Colorado Springs Gazette: Don't Publish Climate DenialNewspapers need to stop publishing letters that deny climate change. Every word that is put into the public eye that discounts scientific data that shows how man has hurt the environment teaches more people that what they are doing does not degrade the planet. The science is clear: people have created harm and people are the only ones who can do anything to reverse it.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Deborah Greymoon

Give Hawai'i A Minimum Wage We Can Live On!Tell the Hawaii Legislature and the Governor that we need a minimum wage of $15.00 per hour. As one of the most expensive states to live in, we need a minimum wage in Hawai’i that goes beyond being “minimal” to being a living wage that people here can afford rent, to eat healthy food, and get adequate health care. It’s time to stop subsidizing the gross profits of Big Businesses like Walmart and McDonald’s and other companies that exploit workers with low pay. We are tired of our taxes subsidizing the food and healthcare costs of such corporation’s “working poor” employees when these companies can afford to pay their workers a living wage. Give working people the dignity of paying their own way in society and make greedy companies dignify their workers with a minimum wage of $15.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Andres Autrique

Raleigh, NC; Support Dr. Jennifer Federico, WCAC Animal Services DirectorIndependent animal rescues are calling for the resignation of Dr. Jennifer Federico. A week ago, Dr. Federico authorized the euthanization of 60 cats confiscated in a hoarding raid. Both sides agree that the 60 cats were ill and were suffering. The independent rescuers wanted the cats treated, but if that were to happen, then 60 cats in the shelter would have died. There is not unlimited space and resources for the animals in our community. We are all in agreement that irresponsible pet ownership and lack of regulation on spaying and neutering are to blame. Our hope is that we can all join forces to work against that, instead of working against the people who are cleaning up the aftermath of this animal-overpopulation epidemic. Instead of criticizing the shelter and its staff, we can save animals by volunteering, fostering, and donating to the county shelter. Please join us in standing with Dr. Jennifer Federico.740 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Shannon Johnstone

Random Drug Test Elected OfficialsFor me, FL Rep Trey Radel is the last straw. I'm a citizen of the United States and I'm tired of seeing elected officials like Radel sit around making laws while under the influence. I propose we demand random drug and breathalyzer (split) testing on each and every elected official, from Animal Control to POTUS. Random drug test them all. It'll create jobs, too! Please sign and forward. Thank you.57 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lisa Stoutmoose

Speaker Boehner Support Immigration Reform THIS YEARNow is the time for our members of congress to stop dragging their feet and support a comprehensive immigration reform that will help millions of families to come out of the shadows and fully participate in our communities. In the past month several Republicans have done what many thought impossible. As Republicans, they decided to put families over politics and signed on to the comprehensive immigration reform bill H.R. 15. This is an opportunity for Speaker Boehner to do the same. We need him to also be a leader and put families over politics. Though there is enough support in Congress to pass immigration reform, Speaker Boehner recently stated that it will not be going up for a vote until 2014. This stance may prove costly for him and his party. According to several studies, 71 Percent of Americans Favor Immigration Reform. With the focus of the political world now shifted toward the 2014 elections, new polls show that a majority of voters across the country – including in 12 key battleground states – will hold elected officials accountable at the ballot box if they do not support immigration reform. More than half of Americans – 54 percent – said they were less likely to support an elected official who opposed reform, compared with just 17 percent who were more likely to support a reform opponent. Now is the time to do the right thing and put families over politics.100 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Action NC

Ban fracking in UtahAround 2 million people, about 75% of Utah's population live along The Wasatch Fault. Fracking for natural gas has been shown to drastically increase the potential of an earthquake. The 240-mile-long Fault is made up of several segments, each of which can independently produce earthquakes as powerful as magnitude 7.5.During the past 6,000 years, a strong earthquake (magnitude greater than 6.5) has occurred about once every 350 years somewhere along the Wasatch Fault. The economical loss alone outweighs any profit possible made from natural gas. Not to mention the loss of lives, homes, and business. We cannot afford to tempt an earthquake here in Utah. Learn about what happened in Ohio when they allowed fracking in a state with fault lines here: http://www.nbcnews.com/science/fracking-practices-blame-ohio-earthquakes-8C11073601 Do a little research, it isn't hard to find evidence that fracking for natural gas can help cause earthquakes, and poison water. Fracking would undoubtedly disturb Wild Utah's outdoors and economy. We have a huge economy here based on tourism, outdoor adventure, and real estate. Fracking will destroy many of the scenic areas tourists come to see, ruin water for existing and future development. Extracting natural gas from Utah's environment will slow down or halt all three of these industries. Besides, natural gas won't be a cheaper energy source for long. USA already exports it, and many powers that be, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership want to increase natural gas export into foreign economies which will pay a lot more for natural gas, driving our prices at home up and damaging the environment further. Many cities, states, and even countries are banning fracking. The list is so long, but here is a great url for evidence:http://keeptapwatersafe.org/global-bans-on-fracking/ There is no sound reason to frack in Utah. After a few low paid temporary jobs and economical stimulation, fracking in Utah will make a few non Utahans rich, while destroying generations of clean water, scenery, and worst of all destruction like we have never seen yet in modern Utah. Let's not encourage the earth to rumble, we have many other alternatives for energy than to frack Utah.117 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Geoff Larson

Protection for victims of domestic violence automatically. On October 25th 2013 my best friend, 33-year-old Shawntah Eierdam was murdered in Youngtown AZ by 39-year-old Jose Sotelo (who later turned the gun on himself). My friend was killed because Jose Sotelo, a former boyfriend of Shawntah's, because his obsession and rage when he found out Shawntah was hanging out with another man at her bosses house. There was a history of domestic violence and harassment by Jose. If there was an order of protection, Shawntah would probably still be alive today. I am proposing, the "Shawntah's Law", were an order of protection to be automatically issued if anyone is charged with assault or domestic voice (or similar) offense. And served by the arresting officer. This way the victim has automatic protection from the alleged attacker.117 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Stephanie Myers
