Burger King is considering a plan to buy a Canadian coffee chain, Tim Hortons -- this would allow them to move their headquarters out of the country. (1) Surprisingly, outspoken advocate against tax loopholes and billionaire Warren Buffett is expected to invest heavily in the deal. (2) If Burger King does indeed move their headquarters, it will mean they will be taxed at a much lower rate than American-based companies in a scheme that is referred to as a corporate "inversion." The news comes after dozens of companies have pursued similar schemes which will cost us billions in lost taxes. If we don't stop this now, get ready for more and more and more companies to "invert" and move their “headquarters” to avoid paying their fair share. We need champions like Warren Buffett to stand up against schemes like this, and not finance them! That's why we're hoping to show him that investing in this tax dodge is a bad move. I'm confident that if enough of us stand up we can stop these inversions. Earlier this month, Walgreens backed off a plan to move their headquarters overseas after public outcry. We need a working government, if Congress has worked with the President Obama our economy would be much stronger.

Too many innocent lives are being unjustly taken by law enforcement. It has become a shoot 1st culture among law enforcement when it comes to the policing of African Americans. Everyone has the inalienable rights of LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The right to live isn't being extended to African Americans In police encounters. If a citizen is unarmed and doesn't pose and imminent threat to an officer's life then it's the officer's duty to extend the right to life back to the citizen. We feel it's the federal governments duty to protect the rights of its citizens. Also we feel that the training of law enforcement should be federally regulated so there is a uniform approach to dealing with the events that lead to killing of Micheal Brown and countless others and the hand of law enforcement...

Governor Rick Scott has previously dodged climate change by stating that he is "not a scientist." And when he unveiled his transparent "Let’s Keep Florida Beautiful" campaign, there was one glaring omission: the phrase "climate change." It's not Beetlejuice; it's not Voldemort. What would appear if he said "climate change" three times? Common sense? Gov. Scott has now had a meeting with climate scientists where evidence and solutions were presented -- he no longer has any excuse. Get the governor to stop dodging and announce his administration's plan to combat climate change.

During his days in Washington, Scott Brown’s priorities were clear. He voted three times to protect special tax breaks worth billions of dollars to his friends in Big Oil, while taking more oil and gas money than all but two of his Senate colleagues. In total, he has collected nearly half a million dollars from the oil and gas industries. Now, the Koch brothers are trying to send him back to the Senate. They have spent over three million dollars on attack ads against Brown’s opponent, Senator Jeanne Shaheen. Tell Scott Brown to renounce the Koch brothers’ money that’s supporting his campaign and start taking action on climate change.

I have not been personally affected by this event or the events in Ferguson Missouri, and I don't want to be affected by similar situations in the future. I am a student here in South Carolina and think the conversation on police brutality, excessive force, and over-militarization has been ignored for long enough. If we respect all of our citizens in this state, we have to make sure the police force will do the same, unlike in Missouri.

Burger King is an American company worth more than $9 billion dollars. They're in talks to buy Tim Hortons Inc, Canada's largest coffee-shop chain. Burger King's sinister plan is to relocate their corporate headquarters to Ontario, Canada, thereby dodging their American taxes in a calculated move called "tax inversion." Burger King's largest shareholder, a private equity firm called 3G Capital, will win and the American people will lose. Again. Unless we stop them.

It was recently announced that Burger King may be merging with the Canadian chain Tim Hortons and relocating its headquarters to Canada, all in an attempt to dodge U.S. taxes. Canada has lower corporate tax rates than the United States, so Burger King wants to continue to operate across America, just not pay its fair share. This summer, Walgreens was thinking about doing something similar, but because hundreds of thousands spoke out, it ditched the effort. Now it’s time to tell Burger King to pay its fair share of U.S. taxes and keep an American address, or we’ll take our business elsewhere.
