HISD: #KeepSchoolsOpen!I am an alum from Jones High School (one of the schools on the chopping block). With parents and stakeholders standing up for schools across the city, HISD must use creativity and innovation to meet its challenges. I will not stand idly by as Mr. Grier closes schools in low-income neighborhoods. Public education should be just that: public, and accessible. Where will our children go to school when these schools close? Across town? And who will have to pay for that? Our community. Superintendent Terry Grier, don't close down Houston schools. We need to invest in our children, not bail out on them. Take our schools off the chopping block and keep them open!356 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Debra Walker

Demand Accountability from Governor Martinez!Stand Up For New Mexico's Children! In recent weeks, several cases of CYFD neglect have come to light including the death of Omaree Varela, a nine-year old boy that was allegedly beaten to death by his mother after reports to CYFD about abuse. We’ve seen too many cases where CYFD has failed New Mexico’s children in the Martinez administration. All we've seen from Governor Martinez is a pattern of excuses and shifting blame rather than action. It's time she showed more concern for protecting our children and less for covering for her political appointees. Our legislators must also demand accountability.408 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Lawrence Rael

Rep. Cleaver: Thank you for supporting a Government By the PeopleBig money in politics is a big problem. In fact, MoPIRG and Demos found that in 2012 the top 32 donors to Super PACs spent as much money as every single small donation to Obama and Romney combined, equaling the gifts of over 3.7 million Americans. The Government By the People Act would change the way our elections are financed through a combination of matching funds for small donations, and a “My Voice” tax credit. Instead of relying on Wall Street executives or lobbyists, participating candidates would rely on the ones the founding fathers intended them to represent: we the people. Thank Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II for cosponsoring this legislation and ask him to see it pass the finish line.68 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alec Sprague

DC Affordable Homeownership TourIn the District of Columbia ADU ownership has been an amazing tool for many, but in recent years things such as extremely long resale restriction periods and sky rocketing common fees have turned a path to the American Dream into a corridor of hardship. We want our elected officials to see first hand how their policies effects the Districts constituents both good and bad.35 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stanley Augustin

Investigate Rep. Petri on Pentagon Contractor Conflict of InterestGannett reported that Rep. Tom Petri [R-WI] successfully advocated in Congress and with Pentagon officials for the economic interests of a Pentagon contractor, Oshkosh Corp., in which Petri owns hundreds of thousands of dollars of stock. [1] After he bought the stock, Petri pressed fellow Members of Congress and Pentagon officials to help the company retain a $3 billion contract and escape Pentagon cuts. Meanwhile, the value of Petri's stock increased between $75,000 and $213,000. (Representatives are only required to report these numbers in ranges.) House Ethics rules prohibit members from using their official position for personal gain. Public Citizen has called on the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate. [2] We know that it's difficult to cut the Pentagon budget because of the huge campaign contributions Members of Congress receive from Pentagon contractors. But this case is much more extreme. “This is not just benefiting a major campaign contributor, this is going into his own pocket,” said Craig Holman, senior legislative director for Public Citizen. A mainstream media report that has not been contradicted is sufficient evidence to justify a preliminary investigation. Urge the Office of Congressional Ethics and Members of the House Ethics Committee to begin investigating Rep. Petri's Pentagon contractor conflict of interest. Perma-ban on GalestiaGalestia is a huge menace on the World of Warcraft server Wrymrest Accord. She cause drama with people and when someone puts her on ignore, she goes to another character and contacts the person again giving them more troubles. Just today she was trying to get my friend's guild Steelpaw Shadoin shut down because she gave the full guild drama and as a whole they put her on ignore. She then rolled up a panda to put in the guild and outed herself. When they kicked her from the guild, she said she was going to take "legal actions" on a fictional guild of walking bears. She goes around and trolls people and doesn't like the outcome of it.51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rozealynn

President Obama: Stop the deportations.Every day on average, 1,100 people are deported to different countries. As a result, 17 children are placed in foster state every day, according to ICE. I'm tired of the abuse. As a mother of two citizens, I have fear that one day my children will be lonely, without knowing where to go. Mr. President, you have the power. Please stop deportations and stop separating our families.63 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Flory Chaver

Don't fire Catholic teacher for getting pregnantIn the Pope Francis era, you'd think that an unmarried woman who becomes pregnant and decides to have the baby, rather than have an abortion, would have the support of her church. But a beloved Catholic teacher in Montana was just fired simply for becoming pregnant. According to diocesan officials, she's now a bad example for her students. This is exactly what Pope Francis is getting at when he warns that the church needs to stop being so punitive and sex-obsessed. Already a leading Catholic theologian is criticizing the diocese, saying that when "Catholic teaching on sexual matters is so widely dismissed, even by Catholics, this kind of necessarily selective enforcement is going to make Catholic teaching seem arbitrary and cruel." So far, the Bishop of Helena, George Leo Thomas, hasn't spoken publicly about this case. So we're launching a petition calling on him to give the teacher, Shaela Evenson, her job back -- will you sign?926 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Michael Sherrard, Faithful America
