The hospital's administration has created, and presides over, a culture of corruption. To feed their egocentric narcissism and keep receiving their exhorbitant salaries, they continue to manipulate a weak, co-opted board. Over the last 6 years, the board has voted unanimously 99.5% of the time for everything the self-serving administration has proposed. The new hospital decision was reached in secret meetings to avoid a vote or public input. A new hospital would be only nine (9) miles from Swedish/Issaquah and cost $38.5 million, or $101.4 million with the lease-purchase scheme. This is beyond stupid and wastes scarce health care dollars, including Medicare & Medicaid.

Governor Paul LePage and the Republicans in the Maine State Legislature have decided they will pass a budget cutting key health and social welfare programs for the most vulnerable members of Maine society without input from the Democratic members of the Legislature. The Maine Democrats feel they have no alternative but to capitulate because Republicans have the majority and "Democrats don't fight." It is my understanding that partial Medicare drug coverage will end after 36 mos. following a organ transplant. These drugs are vital for life for all transplant patients and the idea that the inability to pay for these expensive drugs can result in organ rejection is appalling! Something must be done about this. For instance, it is 4 times more expensive for a patient to be on dialysis than for the continued coverage of these necessary drugs!

Would people want to see programs that address the needs of obese children through FQHC's (Federally qualified Healthcare Centers) that is in place and working continue to be funded when there is a proven record of success in the treatment of obese children?

I know for a fact that some of the shrubs in the landscape at the White House are extremely allergenic male plants. The Obama daughters have allergies and this would be good for them, and more importantly, it would set a good example for the rest of the country.

Restore Antitrust Controls on the Health Insurance Industry

The FDA should have at least equal representation from herbal and alternative medicine concerns as big pharma and Monsanto. The head of the FDA should be a whistleblower, someone with a record of standing up to corruption. If people believe the FDA is corrupt, and there is plenty of evidence for that, they will not heed its warnings or value it's approval. We need to be able to regain confidence that the goal of the FDA is really to protect US citizens, not the interests of pharmaceutical companies at the expense of our choices, health and income.
