  • Tell Texas hospitals: Stop denying lifesaving reproductive health care!
Two Texas women, Kelsie Norris-De La Cruz and Kyleigh Thurman, were denied abortion care for their life-threatening ectopic pregnancies—and now they’re demanding the Biden administration investigate the hospitals for violating federal law. An ectopic pregnancy is the leading cause of maternal mortality in the first trimester. Texans deserve assurance that they’ll receive lifesaving care when they need it most. Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, Texas has enforced a near-total ban on abortion, with very limited exceptions. And Texas doctors who perform abortions risk life in prison, fines of up to $100,000, and revocation of their medical licenses. But hospitals are ultimately required to provide stabilizing care, including abortions, to patients with emergency medical conditions. Texas law clearly allows for abortions to treat dangerous ectopic pregnancies, and federal law requires it. And yet, both of these women were denied emergency care. Sign the petition to demand these Texas hospitals be held accountable for denying their patients lifesaving abortion care.

  • Ask about abortion in the next presidential debate!
It's been two years since the Supreme Court shamefully overturned Roe v. Wade, stripping millions of Americans of their right to decide if, and when, to start a family. Many states have moved to enforce extremely restrictive laws on abortion—some as early as six weeks. In 14 states, abortion is banned in almost all circumstances.  As politicians nationwide continue to attack our bodily autonomy, voters need to know where our presidential candidates stand on reproductive rights. Vice President Harris deserves a chance to make her stance on abortion access crystal clear. Meanwhile, voters should hear exactly what President Trump means when he says that abortion should be “left up to the states” or “there has to be some form of punishment” for people seeking abortion care. Just this month, new reports surfaced of women with dangerous pregnancy complications who were forced to give birth due to state abortion bans, leading to serious and permanent health consequences. We need to hear from our candidates: What would you say to these women, their families, and the doctors and physicians sounding the alarm about the dangerous impacts of state abortion bans? And what would you say to Americans concerned that these bans have gone too far? As we head into the final stretch of this election season, abortion must be part of the public conversation so voters can support candidates who unequivocally fight for reproductive rights. Debate moderators must get our candidates on the record: What role does the federal government play in making sure that every American, regardless of where they live, can access a full range of essential reproductive health care, including abortion? Add your name to our petition now and urge moderators at ABC News to ask about abortion in the next presidential debate.

If you believe that his selfless service should be honored by DPS with a building in his name, we ask that you sign this petition. There is an old saying that we should “give people their flowers while they are alive.”  This saying is so applicable here.  Help us give Mayor Bell his flowers while he is alive.

  • Star Wars Ep Emergency — Save Star Wars: The Acolyte
Lucasfilm used to be a company that went against the grain of your typical Hollywood socialites who just wanted more of the same. Lucasfilm used to follow through with the stories that they wanted to tell in a very unapologetic way, even if the people around the me were telling them “it’s not going to work”. Lucasfilm always found a way to make it work and reach an audience. They used to be the rebels of the film industry. They didn’t submit to traditionalism. George Lucas allowed anyone who worked on the galaxy far far away to essentially have free reign to sprout their creative flow and put their own stamp on Star Wars, because he understood that a story needs nurturing. Stories need to be brave and challenging even if others disagree. They need to bring something people never thought they needed until watching that specific project within Star Wars. And that was The Acolyte. Most importantly: the greatest thing about the Acolyte was its separation from the Skywalker royal family and focusing on completely different characters, environments, and conflicts that expanded our understanding of the universe we know and love. The Acolyte had a refreshing nature about it where we saw Lucasfilm do something original and bring that spark of boldness that they’ve always been known for.  Star Wars wouldn’t be here today if George Lucas just accepted the dominant level of “we don’t believe in your vision” that a New Hope first received. Star Wars wouldn’t be Star Wars without George Lucas’ experimenting and going against what typical Hollywood was doing. We often forget this, but Star Wars wasn’t a guaranteed success at first. It had to work and be unapologetically itself to get to the be the royal family of space opera fantasy.  The most difficult thing to confront now, is the fact that Lucasfilm decided to relent to the toxic city of the fanbase. A company that since 1997, preached individuality when it came to storytelling backed out of a story they wanted to tell because of the loud, toxic, hateful group of fans. That is not the George Lucas way. As Lucasfilm supporters, we feel betrayed and ignored. We feel for the cast and crew that were given the hope of a continuation of The Acolyte and did a phenomenal job on the first season. We feel for the fact that Lucasfilm will now be frightened in wanting to tell different stories with different characters, time periods, and storylines. We feel that Lucasfilm now will decide to back out of a story instead of allowing it to blossom. We ESPECIALLY fear now that Lucasfilm will start de-canonizing actual SW media in order to make the trolls happy.  What we see is Lucasfilm now being a shell of its former self and not fighting for its own storytelling. It used to be Lucasfilm vs Corporate, but now it’s “what will sell better and be more familiar to people?”. You are becoming the very thing you swore to destroy. The film industry is scaring more and more creators from wanting to branch out and do new things and adaptability must be something we are willing to embrace. If we continue doing the same thing, eventually it will get to a point where the charm is gone and support will rarely be a commodity. Lucasfilm, you must honor George Lucas’ philosophy and see this story through. For the cast and crew that worked their butts off, for the supporters of this series that craved something different, and to tell your creatives that their visions will be protected by you. That their backs will always be covered by you. This decision to cancel The Acolyte only confirms to people that you won’t protect them, and that you don’t desire to expand. It confirms to the people who had to deal with the cyberbullying over loving this series that their support meant nothing. If this isn’t the philosophy that you desire to adopt or preach, do the right thing and resurrect The Acolyte for a second season. Follow through with your vision and live up to the respectable standards that you have been upholding since 1997’s A New Hope. Please, and thank you.

  • Activity time
On behalf of all of Yes Prep North Central’s upperclassmen, activity time is demanded because it helps us deal with the stress that comes with school and helps us get along with our classmates more. It gives us a chance to socialize with them. Having activity time will help us be more connected, more encouraged to do well in school, help us with our mental health, and overall help us have a better school year. Also, not having activity time is putting more stress on teachers because they have to present PowerPoints to students, when other years, during the time of blazer block, we would be enjoying our time in activity time. Activity time has been a part of Yes Prep North Central since we were in 6th grade and it’s always worked well. We promise that it will continue to be that way. Overall, we, as Yes Prep North Central’s upperclassmen, believe that activity time should be granted to us.

  • Rename the Legends of Hutto Community Park to Honor Tony Wertz: A Community's Tribute
Why Now: I believe in giving someone their flowers while they are here to see them because tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Tony’s work and passion deserve to be recognized in a way that ensures his legacy is permanently etched into the fabric of our community. Despite previous efforts to bring this proposal to the Legends of Hutto Homeowners Association Board of Directors, I have not received a response. But as members of this community, we have the power to make this happen. We can ensure that Tony’s contributions are honored in a lasting and meaningful way by renaming the park located off Inman Drive to "Tony Wertz Community Park." What We Need: Your signature on this petition is crucial. Every signature counts and will help us build a strong case to present to the HOA Board and local officials. This is our chance to take action as a united community, to show that we value the incredible contributions of our neighbors, and to ensure that Tony’s work is remembered and celebrated for generations to come. How You Can Help: • Sign the Petition: Add your name to support this important cause. • Share the Petition: Spread the word to your friends, family, and neighbors within the community. The more signatures we gather, the stronger our message will be. • Get Involved: If you have ideas or additional support that could help us in this endeavor, please reach out. This is a community effort, and every voice matters. Let’s come together to make this a reality. Tony has given so much to our community, and now it’s our turn to give back.
