• Stop Barstool Blackout from encouraging rape
Barstool Blackout is an organizer for parties geared towards college students that blatantly makes jokes about the degradation and rape of women. The founder of the Barstool Blackout website http://www.barstoolu.com/ says it is all in good satirical "fun." Send him the message that it is unacceptable to encourage rape.

  • Repeal the Wrongful Birth Bill
In the beginning of March 2012, Arizona passed the bill 1359 that amends title 12, chapter 6, section 12-718, also known as the Wrongful Birth Bill. This bill states that a doctor cannot be sued for medical malpractice if he or she withholds information from a mother about a child's potential health issues that could influence her decision to have an abortion even at the cost of the mother's life. This is not about being pro-life or pro-choice this is about protecting a woman's right to make an informed decision about the wellbeing of her child.

  • Stop Arizona HB 2036 to protect women's right to choose
HB 2036 bans abortions after 20 weeks, well actually 18 weeks becuase the bill states that the gestational age of the fetus should be "calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period of the pregnant woman" (2 weeks before the egg and sperm actually meet up). Additionally, under this law, if a doctor performs an abortion after that 18-weeks, he or she can be charged with a crime, have his or her license revoked or suspended, and can be held liable for civil penalties if the father of the fetus decides to pursue legal action. The bill also requires a mandatory ultrasound for anyone seeking an abortion at any stage of pregnancy (hello, transvaginal probes) and mandates that a doctor offer to show a pregnant woman the ultrasound, describe it to her verbally and provide her with a photo of "the unborn child." It would also require a woman to wait 24 hours after the ultrasound before she can obtain an abortion. This bill has already passed the Arizona Senate. We need to let the Arizona House and Gov. Jan Brewer know that the people oppose this bill.

  • Remove Rush Limbaugh from the Air.
When, Sandra Fluke, Georgetown University law student, advocated for full medical coverage, including contraception, the exercise of her rights enraged Rush Limbaugh to the point where he called her names, misrepresented what she said and asked her to make sex tapes for him. Given Mr. Limbaugh's behavior, we ask that you remove his show from the air so that he can no longer spread the contagion of cruelty and anger toward those with whom he disagrees. Do not facilitate the spread of more hate from your radio station.

  • Opposition to SB 0290
SB 290 that prohibits abortion in Indiana unless a physician determines that the abortion is necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman. This bill blatantly contradicts Roe v. Wade and was drafted as a test case for overturning the U.S. Supreme Court ruling. The bill states that any physician who knowingly performs an abortion will receive a C-felony.

  • Wisconsin Republicans: End Your War on Women
While speaking at a Tea Party rally in Milwaukee, far-right Wisconsin U.S. Senator Ron Johnson stated that women who can't afford contraceptive coverage should just "Google It." Unfortunately, Ron Johnson's view that women who can't afford birth control should just "Google it" is just the latest attack in the GOP war on Wisconsin women: Scott Walker is on record as stating his support for amending our Wisconsin constitution to ban common forms of birth control and outlaw abortion across the board -- even in cases of rape and incest, or if a woman's life is in danger. Rebecca Kleefisch posted on Facebook that she agreed with the statement that "child victims of rape and incest should view their resulting pregnancies as an opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade." Foster Friess, a $104,600 donor to Scott Walker, stated on national television that women who can't afford birth control should just put a "Bayer aspirin between their knees." Right-wing members of the Republican Party are waging a war on women in Wisconsin and all across the country. By signing our letter to Senator Ron Johnson, you'll help us turn the tide and send a clear message to Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch: Women are fired up to elect new leaders who will stand up for families and access to affordable, quality health care and family planning options.

  • Down with Limbaugh
The Constitution may protect Mr. Limbaugh's right to free speech, but it doesn't guarantee him a radio show platform for his offensive, lewd nuggets of "common-sense". End Rush's reign of racism, sexism, and ignorance. Get his lewd mouth off of the afternoon airwaves in my home town of Effingham, IL, WCRA 1090 AM.
