Donald Trump wants to require all Muslims to register in a national database; to carry special ID cards; to be tracked by the government. He is citing World War II internment camps as a precedent for proposed Muslim registration. During the election, a reporter from NBC asked him: “Mr. Trump, why would Muslim databases not be the same thing as requiring Jews to register in Nazi Germany?” He had no answer. The idea that any group of citizen should be singled out, profiled and discriminated is profoundly un-American and immoral by any religious standard. Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) recently investigated Jaindl Turkey Farms, the famed supplier of Thanksgiving turkey to the White House for the past 50 years. While Jaindl has been rated in the top 98th percentile for animal welfare, investigators found thousands of baby birds in cramped and filthy conditions, taken away from their mothers, and with their beaks seared off. Many turkeys were unable to walk due to broken limbs. In the course of the investigation, DxE rescued a turkey and named her Avery (PresidentsTurkey.com). President Obama, a self-proclaimed animal lover, has the opportunity to take a strong stance against violence this Thanksgiving. Sign the petition and ask President Obama to pardon all the turkeys presented to the White House and cut ties with Jaindl and other animal abusing corporations.

A president is obligated to make decisions for the benefit of the country without any thought of personal or familial gain.

Mitch McConnell held up Merrick Garland's appointment to the Supreme Court because he wanted to hear the voice of the American people. The American people have now spoken and given 2 million more votes to the Democratic candidate than the Republican candidate. The Senate must therefore either confirm Garland or have Hillary Clinton make the next appointment.

As the owner of numerous companies spanning the entire globe, Donald Trump could take office with the most blatant conflicts of interest in the history of American politics. The scope of Trump’s empire means that his businesses are impacted by a wide range of government policies, including taxes, consumer protection, civil justice, financial regulation, employee rights, foreign policy, and much more. Trump has proposed transferring control to a misnamed “blind trust” under the direction of his children. That’s more like an all-seeing trust! It would do nothing to eliminate the staggering conflicts of interest. The American people need to know that Trump is not running the government to benefit his own corporate empire.
