  • Olde Beaufort Farmers' Market
Beaufort is a great community that could be enhanced by the presence of a weekly farmers' market that would offer locals and tourists a chance to buy local food products and art and support the local economy.

  • Ruairi Quinn: Provide certainty for the class of 2015
In the midst of the biggest reforms ever seen in Ireland's secondary education system are the Leaving Certs of 2015, current TYs and 3rd years. This petition calls on Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn, TD to provide clarity to us on what changes in the points system, the CAO, 3rd level admissions and other examinations like the HPAT will be implemented over the next two years. We are left with speculative reports and deserve certainty as we enter our last two years in secondary education. Please sign this petition and share it with your friends so that the Minister and his department are upfront with what reforms will be introduced.

  • Leave the arcades open. Shut down the criminals.
Leave the harmless arcades out of the bill to ban the internet cafes run by "Allied Veterans." Doesn't seem fair to punish everyone for the acts of Allied Veterans. They should be shut down and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

  • UW-Madison Chancellor Ward Said What?
Students at UW-Madison union have been calling on UW-Madison administration to cut the university’s contracts with the company. When students asked UW-Madison Chancellor David Ward if he'd stand up for workers' rights and for my co-workers and I, he told them that he would not support “these workers, not today.” Ward’s comments are terrible and they also ignore recommendations from the the UW-Madison Labor Licensing Policy Committee and a recent report from the Workers’ Rights Consortium—an organization UW-Madison is affiliated with—that found Palermo’s Pizza violated labor law, retaliated against us for trying to form a union and illegally fired workers. Tell UW-Madison Chancellor David Ward you won’t tolerate his comments.

  • Fire Congress!
Everyone has been affected by the stalemate and inability of our Congress to work for the American people. They are so much more concerned for their positions with lobbies in the aftermath of their stints in Congress that they could care less for the benefit of us. So what if they aren't reelected? The next move if they hold their ground is to get the big bucks as a lobbyist. So what is their incentive? If I didn't work for my boss I would be fired....why can't we fire Congress when they won't do their jobs for us? Honestly, they should sacrifice their salaries themselves to contribute to managing the deficit if they want to maintain their DO NOTHING attitudes.

  • Phase out the use of bunker fuel at our ports
Bunker fuel is an extremely dirty fuel used by large ships such as oil tankers and container ships - one container ship emits as much pollution as 50 million cars. Bunker-fuel-using ships cause the hazy atmosphere and air pollution around our nation's ports and health problems in those communities. But we don't have to use this type of fuel: There is a current surplus of ships, so a phase-out of bunker fuel would encourage the newest ships to visit America's ports and lead to other environmental and safety advantages. Economically, this phase-out would raise the marginal cost of shipping goods into our ports, which would have the very beneficial effect of favoring locally manufactured goods over cheap imported goods.
