GunsanityThere is an extremely vocal crowd of gun-loving Americans out there. They have succeeded in turning a lot of the country into the Wild West. Evey day we here about another mass shooting incident. In any other civilized country people would realize that making guns available to anyone who wants one is recipe for disaster. In Australia it only took one such incident to get laws passed severly restricting gun availability. There is no justification for the easy availability of guns in our country. The 2nd Amendment clearly states that the right to bear arms is in the context of a "well-trained militia". It's obvious that meant you can have a gun with proper training and oversight and responsibility. The authors of the 2nd Amendmendment certainly could not have foreseen a future where there are more guns than people in the United States.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bob J. Smith-Wesson

Restoring PatriotismAt the ripe old age of 65, I've watched American Patriotism dwindle over the years to what I now consider to be the lowest point in my lifetime. The biggest reason for this is that Americans now tend to identify with smaller and smaller groups rather than with Americans as a whole. (i.e. African-Americans, Latino-Americans, Christian Americans, non-Christian-Americans), etc. This began with McCarthyism in the 1950's when the words 'under God' were inserted into The Pledge of Allegiance. Restoring The Pledge of Allegiance to it's pre-1954 wording (without 'under God') will go a long way in uniting Americans AS Americans FIRST, without the sub-groups.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dave Camarca

Keep Political Ads off PBS and NPRSesame Street, brought to you by Mitt Romney. Up next, Downton Abbey, but first, a word from Obama’s Super PAC. This is no joke! A U.S. appeals court struck down a ban on political ads on public broadcasting. That means your local PBS or NPR station could start running nasty attack ads right away. Many Americans turn to public TV or radio to escape the offensive political ads that have flooded commercial stations. Polluting public programming with these misleading and negative ads is not in keeping with the original vision of noncommercial broadcasting. An overwhelming majority of Americans say public funding for public media is money well spent. We need to invest in public media, not open it up to dirty Super PAC money. Please sign this petition now. Tell PBS and NPR to keep their stations free of nasty attack ads. -- This petition is in partnership with Free Press (www.freepress.net).33,881 of 35,000 SignaturesCreated by Candace Clement

Decriminalize Marijuana in KansasThe title says it all, folks. It's high time (no pun intended) that we put an end this double standard in regards to those things that are much, much worse: ex. Alcohol, cigarettes.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Craig Gauthier

Student loan forgivenessThe banks have already made their money through penalities by denying differment and forberance. Inspite of all the payments that people like me made in the past their current loan amount is twice the original loan now. I know I can not pay this loan in my life time. I beleive there are so money people who can not be able to pay. The area of study matters. My area of study did not allow me to make enough money to support my family and at the same time meet other obligations like student loans. It should be foregiven.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Biratu Woda

PROTECTING THE VOTEMost of us realize that the Presidential elections in 2000 as well as 2004 were both stolen. The best way to protect against this from happening again is to pass a national law that supersedes all state election laws in that, any state wherein the results of a n election of any kind would be subject to an automatic recount if the results fell outside of the margin of error. Any wrongdoing discovered in the process of the recount would subject those charged to be charged legally & if found guilty to be subjected to a minimum prison sentence of 5 years up to 50 years.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jim Crowley

Stop unidentified perpetrators of gun violence. In view of the increased anonymous gun violence in the US, and the fact that the Supreme Court has prohibited limits on gun ownership, we need to take a new tack to stem this violent tide.20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Janet Wolff
