• End The Electoral College
Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 200,000 votes. Granted, a thin margin but never the less, it is a win. Your vote should count but The Electoral College saw fit to ignore that and install Trump as your President. The Electoral College is outdated and betrays Democracy, Majority Rule and a "Government of the people, by the people and for the people". Elections should be based on what the public wants, not on what the Electoral College decides to give us. Please, sign my petition to disband and completely End The Electoral College.

  • Fix the broken Electoral College - It’s time for National Popular Vote
Many Americans are outraged that for the second time in five elections, the presidential candidate who won the most popular votes lost the election. And every presidential election, candidates are forced to only compete in a handful of swing states, and effectively ignore voters in every other state in the union. The winner-take-all Electoral College system that led to this anti-democratic outcome must be changed, so that voters in all 50 states have a say in choosing our president. Here’s how to do it: states can decide how they award their electoral votes, so if enough require their electors to vote for the winner of the nationwide popular vote (instead of who won in that state,) it would fix the problems of the Electoral College without needing to amend the Constitution. This National Popular Vote compact wouldn’t take effect until enough states joined in, but we’re closer to that than you might think -- ten states (California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington) and the District of Columbia have already signed on, totaling 165 electoral votes of the needed 270. Activating the National Popular Vote compact would reshape our democracy for the better. Not only would it ensure that the person who actually got more votes win the presidency, but it would also force candidates to spend time engaging with voters in all 50 states, instead of just a handful swing states. In 2016, 95% of campaign spending and candidate visits were in just 12 states. We don’t know for certain who would have won this past election if National Popular Vote had been in place, but at the very least, we would end up with one winner, and not two -- and a democracy where every voter has a say in picking the president, regardless of where they live. If you’re upset that the Electoral College swung this election, then the National Popular Vote compact is the most effective and practical way to change our system for the better. Please add your name today to tell lawmakers in your state to sign onto the National Popular Vote compact.

  • Make Keith Ellison the DNC Chair
The Democratic Party needs to be transformed from the ground up. New leadership without ties or obligations to Wall Street or polluter interests is needed. Climate hawk Rep. Keith Ellison, an early Bernie Sanders supporter and the first Muslim elected to Congress, is the right choice. Rep. Ellison has been endorsed by Sen. Sanders for the job, and has the experience, principles, and organizational skills to lead the Democratic Party in opposition to the Trump-Pence-McConnell-Ryan-Roberts administration. He is the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a member of the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee and the Congressional Black Caucus, and the founder of the Congressional Consumer Justice Caucus. Democratic Party leaders leading the fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline such as Tulsi Gabbard, former DNC vice chair, and Jane Kleeb, chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party and former co-chair of the Democratic National Committee Youth Council, should also be considered for leadership positions. When elected, Rep. Ellison must make rebuilding the Democratic Party in all fifty states to represent and defend the working people of this nation of all colors and creeds his full-time priority.

  • Appoint Keith Ellison as DNC Chair
It is abundantly clear that the Democratic Party is in need of new leadership. Deborah Wasserman-Schultz, the former chair, was forced to resign after emails showed her interfering in the primary between Sen. Sanders and Sec. Clinton. The interim chair, Donna Brazile, has recently been found to have done the exact same thing: she leaked questions to Sec. Clinton's campaign to aid her in her debates against Bernie Sanders. Frankly put, the Democratic National Committee's last two leaders have been mired in controversy and ineptitude, and after giving away full control of the House, the Senate, and the White House to Republicans, it's time to appoint a truly strong and progressive leader to take the reins. Someone who has a finger on the pulse of the American middle class, and who has a long track record of standing up for the people in a fair, honest, and unwavering way. Keith Ellison is that leader, and its time we show the DNC that millions of Americans agree. Please sign our petition.

  • Democrats Calling for the Removal of DNC Leadership
As the Democratic National Committee has been responsible for organizing the campaigns of Democratic politicians seeking public office to advance the interests of the people and members of the Democratic Party, and as the DNC has utterly and completely failed in this responsibility such that Republicans now control; 1) The Presidency, 2) Both Houses of Congress, 3) At least 33 of 50 State Governorships, 4) 69 of 99 State Legislatures, and 5) are now empowered to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court after historic obstructionism of a sitting President. Due to these myriad failures it has become clear to the members of the Democratic Party that our leadership is either unable or unwilling to effectively carry out their responsibility in advancing our Party Platform, and has therefore failed in its obligation to Democrats and Progressives nationwide. We are therefore resolved and obliged as Progressives, and as members of the Democratic Party to have those responsible for this pattern of consistent defeat and failure removed from their positions immediately. We are further resolved to see Keith Ellison elected as National Chair of the DNC, as well as any other officials who are both representative of and committed to the strong progressive principles, the elimination of the corrupting influence of money in politics, and strengthening the ideals espoused by the 2016 Democratic Party Platform.

