The flagship campus of the University of Hawaii system is in decline because its leadership is out of touch with the students, faculty, and staff that are the University of Hawaii. We must reverse this decline by appointing citizens to the BOR leadership with the knowledge and skills necessary to help lead a class I research university forward to the benefit of the state of Hawaii.

WPEA’s bargaining teams have been arguing all summer that classified state employees need a fair COLA along with stable health care costs, but management still doesn’t get it!

Public Health is a safety net program for vulnerable individuals living uninsured and uncovered by the Affordable Care Act. Nearly 50,000 clients may lose their Public Health services beginning January 1, 2015. Most of these cuts will happen in the South County. Public Health services that will be cut or reduced include WIC, family planning, Pediatrics, Maternity Support Services, Nurse Family Partnership, and others. These cuts will decrease and privatize lifesaving services. These cuts will widen health disparities, particularly those along race and class lines in the South End of King County. When Public Health Services close, the whole community will suffer with increased rates of disease and chronic health problems. Stand with Communities 4 Public Health. One county. One health department. One healthy community.

I am a property owner, voter and taxpayer who tries to support local businesses. I see first hand how hard Elaine works and want to support her business. I find it unethical to expect the business to shoulder the City's responsibilities.

As a mother of 4 children with experience as an educator and administrator of charter schools, I am encouraged to help meet the needs of a local community by serving as liaison between a local governing board and the Charter School Advisory Board.

Family visits, or conjugal visits, have been a part of this state's prison system for years until recently. These visits have been proven to help the inmates keep family ties strong while being a part of the system. Being able to visit with their wives and children without having to worry about others watching their every move, or even just lying in the same bed as their significant other can mean the world to anyone that is involved. Please help bring these visits back into the system!

Help protect the defenseless animals whose only home in the Arctic is being destroyed faster than they can adapt. They need our help, our protection, because they are stuck in a situation they have no say in. Polar bears are being stranded out in the open ocean in broken ice that will soon melt and swim for days until they find a bigger piece of ice, some die from exhaustion. Whales are also under persecution by whaling boats, these whales cannot sustain their populations from mass slaughter, help these animals survive these hard times.

After uniformed police in Rhialto, CA wore body cameras, instances of complaints against the department dropped dramatically along with accounts of use of force. With all the recent and tragic uses of force against civilians by police, it would serve us as a nation to equip our uniformed law enforcement officials with the means to record interactions with the public. This both dissuades civilians from provoking police, and protects civilians from undue use of force. Please sign this petition to promote integrity in law enforcement and help prevent tragedies in the future.

We urge you to stand tall with and support the peaceful protestors who are within their fundamental rights to ask for a free and fair election. Please show your support for a peaceful and democratic Pakistan. A truly Democratic Pakistan will not only be an asset to our long term interests in the region but also serve as beacon of hope and peace for the entire world.

Justice needs to be done for these poor dogs. Not only were they abused because of dog fighting, but these animals were also tortured. 65 abused, suffering dogs living with heavy chains around their necks were found on the property. “Some of them were so malnourished, with skin stretched so tightly over their bones, that they had open sores just from sitting on the ground.” One of the female pit bulls rescued during the operation, named Honor by the ARC volunteers, even had all of her teeth removed, most likely so she could not fight back during forced breeding in a "rape cage". ARC volunteers named her Honor for her quiet, broken spirit and yet her readiness to trust and love immediately.
