• JUSTICE for #DillonTaylor, 11 August 2014 #RIP!
We are starting this petition because "We The People" of the United States of America are tired of our youth, elderly, and disabled being gunned down on our streets by a police state that is hell-bent on our destruction via control and is rooted in hatred toward a race, culture, or class of people that they deem unfit. IT IS WRONG and it must be stopped! We The People of the United States of America stand for love, justice, peace and freedom. We expect our police to do the same and when they step out of that mode or vein, which is the essence of Protect and Serve, THEN We The People of the United States of America have every right to call them and call our public servants to an account for that lack or disregard altogether. Thank you in advance for adding your name to this cause. Be well. Peace. Link: http://fox13now.com/2014/08/25/dozens-protest-death-of-dillon-taylor-shot-by-slc-police-officer/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: 03 June 2015 For all of those that say, "they got what was comin' to um!" OR "they got what they deserved, in the end." I offer this in loyal contrarian opposition. Meet Dillion D. Taylor, 20 years old, of South Salt Lake City, UT. MURDERED by Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office and Salt Lake City Police Department like a dog in the parking lot of an 7-Eleven Convenience Store in South Salt Lake, Utah on August 11, 2014 - mere days after Michael O.D. Brown, Jr. of Ferguson, Missouri was MURDERED, himself, like a dog in the streets by #DarrenWilson. Exhibit A. Video (GRAPHIC, Fare Warning, DO NOT Watch this Video With Children under 10 years of age!) of his killing on 11 August 2014, over reported 'brandishing of a weapon on the streets': https://youtu.be/01ZwvYqMRhQ Exhibit B. The 'powers that be' for this community say that said murdering was 'justifiable homicide' and it couldn't be avoided. Even though Dillon Taylor, again just 20 years old, never produced nor were police able to find a weapon, a gun, that was said to be on a person, 'fitting his description', 'of interests' in the area brandishing a weapon at passers by and motorists in the area. No, and instead, Dillon D. Taylor, his big brother, and a cousin were coming out of a 7-Eleven store after having bought Slurpees, sodas and, snacks. Can you imagine? MURDERED like a dog in the street over clearly 'mistaken identity' and having a Slurpee and a sour patch whip in your hands. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/06/03/1390285/-Shocking-new-video-shows-unarmed-Utah-man-was-listening-to-headphones-when-killed-by-police?detail=facebook_sf I would very, very, very much like for you all to READ. SIGN. AND THEN SHARE this #petition with ALL IN YOUR CIRCLES folks. Because Dillon D. Taylor, 20, had his whole life ahead of him, and in an instant, in a moment, that whole life was taken from him, and the officers that did it didn't even give him a chance to produce anything but his headphones. Justice For Dillon Taylor and others! #RIPDDT http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/justice-4-dillontaylor?source=c.em&r_by=3867884

  • TERMINATE CONTRACT WITH CENTERPLATE DUE TO CEO ANIMAL ABUSE
This case of animal abuse was caught on camera. Actions like this call for consequences. UPDATE - http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11451785/des-hague-resigns-ceo-centerplate-video-dog-abuse-surfaces The POS resigned, in no doubt due to the responses such as this petition. But questions remain: Why wasn't he fired by Centerplate? Why did organizations that use Centerplate's services like the Tampa Bay Rays not show more outrage over this animal abuse? Why has this POS not been charged for this crime? Bottom line - this is not over. Please sign this petition & others like it to show that this can't & won't be swept under the rug!

  • Hold CNN accountable for publishing false information linking vaccines to autism
CNN has recently published an "iReport" (http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1164794) claiming that a whistleblower at the CDC has proof that the CDC knew that the MMR vaccine raises autism rates by 340%, and that the CDC has covered this up. This story has been verified as false by multiple sources. By publishing this as an iReport, CNN is spreading false information that is harmful to our children, elderly, and immuno-compromised citizens, as well as to our community as a whole, because it spreads the fear-mongering that vaccines are dangerous despite hundreds of studies that prove that they are not. We are calling on citizens who are concerned about public safety and scientific integrity to boycott CNN, HLN and CNN.com until CNN removes the article, issues a retraction, and changes their policy regarding the truth in iReports.

  • Tell PepsiCo to stop fueling its massive truck fleet with the world's most climate-polluting oil!
The dirtiest, most polluting oil in the world comes from the Canadian tar sands. The hydrocarbons in tar sands have to go through extreme processing to be turned into oil. Extracting and refining a barrel of oil from tar sands produces up to three times more carbon pollution than producing a barrel of conventional oil. So what does this have to do with PepsiCo? PepsiCo is the largest food and beverage company in the U.S., and as such, possesses one of the nation’s largest private truck fleets. Tens of thousands of trucks are required to move its diverse array of household brands--including Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Quaker Oats, Tropicana, Aquafina, Naked Juice, Gatorade and more. And PepsiCo is increasingly relying on tar sands to fuel its fleet. Nineteen big companies, including Walgreens, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, have committed to not use tar sands oil, and we’d like PepsiCo to do the same. Companies that are major oil consumers should ensure that their truck fleets are rapidly moving toward the use of alternative fuels and electrification, not creating economic incentives for the extraction of tar sands! U.S. companies with large truck fleets can send a strong market signal to oil refiners by refusing to purchase the most dangerous and polluting sources of oil. While trucks make up only 7% of the vehicles on the road, they consume 35% of the nation’s fuel. If the nation’s largest truck fleets refrain from using tar sands oil, it will help reduce the demand for it. Giant, highly profitable companies like PepsiCo---that rely on kids and families to purchase their products--should chose to transport their products with trucks powered by the cleanest fuels available. PepsiCo should not be running one of America's largest private truck fleets with the world's most climate and air polluting oil. Thank you for taking action!

  • Stop Insurance Companies From Wasting Patient Care Dollars on Luxury Suites and Corporate Bonuses
Blue Shield's purchase of a multi-million dollar executive skybox in an NFL stadium is only the recent example of healthcare insurers cheating California patients and taxpayers out of millions of taxpayer dollars. As a result of its non-profit status, Blue Shield is avoiding California's corporate income tax. This generous tax-break, on top of millions of dollars from rising premium rates, contributes to massive surpluses for non-profit insurers. Blue Shield, for example, built a reserve that is $3.68 billion – or 1667% – more than what’s required by state law. On top of that, we’ve seen the healthcare industry spiral out of control for years, with immense increases in premium rates, and with no one in California with power to stop them. That is why voters put Proposition 45 on the November ballot -- to help curb out of control premium increases by requiring healthcare companies to get approval for rate hikes. And if passed, Prop 45 will give the California insurance regulators the power to block excessive rate increases, like the ones that helped funded Blue Shield’s 49er skybox. But before November, only the Attorney General has the authority to hold insurers accountable and protect patient care. That is why it is on us to urge Attorney General Harris to take action immediately.

  • Assemblymember Nazarian: Our Democracy Depends on Your Vote
California can turn the tide on unlimited secret money in elections by passing the California DISCLOSE Act, a measure that will reveal the shadowy interests that try to buy elections with deceptive ads. The California DISCLOSE Act (SB 52) would bring true transparency, requiring ballot measure ads to clearly show their actual three top funders on the ads themselves – so Californians know who’s trying to buy their vote. The bill is close to passing, but now some of the biggest interests in Sacramento are trying to kill it. Assemblymember Nazarian will be a key vote.