  • Call upon the Electoral College to not vote for Donald Trump
In the interests of the popular vote, in the interests of core American ideals and Democracy, in opposition to the supremacist defined and spirited political mob overwhelming our Nation's Capital, I am adding my voice to the call to the Electoral College Voters. I am calling upon them to protect our Nation as they were intended to do, against populous mob rule. Trump is not qualified to be President, and this is widely known and appreciated. His narcissistic personality, actions, words, and choices used to agitate this hate defined mob mentality, has turned him into a true Demagogue who is a threat to our Democracy, which is exactly the tyrannical threat that the Electoral College was created to defend against. On Dec 19, I am asking the Electoral Voters to vote against Donald Trump. Courage is needed here in fulfilling the duties of the Electoral College. The threat is real, is clear, and the effects are already beginning to materialize. Electoral Voters, uphold your duty to protect the Constitution and the Democracy of the United States of America. It is NOT your duty to vote in accordance with the popular vote. If that was the case, the Electoral College would have no purpose or meaning, and we would just use the Popular Vote. Your duty is to defend the Constitution and its Republic from tyranny, from a populous authoritarian Demagogue and the destructive hate defined movement he has constructed to propel him to power. This appeal to duty is not done in support of any other specific candidate, including Hillary. This appeal is not partisan in nature. Voting for any of the candidates except for Trump, third party or not, is an option. The validity of this argument is not based on political affiliation, liking or disliking, or on specific policies, or in this case, the lack of policies. The argument justifying the Electoral College acting is based on the noted patterns and traits of a Demagogue manipulating popular sentiment, riding that support into power, then undermining the Democratic Republic, and seizing power as a tyrant. Socrates and Plato wrote about this, history reflected their political theory, and the Founding Fathers added the Electoral College specifically to address the risk of such a threat. Trump exhibits all of the patterns and traits of such a rising Demagogue, and thus so matching the threat that their institution was designed to neutralize, the Electoral College should act and vote against Trump. Trump represents a clear and present danger to the security and prosperity of the United States, an assault upon core and evolved American values and ideals. I believe that your duty is clear upon objective reflection, and I wish you courage, strength, and resolve in fulfilling that duty on Dec 19, when you vote against Donald Trump, and prevent the success of his assault upon our Democracy. We the Voters failed and were unprepared for the supremacist populous movement on Election Day. You can not fail, you are the last steadfast defense and safe guard of Democracy left, and it was for this exact purpose that the Founding Fathers created your institution. Profoundly and Truly, Thank you for fulfilling your service and duty.

  • Ask Ilhan Omar to deliver 2017 SOTU Democratic Response
In the hours since the election results have come in, I've watched with concern the Democratic party's rudderless response to their loss and their instinctive recoil from pushing toward a more inclusive and representative government. I don't want to have the progress made by Americans (including Ilhan Omar) overshadowed by the regression in national politics. I think its important to reflect and reassess but not overlearn the wrong lessons (like spending even less time and energy and focus on minority voices). • Change amendment for Electoral College vote
In 2000 and 2016, the Electoral College decided the Presidential election, not the people. This should change. According to the US Constitution, our state legislatures can help with this.

  • Stop Governor Greitens! Right to Work - Wrong for Missouri (Union and Non-Union Workers)!
The newly elected Missouri Governor Eric Greitens has pledged to pass the anti-union Right to Work Law. Right to Work is an attack on all workers, and will erode the standard of living for all Missourians, giving employers all the power over wages, benefits, and working conditions. Facts about 'Right to Work' for Less: - The average worker in 'Right to Work' states earns $6,109 (12.1%) less per year than workers in states without 'Right to Work' legislation. - Median household income in states with these laws is $8,174 (13.9%) less than in other states. - Poverty rates are higher in states with right to work laws (15.3% overall and 21.4% for children), compared with poverty rates of 12.8% overall and 18.0% for children in states without these laws - People under the age of 65 in states with right to work laws are more likely to be uninsured (13.0%, compared with 9.4% in free-bargaining states) - The rate of workplace deaths is 49% higher in states with right to work laws, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Don’t be fooled! As Martin Luther King, Jr. said in 1961, “In our glorious fight for civil rights, we must guard against being fooled by false slogans, as ‘right to work.’ It provides no ‘rights’ and no ‘works.’ Its purpose is to destroy labor unions and the freedom of collective bargaining… We demand this fraud be stopped.” Please sign this petition and share with others. Governor Greitens needs to be stopped!

  • Appoint Merrick Garland during the recess
When I started this petition I thought there was going to be a proper recess in January - how naive I feel now. Of course the Republicans are planning a false reconvening to deny President Obama his rights til the very end. Please go to change.org and sign this petition. The Electoral College was formed to stop an uninformed population voting in an unacceptable candidate.
