Friends of ValdezI am signing this pledge as a statement of support for Valdez Elementary. Valdez Elementary is a dual language elementary school in Denver, CO. Valdez Elementary is in desparate need of a building remodel due to some significate building issues (lack of ADA compliances, small and inadequate spaces, open design classrooms, etc). Valdez has completed a DPS master plan design process and now deserves to be included in the 2012 Denver Bond. I support this cause.199 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kristen Speth

Support Strong Public Education In VirginiaGovernor McDonnell's proposed budget, under consideration in the Virginia General Assembly, greatly reduces the state's contribution to Virginia's public schools. While the governor expects counties and cities across Virginia to inflict punishing taxes and fees on teachers and the middle class, Virginia has a corporate income tax rate of 6%, one of the lowest in the country. Adding insult to injury, the goverrnor is proposing to spend millions on school "reform" programs that essentially funnel public money to private schools.7,022 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by Andrew Mike

The Hannity vs. Maddow DebatesRight or left, the public interest is not being served by today's media. Both sides stand accused of bias and the public is kept in the dark, unable to sort out reality from propaganda. Call out the sham and demand a series of three open, transparent debates before the November elections. Who better to square off than Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow, each a top pundit on opposing sides of the political spectrum. Your voice demanding head-to-head debate and live vetting will tear down the "Berlin Wall" of partisan media we suffer under.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jake Jacobs

Eliminate Interest on Student LoansStudents and graduates are saddled with high interest rates on Stafford and Student Plus loans: up to 8..5%. Students will be in debt for years to come. Eliminating the interest would be an economic stimulus, increasing consumer spending as well as helping the housing market by freeing up money. If something isn't done the student loan situation could become the next economic crisis.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dianne McKee

Congress: Save Our Lives: Fix Our Student Loan DebtIn 2005 (the Bush era), Congress extended the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act to include all "qualified education loans", to be nondischargeable in bankruptcy proceedings. Prior to this, only nonprofit lenders' loans were nondischargeable. We're calling on Congress to repeal this law, saving future generations of Americans, their debt crisis, and contribute to American prosperity.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brett Bauman

Advocate for Education!NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo continually talks about improving education in the state. All the while he and the State Education Department are tearing the public education system apart piece by piece. By adding costly, unnecessary mandates and cutting funding, schools are finding it impossible to provide the "sound basic education" students are entitled to as per the NYS Constitution. The Legislature needs to stand up to Governor Cuomo and State Ed to stop their bully tactics and reinstate local control.1,150 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Ali Gordon

An independent investigation of the failure to report child pornograpy by the University of MichiganThe University of Michigan discovered child pornography on a hospital computer that had been used by a resident physician in Pediatrics & Medicine in May 2011. The crime was not reported to local police until November 2011 after the Penn State scandal. Many university attorneys and officials were well aware of the discovery and failed to report it to police. The public must know who knew what and when. The appropriate people need to be punished. Nothing less than an independent investigation is required to satisfy the public's need to hold accountable those persons responsible.64 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Douglas Smith
