Google: Don't donate to politicians who pander to white supremacists!Republican Rep. Steve Scalise recently admitted to speaking at a white supremacist conference in Louisiana. Turns out it's just the most recent example in a longer string of dog-whistles and pandering to an electorate that repeatedly voted for former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke. Despite this shocking revelation, Scalise — who once described himself as "David Duke without the baggage" — was easily elected by his fellow Republicans to become House Majority Whip. This makes him the third most powerful Republican in the House of Representatives. No one with a history of keeping company with white supremacists should hold such an influential position. Yet Google and the lobbyists representing its interests contributed $15,000 to Scalise between 2012 and 2014, helping him build power and influence in the House. This isn't the first time they've given money to questionable political causes -- in 2012, Google was a major sponsor of the Conservative Political Action Conference, which gave a platform to confirmed white nationalist and anti-gay bigots. Join us in telling Google to decide whose side they're on -- the bigots, and those who pander to them, or the rest of us. Ask them to pledge not to donate any more money to Steve Scalise, or any politician who panders to white supremacists.2,319 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Presente.org

California must ban housing discrimination! With skyrocketing rents and low vacancy rates, we all know how hard it is to find housing these days in California. Why then, does California allow landlords to discriminate against tenants with Section 8 vouchers? The tenants have the money to pay the rent, but it's common in advertisements for apartments to see "NO Section 8." California law does not expressly ban Section 8 discrimination, emboldening landlords to blatantly discriminate against low-income tenants . Sign our petition: California must ban section 8 discrimination.39 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dean Preston

Sign the petition: Shame on Democrats that voted to gut Wall Street reformOn their second day in session, the U.S. House voted on a bill designed to weaken the most important protections of Dodd-Frank. To add insult to injury, 35 Democrats voted with the Republican majority. A week later, after thousands of constituents expressed their displeasure, the House voted again on HR 37. Some of the Democrats got the message and switched their votes, but 29 House Democrats still voted for the bill. The 29 House Democrats were: Brad Ashford (NE-02), Ami Bera (CA-07), Don Beyer (VA-08), Sanford Bishop (GA-02), Julia Brownley (CA-26), Cheri Bustos (IL-17), John Carney (DE-AL), Gerry Connolly (VA-11), Henry Cuellar (TX-28), John Delaney (MD-06), Bill Foster (IL-11), Gwen Graham (FL-02), Brian Higgins (NY-26), Jim Himes (CT-04), Derek Kilmer (WA-06), Ron Kind (WI-03), Rick Larsen (WA-02), Dan Lipinski (IL-03), Sean Maloney (NY-18), Patrick Murphy (FL-18), Scott Peters (CA-52), Jared Polis (CO-02), Mike Quigley (IL-05), Raul Ruiz (CA-36), Kurt Schrader (OR-05), David Scott (GA-13), Terri Sewell (AL-07), Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-09) and Albio Sires (NJ-08). Dodd-Frank was passed in an attempt to prevent another 2008 financial crisis by lowering risk in various parts of the U.S. financial system. Since its passage, Republicans and Democrats in league with Wall St. have done their best to eliminate its most important protections—and leave the U.S. vulnerable to another economic crisis. Votes like this are calculated moves on the part of centrist Democrats to please donors and distance themselves from the Democratic Party. This isn’t the first offense for many of these bad actors and we’ll likely see more votes like this over the next two years. Every time a Democrat abandons the Party to shill for corporations at the expense of their constituents, we must let them know we are watching and won’t forget when it comes time for re-election.6,820 of 7,000 SignaturesCreated by Paul Hogarth

Governor McAuliffe: Uphold Private Property RightsDominion Resources is suing private property owners for refusing to allow the onto their property to survey a new gas pipeline that would stretch through West Virginia to North Carolina. Under Section 56-49.01 of the Virginia Code, gas companies like Dominion do not even require the permission of property owners to come onto their land. This is nothing short of an attack on the constitutional rights of Virginia property owners. It's bad enough that fracking and natural gas exploration poisons our water, land and air and we cannot allow Big Oil to have even more license to be above the law. Governor McAuliffe must classify Section 56-49.01 as unconstitutional and scrap it immediately in an effort to protect our environment and rights as citizens and property owners.2,228 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Drew Hudson

MEDICINE WHEEL ON DAHLONEGA GOLD MUSEUM GROUNDSThe native tribes of Georgia were moved to Oklahoma during the gold rush in Dahlonega and there is very little history at the museum about their loss and struggle. We want a monument of healing added to the museum grounds as soon as we can! This would be a long needed site for forgiveness and justice. A place of reverence, as never to let greed overshadow human rights again in our State.172 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Melanie Bell

CDC: Recognize existence of chronic Lyme DiseaseI was diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease this year and I know it exists. I am an RN and have medical training. It is a growing problem and can be spread by other vectors than deer ticks. I have had the disease most of my life, and didn't even know it until this past year when I became symptomatic and debilitated. I am beginning to respond to treatment. Until the CDC recognizes it as a disease, not enough funding will be put into research to understand it and find a cure.29 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Andrew B. Tims
