BOYCOTT UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP & THEIR SUBSIDIARIES FOR USING HIP HOP TO DISRESPECT THE HISTORY OF...Dear Friends, We have collected over 1200 signatures thus far, please begin to talk about this issue, promote and gain more signatures for our cause. The masses are ready to see corporations be accountable for the negative messages they promote. For those of you who don't know, on February 13, 2014, an artist signed to Universal, by the name of Nikki Minaj, released an album cover desecrating the memory of Malcolm X at the approval of her labels Cash Money Records, Young Money and Universal Def Jam. Several days later Rick Ross the former police officer pretending to be a drug dealer from the "hood", released a song disrespecting the memory of Trayvon Martin, at the approval of his labels Maybac Music and Universal Def Jam. Months earlier, Russell Simmons, the co-founder of Def Jam, promoted a "sex tape" which depicted Harriet Tubman having sex with slave masters to free slaves. This type of blatant disrespect should not be tolerated by anyone. Kids of all colors black, white, and brown are falling into the trap that some Hip Hop artists and labels are promoting. Therefore, we are petitioning Universal, Def Jam, Cash Money, Young Money, Geffen, Interscope and all other subsidiaries of Universal as we are sick and tired of Hip Hop being used to promote the degradation of all people, the high incarceration of black people and the corruption of youth. We Call on Lucian Grainge to stop promoting Hip Hop Artists who are being used as puppets to destroy what we created. We object to the use of our creative works being manipulated to promote Anti-African American Pride, Violence, Rape, and/or the degradation of African American Men or Women or Men and Women of any other culture. We demand a public apology from Lucian Grainge and a percentage of funding from all Hip Hop Albums to go to community programs to create jobs and resources within the African American Community and other communities who have been influenced by this negativity or we will not support anything distributed by the Universal Music Group, subsidiaries, or affiliates including but not limited to music, movies, youtube videos, or any other product or service you extend to the public. We ask for your support by signing the petition and boycotting Universal Music Group, their subsidiaries and products. Please have everyone in your household sign and SHARE***SHARE****SHARE**** WITH ALL EMAIL CONTACTS AND ON ALL SOCIAL NETWORKS Thank you, Eryka Pac1,872 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Erica Chriswell

Stop the Comcast-Time Warner Cable Mega-Merger!Comcast, the nation's largest cable and internet company, has announced plans to purchase Time Warner Cable, the second largest, for $45 billion. But the FCC and the DOJ can still stop this monopolistic merger. The deal would cement Comcast's stranglehold over an industry in which consumers already have few options and face steep prices and unreliable customer service. This merger would mean even less competition over price and service. High speed internet access is more important than ever, whether you want to get a job, start a business, get an education or just watch a movie. But the United States already trails every other developing nation in internet speed and affordability. We need telecom companies to expand access and build out 21st-century infrastructure to bring us up to speed with the world. Instead, telecom CEOs are only concerned with maximizing profit and gobbling up the competition. President Teddy Roosevelt would roll over in his grave. This kind of monopolistic behavior must not be allowed. Tell the FCC and the DOJ to block the merger.4,129 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Joe Dinkin

Call for an Open Search for Next KHSD SuperintendentIn January 2014, Kern High School District (KHSD) Superintendent Donald E. Carter announced he is retiring, as of August 2014. The Kern High School District Board of Trustees announced they only plan to conduct an internal search, despite public pressure from community stakeholders urging an open search. While we acknowledge that there may be competent candidates currently serving KHSD, we believe our community will benefit from the widest possible search for the most forward thinking and highly skilled candidate. We need a superintendent with substantial experience and the qualities necessary to tackle the issues and challenges facing the district at this juncture.217 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Camila Chavez

Rep. Schuring: Protect voting rights - Vote No on SB 205 and SB 238The right to vote is one of the most fundamental freedoms of our republic and limiting early voting and restricting access to absentee ballots only hurts the electoral process for those who may be unable to show up on election day if they may be out of state on that day or have other personal reasons. These bills would only cause problems for these individuals and could hurt the fairness of our electoral process in future elections. Our electoral process needs to be ensured to be free and fair so the validity of future elections is never put in doubt. SB 205 would put the process of mailing out absentee ballots in the power of the Ohio Sec. of St. and could make obtaining them more difficult. SB 238 would limit early voting and eliminate "the Golden week" when voters can both register and cast ballots early. These laws would only serve to disenfranchise those who may be unable to show up on election day for whatever reason and only make the electoral process less free and fair thus threatening one of the most fundamental freedoms we have in the right to vote. These laws could only hurt the validity of future elections if passed.42 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Zachary Dunne

