  • Harry Reid: Senate Simple Majority - say no to fillibuster
We saw last term now the Republicans stifled every good idea with the fillibuster. That can change if Harry Reid announces that all issues will be decided on by a simple majority. He didn't do it 4 years ago and see what happened. Let's remind him again, and again.

  • Statemanship Before Politics
Congressional tactics, such as the frivolous and frequent use of "super majority", preventing both passage of legislation and the approval of administrative appointees solely for political reasons is an afront to our democracy. I am concerned that 2012 election will not result in mandate for either party. The potential for continued congressional grid-lock will exist and nations business will continue to be the "empty chair". The voice of nation needs to be heard calling for re-emergence of statemanship over politics as core value of Congress. "Signed oaths" dictating loyalty and voting behavior potentially outside the interest of one's constituents is both dishonorable and immoral. We're calling for Congress to re-think and revise their ethics to discourage such behavior. We are also calling for the admendment of congressional voting rules (i.e. super majority) to prevent needless quid-lock of nations business solely for political purposes.

  • The USA's best interests, not special interests
Our Congress and our two party system are broken resulting in an out of control budget deficit, a crushing recession, a divisive polarizing of much of our nation and a continuing decline of the very essential middle class . Between the extreme escalation in financing campaign costs and the monetary reward of the spoils to the election victors they have usurped in Congress accomplishing what are in the best interests of the people and the country and instead basing their actions on what benefits big money contributing special interests and their respective parties.

  • Ensure Integrity of Legislation Across States And Government Be Pure from Campaign Donor's Financ...
An end is needed to allow legislation to be passed or obstructed based on party donor affiliation. These affiliations are directly related to lobbyists whose interests go beyond the common good. The Supreme Court needs to ensure Bills are not put forward or obstructed, and prevent direct correlation to campaign donors who are clear to gain or lose financially.

  • Term limits for all public office
It is ludicrous to impose term limits on the executive level of government and not to impose the same limits upon other elected officials This is a petition to limit publicly elected officials to two terms in each office at the federal and state level. Becoming a senator should not be a life-long career for any persons. Rather a honor and duty which one has the possibility to fulfill. Being elected to represent the public is an honor not a career path. What power will a filibuster have if that official only has 2 terms MAXIMUM to serve in any specifically elected office. Keep the public sphere public and end career politicians. This is the USA not ancient Rome. New voices are integral to the success of the democratic/republic process Perhaps this will be incentive for less greed in this branch, perhaps it will be more. But this is a strong message from the people. You have limits now.

  • Break the gridlock in Congress
I am sick and tired of Congress not working together to solve the problems of the country. The Republicans are trying to make the president fail and are just voting on a party line. We the people need to unite and remind them that they need to do what is right for the country. I hope both Republicans and Democrats will join me in expressing outrage at the behavior of our supposed representatives of the people.
