• Dem Senators: Do not allow Trump to appoint Supreme Court Justice
Trump does not have a mandate. A majority of Americans voted for Hillary. Republican senators have refused to allow Obama, who does have a mandate, to have his nomination for Supreme Court Justice voted on. The case for Democrats against a Trump nomination is much more clear.

  • Sentencing Enhancement
The courts are sentencing defendants to gang/gun enhancements per victim involved and not per incident. Stacking these enhancements makes the sentencing unrealistic. To sentence 100+ years in prison serves no real purpose since the defendant has nothing to lose while incarcerated, good behavior or bad behavior. With 100+ years there's no possibility of rehabilitation because the defendant knows there is no release from the prison system with that type of sentence.

  • Donald Trump's Tax Returns. The American people need to know whether Donald Trump has committed ...
Donald Trump has not been honest with the American people about his tax returns. Without that knowledge, there is no way for Americans to know if he has committed crimes which would keep him from assuming the office of the President.

  • Abolish the Electoral College
The Electoral College is an antiquated institution which was originally meant to disenfranchise the electorate at large. The President-Elect should be the person who received the most votes, period. This did not happen in 1876, 1888, 2000, and in 2016.

  • President-elect Trump must acknowledge and address Climate Change
The democratic process has spoken, and Donald Trump will be sworn in as the President of the United States on January 20, 2017. Whether or not you supported Trump in the election is no longer an issue. The issue at hand is this: You love this planet. As an outdoorsman or woman your time spent outdoors is therapeutic, exhilarating, singular, and convivial all at the same time. The unfortunate truth (No pun intended) is that our President-elect does not believe in climate change. Environmental science has come too far to be dismissed as a "hoax" implemented by our industrial competition to keep us out of a global manufacturing economy. The fact of the matter is that the United States has evolved past the industrial revolution, if this nation wants to become an industrial powerhouse again it will have to be done in an environmentally conscious manner. That's where you come in, sign this petition to get President-elect Trump to start by simply ACKNOWLEDGING that Climate Change exists, and we'll take it from there, as a nation.

  • End the Electoral College
For the second time in the last five elections, the person who won the popular vote did not win the presidency. We demand a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College and institute the direct election of the president by the people of the United States of America.

  • Restore Public Access to Public Land and Water
Wisconsin residents have been able to cross the right-away for over a 100 years but now have been denied this access due to a law change in 2006 by the railroad. Over 255 crossings will now be illegal due to this legislation.

  • Dan May: Press Charges Against Jack Rogers for the Murder of Jesse Garcia
Jesse Garcia, 23, was murdered in a Taco Bell parking lot in Colorado Springs on July 17th, 2016. His murderer, Jack Rogers, an 80-year-old white male at the time of the incident, has a documented history of racial harassment in his neighborhood, a family connection to an officer in the CSPD, and a case that doesn't add up. The 4th District Attorney Dan May made a quick decision not to press charges against Jack Rogers based on a surveillance video that has not yet been released. We demand that charges be brought against Jack Rogers, allowing a full investigation into the nature of the shooting. As District Attorney, Dan May's job is to bring justice to those whose voices have been silenced, and he failed to do so. Why Press Charges? • Police report lists the two as strangers, when in reality, Jack lived across the street from Jesse's grandmother. • Jack kept meticulous records of who entered and exited the neighborhood, frequently using racial slurs to describe Jesse's family members. • While the case is described as a road-rage incident, there seems to be no evidence of this other than Jack's testimony. • The written report of the video and of witnesses describe Jesse as not gesturing, not raising his voice, not yelling moments before he was shot by Jack. • Jack claims that Jesse grabbed the gun and it accidentally went off, yet no prints of any kind were found on the gun. Jack is a former officer himself and would know about preserving fingerprints. • Jack has a family relationship with a Colorado Springs officer.

  • Make Election Day a Public Transit Fare Holiday
In Illinois, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District is providing free bus rides to the polls on Election Day. [1] Other mass transit districts could do it too. We can't pay people to vote. But we can give all voters something for free, by way of compensation. We have a kind of poll tax now in some urban communities: long lines to vote. That costs people time, and therefore it costs them money; and it discourages them from voting in the future. [2] We should fix this! In the meantime, we could compensate people for their trouble. Sorry about the long line; we're working on that. In the meantime, here's your free ride. Free fares would be a friendly advertisement for voting across many people's day. You get to the subway or bus, and it's free. That would remind people that today is Election Day. A day of free fares on Election Day would be good publicity for mass transit. That's something we need to confront the challenge of climate change: more people using public transit instead of cars. Urge President Obama and Members of Congress to advocate for a public transit fare holiday on Election Day by signing our petition. • Sign Grijalva-Huffman: Aid #NoDAPL protectors at Standing Rock
President Obama has recognized the importance of protecting the sacred lands of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and of allowing for peaceful demonstrations against the Dakota Access Pipeline, which threatens tribal lands. But state & local law enforcement have been escalating the use of force, with riot gear, batons, armed vehicles, sound cannons, and pepper spray being deployed against demonstrators, resulting in over a hundred arrests. Democratic Representatives Raúl Grijalva & Jared Huffman are leading a letter urging President Obama to de-escalate the use of force at Standing Rock. They urge Obama to deny the easement for the Dakota Access Pipeline to cross Lake Oahe. They urge Obama to protect the rights of the water protectors by sending Justice Department observers & urging North Dakota Gov. Dalrymple to withdraw National Guard & other law enforcement personnel that have been deployed around the camp. They oppose the use of federal funds to reimburse North Dakota for its heavy-handed response to protests. Urge your Representative to support the Grijalva-Huffman letter by signing our petition.
