• Increase Railroad Infrastructure
I travel Routes 287 and 80 to get to work each day. I would love to be able to take a train to get to work. As of now, I would have to travel all the way to NYC and change trains or switch to buses several times, tripling my commute. I think others who may travel different highways would like this option, but I don't hear anyone talking about it, so I'm starting my own petition.

  • "Equal Rights & "Let Them Eat Cake Mentality"
We U.S. Citizens are "expected" to pay our own way with OBAMA CARE and/or other health and retirement benefits. "I" am tired of paying for extravagant trips, parties, entertainment, absurd benefits, etc. In a similar vein, I think is criminally wrong to offer $$$ to other countries when our own citizenry is in need. I COULD GO ON & ON & ON!!! :(

  • Warner Bros. Needs To Be Transparent About Where Its Chocolate Comes From
Harry Potter chocolate receives an "F" in human rights, according to an independent report from Free2Work (http://thehpalliance.org/i/campaigns/nihn/behr-scorecard.pdf). Andrew Slack of the Harry Potter Alliance contacted Warner Bros., and received a statement that another report negated the "F" grade, but did not allow Harry Potter fans to see the report or understand why.

  • Stop Employers From Using Credit Checks Against Applicants
Employers are using credit checks to assess the trustworthiness of applicants. The credit score of an applicant is not a gauge for their character/aptitude.

  • Stop Employers From Using Credit Checks Against Applicants
In today's economy it's harder than ever to get a job. There are tons of well qualified people (like myself) that are looking for gainful employment or to start their careers, but are being held back by credit checks. I have personally been turned down for a job because of my low credit score. I have been contingently hired, but then turned down for a job with the TSA at Tweed Airport in CT as a luggage screener because my credit score was low. I, like everyone else had bills that my minimum wage job did not cover. I went from making $18.00/hr to $9.00/hr after having my son and have had a hard time catching up to where I was. I am not a bad person, I don't steal, swindle, pilfer. I am honest, hardworking and eager to work! All I need is the opportunity. With employers using credit checks for the base to hire/not hire applicants is wrong and their decisions are leaving a lot of eligible employees out of the mix. Criminal checks should be considered, not credit checks.

  • Pass the New York Women’s Equality Agenda
In January 2013, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his 10-point Women’s Equality Agenda, which addresses a wide array of barriers facing women. If passed, this desperately needed legislation will: 1. Ensure equal pay for equal work. 2. Stop sexual harassment in all workplaces. 3. Allow for the recovery of attorneys’ fees in employment and credit and lending cases. 4. Strengthen human trafficking laws. 5. End family status discrimination. 6. Prevent landlords from denying housing based on the source of funds. 7. Stop housing discrimination for victims of domestic violence. 8. End pregnancy discrimination once and for all. 9. Protect domestic violence victims seeking orders of protection. 10. Protect reproductive health care decisions. New York State has a very proud history when it comes to women’s rights. But even today, women are paid on average $11,000 less per year than men for the same job. Women with children are less likely to be recommended for hire and promoted. And women are twice as likely to become a single parent living in poverty or to live out old age in poverty. Beyond that, New York is a major destination for sex and labor trafficking victims, and penalties for trafficking do not match the severity of the crime. The Women’s Equality Agenda will help to finally end these injustices and close the wage gap. It will give women access to better jobs and opportunities for advancement, safety at home and at work, and the right to make private, personal health care decisions. There are only a few weeks left in the legislative session. The women of New York have waited long enough. Pass the Women’s Equality Agenda today.
