Rep. Darrell Issa of California -- the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee -- could make retail giant Target’s security breach look like child's play. He subpoenaed confidential documents from the federal contractor behind the healthcare exchange website despite repeated and explicit warnings, effectively putting millions of Americans’ privacy at risk. If leaked, these documents -- containing software code and technical information -- could make the site and its users vulnerable to hackers. The Chairman has a horrible track record of publicly leaking sensitive information, and he has already revealed portions of the documents in a public letter to Secretary Sebelius. Now that the documents are in the hands of Rep. Issa -- one of the loudest critics of the Affordable Care Act and HealthCare.gov -- there’s no telling what he might do.

I have worked full time for over 30 years and paid into the unemployment insurance fund. I was laid off from my job 8 months ago and have been diligently looking for work. I am not a slouch or a freeloader. I worked hard all my life to support myself and my children. I am 61 years old and am getting ready to lose my house and my car. I can't believe that I will be homeless at age 61. If I don't have a car, I can't even get to a job but I can't afford the car payment or the car insurance without my unemployment benefits. How can this country leave 1.6 billion people without any income at all? How is that going to help the economy when all of these people will be homeless and in the welfare lines just to be able to get food to eat? I thought this Nation was better than that. I thought we were the land of the free but I am finding out it is all about the rich and corporate America and what they will lose to help their fellow Americans. I am so disilusioned. We’re concerned and you should be too. Last fall, when our federal government screeched to a grinding halt we learned that federal environmental inspections and pollution monitoring did too. That was distressing enough. Now, we may have to contend with less enforcement of limits on dangerous pollution by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) own design. Chronic polluters have reason to rejoice while they reign in profits at our expense if EPA reduces their role as cop on the pollution beat. TAKE ACTION to demand EPA keep polluters in check. Tell Administrator Gina McCarthy that you support a fully-staffed EPA enforcement plan. 2013 highlighted a host of environmental challenges from explosions at refineries and fertilizer plants to multiple Exxon oil spills. Last year also marked the fifth Anniversary of the Kingston, TN coal ash spill that devastated still-recovering communities in Tennessee and Alabama. With these challenges in mind, EPA has just as many reasons today to hold industrial polluters to tough oversight as ever before. Reducing enforcement is equivalent to leaving communities overburdened by toxic air and water pollution out in the cold to fend for themselves. Cutting enforcement resources will disproportionately injure communities of color and low-income communities who are more likely to live near polluting industrial facilities. That’s why we have a BIG problem if EPA is deciding to reduce resources for their enforcement team while the stakes remain high. Big polluters already release toxic pollution into our air and water with reckless abandon. One can only imagine how much more these Big Polluters would be emboldened by EPA willingly taking their eyes off the ball. How are fewer inspections a good thing? Who is better protected by less oversight? Certainly not you and your neighbors. Ask Administrator McCarthy to review this Agency report to make sure that the 2014 plan includes more—not less—resources for holding big polluters accountable.

With this sudden deregulation companies will be able to deny service to sites linked to their competitors, keeping consumers from looking at different services and deciding which company is best suited to their needs. This will also give service providers free reign to decide on pricing as well as increasing rates without having to conform to the government's standard, making millions pay more for the internet they have always had. If these deregulation efforts continue then companies will try to force us back into an old outdated media rather than innovate their own industry to adapt, something that has already held us back as a nation for the longest time.

I believe that not supporting the gay, lesbian, trans-gender population in their struggle for equality would be wrong. Russia's governmental policy on this issue is WRONG !

I am a medical marijuana patient on disability. I can rarely afford medicine because of the high costs. The medical marijuana law currently allows dispensaries to choose who gets free or reduced cost medicine. I would like to amend that guideline to make it state free medicine for financial hardship cases. These are patients at poverty level whom would go without medicine, such as people on disability and low income senior citizens. The dispensaries are non-profit and are supposed to be set up to help patients. The MA. DPH would decide which patients are financial hardship cases, and only those individuals would be eligible for free medicine.

The FDA does not require the labeling of GMO (genetically modified) food products, leaving consumers in the dark about the ingredients in their food. Without knowing, consumers across the country regularly consume food that contains GMOs. Most of the food available on store shelves today contains GMOs—and they’re not without risk. For one thing, studies suggest that genetically modified crops require a dramatic increase in the use of pesticides and herbicides, which have been linked to serious health impacts. In addition, there may be other serious dangers, but we just don’t know - there is very little independent research done on the health implications of GMO consumption because the seeds are patented and the companies that own them prohibit their cultivation for research purposes. It’s time that we label all foods that contain GMOs so that consumers can make informed choices. However, some big food manufacturers, along with chemical companies like Monsanto, are spending millions of dollars to oppose labeling. Consumers overwhelmingly want to know what they’re eating, and grocery stores are beginning to heed the call – just last year, Whole Foods committed to labeling. Now, we’re calling on Safeway to side with its customers and label its brands too.

I am starting this petition, because I believe in America...and I believe Americans should not go without.

Only through identifying committed supporters of Gerrymandering elimination and channeling our joint efforts, can we win this battle for voter rights and democracy as it will be fought in Ohio and eventually the rest of our Nation.
