Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned as DNC chairwoman after WikiLeaks published emails showing bias against Bernie Sanders during the presidential primary process. Donna Brazile took over as interim chairwoman and has since faced scrutiny after further WikiLeaks releases showed she had shared a question with Hillary Clinton prior to a CNN town-hall event during the primary. The recent DNC chairs have been mired in controversy that ripped the Democratic Party apart from within. As we debated what really happened, who was to blame, and pointed fingers, Democrats lost the White House to one of the most controversial Republican candidates in history and face a Republican controlled House and Senate. The Democratic Party needs new, unifying leadership. Congressman Ellison has shown that he can bring both wings of the party together. He is a co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, who selflessly transitioned from supporting Sen. Bernie Sanders during the primaries to trying to organize the left in support of Hillary Clinton. Congressman Ellison is someone that Democrats from both wings of the party can easily support. The same can’t be said for others interested in the position. He is the only choice that can reinvigorate grassroots rebuilding of the party more in line with America’s present and future. We need to move away from old school party establishment style politics that failed to energize the party and win the hearts and minds of American voters. He has already lined up support from Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who said that Ellison would be “terrific.” Congressman Ellison also has Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in his corner. There is a growing list of organizations stepping up to endorse him as well such as the 350 Action, National Nurses United, and the Communications Workers for America, and more. Rep. Ellison sits on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Democratic Steering Committee, which determines the party's platform and committee assignments. He also serves as a Chief Deputy Whip for Rep. Steny Hoyer, the Democratic Whip. Congressman Ellison has the experience and would be a step in the right direction to reform the Democratic Party from within as a consensus leader and heal the internal divide by bringing all sides together. For the sake of the Democratic Party and for the sake of our country, we demand that Congressman Keith Ellison be selected as the next Chair of the Democratic National Committee. Donald Trump's silence in the face of the current rise in hate crime, fueled in part by his rhetoric and behavior, belies his promise to be "president for all Americans." We therefore demand he break the silence and publicly denounce and pledge specific action against hate crime. United States hate crime legislation needs strengthening. Some states have no hate crime laws, and it was only in 1993 that hate crime laws were ensured constitutionality. Ours are decades behind other Western Democracies. Overall, there remains imbalance between First Amendment protections, and the protection of hate crime victims. The United States is in dire need of effective, protective hate crime laws. The current crisis lends even greater urgency. The president-elect owes it to all Americans - regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious belief, disability, or political persuasion - to publicly denounce hate crime and pledge concrete action against it.

An erratic, abusive bully just won the White House following a campaign that leveled attacks against Muslims, immigrants, women, communities of color, and so many more of our friends and neighbors. If Trump's administration attempts to turn this bigotry into policy--or if hate groups emboldened by his election target our friends and neighbors--we must all stand up against this aggression. We can't change the election results, but we can make sure that folks who are scared and hurting know that the MoveOn community will not allow the hateful attacks of Trump's campaign to go unanswered. Let's make it clear to all people and communities under attack that we stand united against bigotry.

Hillary has spent her entire career fighting to ensure that every American is given the equality and opportunity promised to them. She would make an excellent Justice and the American people deserve this.

She has shown a clear bias for furthering her own agenda, putting the American public at large in risk of the horrendous ramifications of her actions.

There's been evidence that Russia is interfering with our politics and proof of Trump's connection to Russia, as well as his praise for Putin and his policies. Trump has many big Russian investors, who are losing money. How much does our next Commander-in-Chief owe them and will it affect what he tells Russia?

I feel my civil rights have been violated by manipulation of information through the media which was controlled and directed by government officials, foreign governments and agents of foreign intrigue, which effected the outcome of the election.

There have been multiple reports of harassment, intimidation and brutal physical attacks across the country since the election. Minorities who are US citizens are being targeted, asked to leave the country and told they are not American. This is the not the country our forefathers envisioned. Our elected officials must step up and speak out for the democratic principles our country was founded on.

I have a sister, cousins, other family members, and lots of friends who are in the LGBT community. I have seen the fear in them about the few rights that they have being ripped away from them and becoming second-class citizens in a country that they love. At this point it doesn't matter who you voted for, let's vote for America and keep civil rights for all of our citizens. America was founded by those seeking freedom from persecution and became a haven for those seeking rights and equality. Let's keep it that way.

The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) is an agreement among several U.S. states and the District of Columbia to award all their respective electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the overall popular vote in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The compact is designed to ensure that the candidate who wins the most popular votes is elected president, and it will come into effect only when it will guarantee that outcome. As of 2016, it has been adopted by ten states and the District of Columbia, whose 165 combined electoral votes represent 61.1% of the 270 votes needed for it to have legal force.
