• Stop the Tower on the River
The Riverside and North Riverside neighborhoods repeatedly come together to protect our historic neighborhoods from business encroachment that would negatively impact the aesthetic of our historic neighborhoods, lower property values and invite further development within the river corridors. With the sole exception of David Foster, who is familiar with the aesthetic and spirit of the neighborhood, the MAPC voted in favor of the Conditional Use Permit made by Central Plains Development, Greg Ferris Consulting, and APC Towers, Raleigh, NC. However, our DAB, also intimately knowledgeable about Riverside/North Riverside, voted to not recommend approval. We ask that T-Mobile explore collocation on existing towers, micro-towers on electric poles or alternative locations that would be less egregious. This tower does not need to be erected at the entrance to the historic Riverside neighborhoods. We plead with our City Council to not allow one business-owner, his broker and an out-of-state investor to desecrate our riverbank and forever change the entrance to the city's historic neighborhoods along the Little Arkansas River. A 110-foot cell phone tower would have an undue effect on the health, safety, and welfare of the community as they tie to the aesthetics of the Riverside neighborhoods.

  • Repave Telegraph Ave
For over 10 years, the Temescal Telegraph Business Improvement District (TTBID) has been trying to get the City of Oakland to repave Telegraph Ave. between 45th and 51st Streets. The City itself has ranked this street as one of the worst streets in the city (ranked as Poor/Failing at <30, when 100 is the top score). Now, this stretch of Telegraph Ave is barely passable, with pedestrians and bicyclists hurt frequently and causing costly repairs to vehicles. The hazardous state of the road is a threat to the safety of the Oakland community. Telegraph Ave between 45th Street and 51st St., one of Oakland’s major thoroughfares, is in the heart of a bustling commercial district. The crumbling street has over 25,000 cars per day, 4 freeway on and off ramps, thousands of bicyclists and pedestrians and a major AC Transit bus line. The State just increased gas taxes to increase funding for things like street repair, and a year ago Oakland’s voters approved a $600 million bond issue for the same purpose. It is simply inexcusable that this key part of a major thoroughfare is left to crumble year after year after year. It’s time to pave this section of Telegraph now.

  • Halt "Option 2" plans for the reconstruction of Wayzata Blvd. and Superior intersection
I am concerned about the city’s plan to move forward with reconstruction of the Wayzata Blvd. and Superior Ave. intersection to direct business traffic down Wayzata Blvd to Broadway rather than down Superior Ave. to the new commercial district. If you are signing in support of this petition and live outside of Wayzata please indicate in the comment your concern with the project and any specific connection you have with Wayzata.

  • Say No to Sterling Relief Drain Conversion
Here at Say No to Sterling Relief Drain Conversion, we are driven by a single goal; to make ourselves heard. We do not want to convert the Sterling Relief Drain Corridor from Dequindre to Freedom Hill into a 'drain trail' that is touted by Macomb County. We feel the trails are redundant and the 8 million should be spent for other infrastructure, specifically our roads.

  • Secretary Carson: Don't Betray MLK's Legacy by Changing HUD's Mission
50 years ago, spurred to action by the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Congress passed the Fair Housing Act and gave the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) the responsibility of enforcing anti-discrimination and segregation in housing. Now, Secretary Carson is following up his actions to undermine fair housing by trying to change HUD's mission to remove language that states their commitment to ending discrimination and for creating affordable housing for all. Secretary Carson works for us, the People, and HUD's mission is his job description. Sign on now to tell Secretary Carson that we aren't going to go along with him moving the goal posts on his duties. The millions of people who rely on HUD and the tens of millions more who qualify for assistance need him to do the job he was hired to do!

  • College Students (12 credit hours or more) receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance without em...
Policymakers should take steps to improve students' access to existing federal programs, including expanding the SNAP eligibility requirements for college students. Almost as bad as the hunger itself is the stress that you're going to be hungry. Not being able to eat correctly makes it a struggle. Many students report that It is hard to study and focus after carrying a full load and working.

  • End Vehicle Human Habitation
A family member was fondled and held against her will until she was able to get away by biting and elbowing the predator. This happened on the corner of Wilmington Avenue and Gage Avenue, which is clearly infested with unregistered and unpermitted RV's, recreational, and regular vehicles that are being used to live in. All these unpermitted vehicles are also parked feet away from an elementary school, where a person living in one of these recreational vehicles jumped the school gate and entered school grounds. Please help us keep our city safe.

  • Stop the Concord NC Tower Over Communities
Our community pool is within 600 feet of the tower, which is at the beginning of our development and where everyone gets a first impression when visiting, but more importantly when looking to purchase a home in our community. My home is very close to the tower site, which means I will see it every day when I go out the front door. I am concerned about the waves the tower puts off which can have health implications for my family. Health of my family, eyesore every day for me and my community, and decreased home values are why I am staring this petition.
