I sent a letter to Debbie Wasserman Schultz requesting a series of debates across the district on the issues that matter most to working Americans, seniors, women, college students, and more. It is my sincere belief that debate is the cornerstone of our democracy, and that the voters deserve a fair opportunity to hear from our opponent and myself. I don’t know if Debbie Wasserman Schultz will agree to this challenge — her record on the presidential debate scheduling suggests someone who is uninterested in a healthy exchange of ideas within our party — but I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. The bear hunt of 2015 was opposed by 75% of the state based on email responses and public media polls. Since then public media polls are up to 92% in opposition to the hunt. FWC is still contemplating another hunt and we, the citizens, would like to gain representation through our counties to demonstrate our opposition to the hunt and influence the FWC commissioners to opt against any future hunt.

Microsoft – a self-proclaimed leader in diversity – is planning to give the Trump-led RNC at least $500,000! Not only that, but they’re planning to provide the Trump-led RNC with all of its tech support needs for free. Trump, who's suggesting his supporters riot if he doesn't win the Republican nomination, has been running a campaign built on violent rhetoric, racially charged imagery, and paranoid conspiracy theories. Just last month, he offered to pay the legal fees for a supporter of his who sucker-punched a peaceful Black protester. And last week, a teenage girl was pepper-sprayed while being a called ‘n**ger lover’ by a Trump supporter at his rally. Microsoft has a history-making choice right now. Once they start writing checks, they are committing to support the platform of someone threatening riots at the convention. After hundreds of thousands of you demanded action, Coca-Cola announced it is terminating its financial sponsorship of the RNC – now it's time for Microsoft to follow suit and dump Trump.

This technology will be needed to fight malnutrition in a population of people expected to reach 9 billion. There are no risks that don't also apply to other breeding methods, and biotechnology should not be stigmatized.

The Panama Papers [1] has highlighted how Panama encourages the formation of anonymous "shell corporations" that help rich people and corporations avoid taxes and help criminals and terrorists launder money. But the leak has also highlighted how that tax evasion and money laundering was facilitated by the Panama trade agreement that Congress approved in 2011 after the Obama Administration, including then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, pushed for its approval. The State Department was aware of warnings from watchdog groups [2] that the Panama trade agreement would make it harder for the U.S. to crack down on tax evasion. [3] In his opposition to the agreement at the time, Sen. Sanders said on the Senate floor, “Panama is a world leader when it comes to allowing wealthy Americans and large corporations to evade US taxes by stashing their cash in offshore tax havens. And the Panama free trade agreement would make this bad situation much worse.” [4] There will be a Democratic debate in New York on April 14; CNN's Wolf Blitzer and Dana Bash and NY1's Errol Louis will be moderators. These two West Virginia county clerks could be the next Kim Davises of voting rights. Kanawha County Clerk Vera McCormick and Cabell County Clerk Karen Cole have rejected at least 1,300 online voter registrations. Now, would-be voters have to sign paper affidavits and snail mail them back -- defeating the entire purpose of online registration. McCormick and Cole say they're worried about fraud, -- but online voter registration is actually much safer than the old-fashioned way. In a Pew study, officials in seven states that've tried it "highlighted reduced opportunities for fraud as a major benefit of online voter registration." And since anyone who fakes their online registration can forge a signature too, these clerks aren't even making the process safer. They're just wasting time that potential voters don't have -- since anyone who wants to vote in the state's primary election needs to be registered by April 19th. We can't let these self-proclaimed voting vigilantes disenfranchise eligible voters with needless bureaucratic obstacles. West Virginia's online voter registration system is a huge step forward for voters that these clerks should be cheering as public officials. Sign your name and tell them their job is to make it easier -- not harder -- for Americans to make themselves heard at the polls.

Because people I know are not able to afford health insurance and are penalized on their Federal taxes and they fall into the hole where they do not qualify for Medicaid. These are good, hard-working people who are at risk in case of illness.

The community of Mt. Pleasant will lose almost 10 acres of beautiful, open and recreational space because the Trident Academy property has been sold to a developer who plans to construct 19 homes starting this fall. We must insist that our town government follow through on its promise to protect and preserve open/recreational space by recognizing the immense quality-of-life benefits this property provides our families. We urge them to vote against its re-zoning and purchase it for the town.

I am the mother of a 14-year-old son who is nonverbal with autism. I cannot begin to tell you how important these services have been in helping my son progress towards being able to communicate with his family, friends, and community and manage his behaviors. We must speak on the behalf of these vulnerable children, and ensure they get the services they so greatly need. If these cuts are passed, more and more providers are going to close their doors and the burden will fall back on our public schools. These services are vital to ensuring these children get the help they need to gain skills that will help them become more independent by the time they reach adulthood. Without these services, what will become of them?

We demand no more tax havens for the wealthy. Make them pay their fair share of taxes.

SB0235 would allow state's attorneys to introduce evidence and testimony in a criminal trial regarding a defendant's history of sexual violence. This change to Maryland law would allow state's attorneys to be more effective in prosecuting serial sexual predators.
