• Pass the Immigration Reform
Ever since the announcement on executive action on immigration, the Democrats are supporting the President's decision, while the Republicans opposed it. The only way to call on Speaker Boehner to let the House pass the immigration reform bill is to sign the petition ASAP.

  • Tell Gov. Kasich to Drop The Lawsuit Attacking Ohio Immigrants and Families
Recently, the State of Ohio joined nineteen other states in suing the federal government over the President’s executive action on immigration. In addition to subjecting thousands of Ohio families to deportation, this lawsuit, if successful, would deny work permits to thousands of Ohio immigrants and deprive our state of $41 million in much-needed tax revenue over the next five years. President Obama had to act on immigration after Republicans in Congress chose to do nothing. And despite the fact that President Obama's immigration action will benefit countless families in Ohio and generate millions of dollars in taxes, Gov. Kasich and Attorney General Mike DeWine are joining with their political partisans to block it. In the past, Gov. Kasich has been a commonsense voice for immigrant families in Ohio, but this lawsuit changes everything. We need Gov. Kasich to immediately end the lawsuit against President Obama and stop the attacks against immigrant workers and families living in Ohio. They are part of our state and they deserve a way to become documented residents, not shunned and set up for deportation.

  • The media needs to give daily attention to the crisis of veteran suicides
When something shames us, we, and the media prefer to ignore it, but difficult problems need constant attention or they get lost. When there is one tragic death causing protests, we see it in the news everyday for weeks, yet we forget that 22 American veterans are dying a tragic death EVERYDAY and it has been going on for YEARS! Are thousands of veterans worth the same attention as one or a few tragic urban killings? This is a national crisis deserving constant national attention. Our veterans in despair need the help that could come if we would prevent their plight from getting lost among all the other much smaller tragedies.

  • Dept. of Justice Investigation of The Little Rock Police Department
The U.S. Dept. of Justice recently announced that it will perform a "pattern and practice" investigation of the Ferguson/St. Louis County Police Department. This effort came in response to claims by citizens of the shooting of unarmed black men, excessive force and racial discrimination/profiling. We deserve the same independent review in Little Rock.

  • Restore GEA to Galway CSD in 2015-2016
As a school community, Galway CSD has already made significant reductions to critical components of our annual school budget as rising costs outpaced revenue. Staff positions, class sections, and services have been reduced for students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. We are working together as a district to make difficult decisions and reduce spending. Now we need your continued support to ensure the adopted state budget upholds the funding promises made to school districts across the state, by eliminating the GEA. This year alone (in the 2014-15 state aid calculations), Galway lost $920,128 in funding that was promised to our district, but taken back to balance the state budget. Every year since 2010, Galway has lost approximately one million dollars to the GEA, and this disturbing trend must be addressed. We ask you to take immediate action to prevent long-term negative effects on the quality of public education for Galway children. Abolish the Gap Elimination Adjustment in this year’s state budget.

  • Release an American Girl doll with a Disability
I have had Autism since I was 1 years old, and I also have food allergies to dairy, nuts and peanuts. I love American Girl and all, but it's tough controlling yourself when your autistic. I want a doll that I can relate to. I love reading about how it feels like to disappoint your cousin (Kanani), how it feels to have stage fright (Saige) and how it feels to have a popular sister and you always mess up (Isabelle). Now, it's time I have a turn sharing what it feels like having Autism.

  • Don’t let Florida’s decision to gut clean energy and energy efficiency stand!
At a time when impacts of climate change and the clean energy economy are both growing, Florida just voted to….gut energy efficiency goals and terminate a solar program! The backward decision by the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC), the agency charged with regulating utilities, was done at the behest of big, fossil-fuel dependent utilities like Duke Energy that succeeded in pressuring the PSC to do its bidding. This decision sets up our kids to live with dirty power plants that pollute our air and climate many decades in the future. Florida is importing pollution, and exporting dollars. This despite the fact that the Sunshine State has enough solar power potential to meet all of the state’s energy needs many times over. As Florida confronts climate impacts like sea level rise and extreme storms, we need to support every pathway to cut carbon pollution--not create more of it. That’s why we’re demanding that the Public Service Commission reconsider and reverse its vote at one of its first meetings in 2015. If enough ratepayers tell the Public Service Commission that supporting clean, healthy, homegrown energy and energy efficiency is more important than lining the pockets of utilities and fossil fuel corporations, they will have to listen. Please join me in telling the Florida Public Service Commission to restore energy efficiency and solar programs! Thank you for taking action.