Stand up for local control in Wisconsin: Stop AB 750AB 750, ripped straight out of the ALEC model-legislation playbook, will decimate what remains of Wisconsin local control. The anti-living wage initiative makes it impossible for local municipalities to enact regional ordinances to fight record income inequality. Tea-party obstructionists, corporate meddlers, and Milwaukee's millionaire County Executive Chris Abele are using state preemption to undermine the will of the people. It's a direct attack on democracy, don't stand for it!801 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Matthew Finnell

Stop Voter SuppressionI started this petition to prevent politicians in the state of Ohio from enacting legislation restricting citizens' access or otherwise making it more difficult for people to vote and to ensure adequate polling places and hours so excessive time nor long lines are necessary to vote. Voter abuse in Ohio does not exist and there is absolutely no reason to make it harder for citizens in the state to exercise their right to vote. All legislative efforts should be to make it easier for citizens to participate by providing more polling places with longer hours . Signing this petition signifies my opposition to ANY and ALL actions to restrict or limit access to vote and my support for legislation expanding access to polling locations and hours.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sandra Sexton

Iowa: Take a Stand Against Corruption of Our DemocracyThe U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 ruling in 'Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission' struck down some laws restricting corporate and union spending in elections. The ruling enabled an explosion of election spending, often from secret sources. Americans of all political stripes were outraged. Iowa saw more than $13.5 million in new super PAC election spending in the 2012 Republican presidential primary alone — most of it spent on negative ads. Such influxes of election cash stand to have the greatest effect on state and local elections, where huge spending increases can dwarf local resources. With our democracy in crisis, the time to act is now. Americans across the political spectrum are concerned about the impact of 'Citizens United' on our democracy and our way of life. Together, we have an opportunity to reach out — across the aisle or across town — to undo the ruling with a constitutional amendment. It’s time for Iowa’s city and county governments to join some 500 municipalities nationwide that have called for a constitutional amendment to limit outside spending and keep local elections local. And it’s time for the General Assembly to make Iowa the 17th state to call for a constitutional amendment to overturn 'Citizens United' and related cases.937 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Glenn Simpson

MOTHERS JUSTICE MOVEMENT: Stop California Judges from forcing defenseless children to be harmed b...EVERY YEAR 58,000 CHILDREN ARE SENT FOR CUSTODY OR UNPROTECTED VISITATION WITH A DANGEROUS ABUSER. EVERY COUNTY IN EVERY STATE HARBORS DANGEROUS JUDGES. NO CHILD IS SAFE. In addition, in 2013 the Center for Disease Control concluded a lengthy investigation into adverse childhood experiences. The ACE study is one of the largest medical investigations ever conducted to assess associations between childhood maltreatment and later-life health and well-being. They found that a child’s exposure to certain trauma’s, including domestic violence or child sexual abuse, resulted in more illnesses and injuries to children in childhood through adulthood (i.e., social emotional and cognitive impairment; adoption of health-risk behaviors; disease, disability and social problems; and premature death). This study demonstrates how a child’s exposure to domestic or sexual abuse is a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. Yet every year, an estimated 58,000 children are sent for custody or unprotected visitation with a reported abuser. So how is this happening? Although research confirms that deliberately false allegations by mothers in child sexual abuse cases occurs less than 2% of the time, 85% of these cases results in custody to the alleged abuser—which means our courts are sending children to live with their rapist. Inadequately trained professionals tend to believe the myth that mothers frequently make false allegations. Therefore, in thinking they have the needed expertise, they don't listen to domestic violence or child abuse evidence, experts, or consider current research. Mothers are then forced into poverty trying to protect their children-- while, their children continue to be abused. Mr. Governor, House and Senate Representatives, CANDIDATES FOR GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA, we now have the medical research to declare domestic violence and child abuse a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. And the U.S. Department of Justice's Saunders report states that the STANDARD and REQUIRED domestic violence training received by judges, lawyers, and evaluators does not adequately prepare them to handle abuse cases. WE ARE PETITIONING FOR A STATEWIDE INVESTIGATION OF FAMILY COURT PRACTICES IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN AN EFFORT TO STOP CALIFORNIA JUDGES FROM FORCING DEFENSELESS CHILDREN TO BE HARMED BY ABUSERS. We thank you in advance for your support.574 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Melissa Barnett

Tell Sen. Corker to stop intimidating workers during their election to form a unionSen. Bob Corker has made some very serious intimidating, threats intended to sway the outcome of a union election at a Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Here’s what Sen. Corker said: "I've had conversations today and based on those am assured that should the workers vote against the UAW, Volkswagen will announce in the coming weeks that it will manufacture its new mid-size SUV here in Chattanooga." Corker hasn’t cited a source for this comment and previous statements from Volkswagen indicates this is not accurate. It seems like Corker’s statement is solely intended to dissuade workers from forming another union in Tennessee. Please sign and send the emergency message to Sen. Corker demanding he stop intimidating workers and threatening his own constituents with economic misery in order to swing the results of an election to unionize.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Paul Hogarth
