• Ask Coca-Cola to Stop Sponsoring Cruel Rodeos
The Swire Coca-Cola bottling company sponsors the Reno, Pendleton Round-Up, and Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeos. SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) has documented extreme animal cruelty at these rodeos. Some of these abuses include horse shocking, horse tripping, and calf jerk-downs leading to serious injuries and death, as at the 2009 Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo, where a horse called Strawberry Fudge was killed. To see some of the footage click here: Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo (http://bit.ly/YoTbE5), Reno Rodeo (http://bit.ly/XHsg7G) Pendleton Rodeo (http://bit.ly/11Esm6s)) SHARK has reached out to the Swire Coca-Cola divisions that are responsible for the sponsorships of each rodeo, asking them to withdraw in light of the animal cruelty. After watching our videos, Swire still refuse to stop sponsoring rodeos. Please sign this petition asking Swire Coca-Cola to stop sponsoring animal abusing rodeos. The Coca-Cola animal welfare policy clearly states; “The Coca-Cola Company does not endorse or condone any practice of cruelty to animals, and the Company does not sponsor or promote events where there is a risk of physical harm to animals. Additionally, The Coca-Cola Company does not sponsor rodeos or bullfighting events.” Both Coca-Cola and Swire Coca-Cola have chosen to ignore their own policy. • Stop the Use of "Molly" on the radio
Molly is a relatively new street drug which has become extremely popular amongst teenagers. The appeal of Molly comes greatly from the false idea that this drug is safe, and the promotion of Molly by music artists. As of now, the word "molly" is not censored on the radio. Although "molly" could be a name of a person, the usage of this word is promoting this highly dangerous and now popular drug. Since media influence is extremely powerful, sign this petition and take the first step to reduce Molly use.

  • Integration Overhaul Needed for Families of US Citizens, too!
I am a US citizen born and bred, and my foreign husband of four years has been denied his marriage visa to come live with me in the US because of a loophole in US immigration laws. He lives in Germany and has one minor infraction on his police record, for which he only had to pay a fine. Because German law does not break down the severity of different offenses like US law does, this infraction has a maximum penalty of 5 years in jail. In Washington D.C., the same offense has a 6 month maximum sentence. US immigration law states that any infraction can not have a maximum sentence of more that 1 year in jail in the country where it took place! That means that anyone with a small infraction in countries with laws like Germany CAN NOT get a US visa, while in other countries it is not an issue. This is clearly unfair. Please petition Congress to completely review US immigration laws and change these inequities that break up families.

  • Continue providing transportation to the families served in Albany (Dougherty County), GA
Due to the recent implementation of a sequester by Congress. HeadStart and other Government funded programs are forced to make budget cuts. One of the options is to eliminate transportation service for Dougherty County and reduce the service in three other counties. If this option is voted on, many children and families will suffer as a result. Thus, the option to cut enrollment slots by 60 across the board will no longer need to be considered. If transportation in Dougherty County is eliminated, there will be a drop in enrollment of 70 plus children. Transportation is vital to the continued success of the Dougherty County HeadStart program.

  • An educated perspective on mental illness
With such a strong stigma attached to it mental illness has become a scapegoat for all that is wrong with the current debate on gun violence. Although the statistics show that the mentally ill are more than likely the victims of violence, those afflicted with this misunderstood condition are often blamed for those terrible incidents that have become more and more frequent in the American society. My feeling and belief is that the greater public needs to have a in depth discussion about this illness. To meet and hear from those affected by this little understood condition. It is my intention to create a forum where mentally ill patients can find support and am empathetic ear from people like them where they can not only express their perspective personal experiences so that others like them and the general public also will have a better understanding of what people afflicted with mental illness can provide the greater community. It is well known that many bi-polar people are some of the brightest artists, poets, writers, actors, musicians, playwrights and even very successful CEO's. There can be an evolution of understanding and I hope to be the vehicle to manifest this with the forum I propose. Very sincerely Paul LaBonte

  • TELL CONGRESS TO PUT VA UNDER OATH
Right now the US House of Representatives Committee on Veteran Affairs has an agreement with the VA that allows VA officials to testify before that Congressional Committee without being sworn in. With no oath, there is absolutely NO PENALTY for VA officials who lie to Congress. This hurts veterans and harms taxpayers, and it helps NO ONE except those who want a free pass to lie to Congress about veterans' issues. No honest official should mind being put under oath when testifying. And, those that mind are the reason for doing it.

  • Reform the Federal Wildlife-Killing Program
The problem with Wildlife Services is simple: The federal program relies too heavily on killing to resolve conflicts with wildlife. All too often, these methods are brutal, expensive and ineffective, with 100,000 animals killed each year. Tens of thousands of animals have been killed by mistake over the past decade -- including family pets and federally protected wildlife. The solution for Wildlife Services is simple as well: Stop the kill-first mentality when it comes to wildlife -- and focus on using proven non-lethal deterrents to effectively resolve conflicts. Please speak out now and urge Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to reform Wildlife Services from the federal government's top wildlife killers to a program that can truly resolve wildlife conflicts.

  • Fewer than 100 Wild Red Wolves Remain in the World
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission recently approved a temporary state rule that allows spotlight hunting of coyotes at night throughout the state, including in the area inhabited by the only wild population of red wolves, one of the world’s most endangered animals. Red wolves and coyotes look a lot alike, even in daylight. In nighttime conditions, it is nearly impossible to tell them apart. At least two wolves have already been illegally shot. Tell the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission: Don’t let anymore wolves die! Stop all coyote hunting -- daytime or nighttime -- within the red wolf recovery area!
