends meet,as well as coming home traumatized and alienated due to money issues. Why not give the true heroes,who are not "commercialized"(except by war profiteers) a tax break? Even the Military Industrial Complex uses the military personnel for "profit"...It's time our military get back their fair share of the profits through a change at lowering the tax rates for these defenders of our feedoms. What do you think?

The pledge was started in 1986 by Grover Norquist and continues to this day. Members of Congress who have signed this pledge have promised never ever to raise taxes under any circumstances. My beloved Country, the USA has been in a financial crisis for years,and Congress who holds the power of money can help solve the problem, but refuses to do so because those that have a signed commitment to this group can`t. My Senator,Senator Lindsey Graham has broken this pledge and I call on others to ask their Members of Congress to do the same,so they can get something done.

How about the under-employed and all of the forgotten "new poor" like me who has worked very hard all of their lives and now can't get a job anywhere(I'm almost 60 & spending all of my retirement money to take care of myself & my 92 year old husband). I'm tired of hearing about all the unemployed vets 7 what the country is doing for them...help me & ALL OF US. We're still really useful...I have no desire to be retired.....they told us we have to work until we drop dead so...

This petition is about keeping religion and state separate. The religious intitutions have become to greedy and they have lost empathy. They were suppose to help their communities and the people with the money they make, and stay away from politics. They are not doing that anymore, all they are doing is spending big amounts of money for their own use and in politics to gain extra benefits with the government for their own agenda. Since they have all that extra money they can afford to pay taxes.

Tax credits for creating jobs should only be given when that job is filled on a permanent full time basis. No more tax breaks before a job is created.

Republicans have willfully and deliberately obstructed the passage of all of the Obama jobs bills that would immediately put millions back to work. They have done this against the interests of the people who overwhelmingly want this passed. Republicans are interested in power and not interested in the will of the people. If they continue to block these bills you have recourse in voting them out of office. They are aware of your power with the vote which is why they are working overtime to create voter suppression laws state by state which will take away your democratic rights to vote them out.

Everywhere I look in my upscale Manhattan neighborhood I see the blight of empty storefronts. Small businesses constantly fail, sometimes businesses that have been in the same location for years, because there is no regulation of commercial rent. I am saddened by the loss of businesses I have patronized and business owners who have been my neighbors over the years.

establish a public bank to refinance all consumer debt......mortgages, auto, education....all interest paid to this bank will be used IN LIEU OF TAXES.....ALL TAXES......local, state, federal..........a typical american family pays 50% of its income in interest to private bankers......this must come to an end....these monies will now finance government.....when this is done, government will now answer to the people, not to the bankers and the corporations.....the stranglehold these institutions have on our government must be broken !!!!

As more people lose their jobs and homes, government punishes the least empowered while enriching the upper class. Instead, let's have a stimulus that works: pay every mortgage in the country for a year. Don't give it to the banks, give it to the people, and let it trickle down to the banks. Homeowners can buy pay off bills, buy new floors, new landscaping, new cars, and more, creating jobs on the ground, where they are needed. It will cost far less than directing a trillion dollars to the banks, and benefit every sector of the nation.
