• Plastic Bag Ban
Plastic bags are non biodegradable. They can be harmful to animals, wildlife and the environment. Americans throw away almost 100 billion plastic bags every year, and only 1 percent to 3 percent are ever recycled. These disposable, toxic bags are an environmental hazard and a consumer of oil.

  • Massachusetts's Gov. Patrick: Demand Immediate shutdown/NRC investigation Of Pilgrim Nuclear Plan...
Entergy-Pilgrim nuclear power plant two years ago bought four brand new and really expensive "Safety Relief Valves". Two of these valves have already forced shutdowns, another one was leaking and restricted power at 80% when Nor'easter Nemo tripped the plant. I uncovered the forth valve leak and another power restriction of 94% though a troubled plant insider. We are all threatened with an ineffective Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This is a NRC Cover-Up

  • Congress social security act
Since congress does not believe that social security is actually going to be around they made a law that they get paid their full wage until they die after retirement! Why should they get anything more than what the people they represent after retirement? They shouldn't! If its good enough for the rest ulof us it's good enough for them!

  • Stop the Rush to Fracking in Illinois
The staff at the IL Dept. of Natural Resources have written their administrative rules for enforcing the scary Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act passed by the Illinois General Assembly last May. But the IDNR rules stray from the original law in many places, all in the same direction -- of favoring the oil and gas companies. The rules have reduced the fines for violating regulations from what they were in the law to just nominal amounts, some less than a speeding ticket in IL. Now companies can violate the rules and only have to pay a $50 fine for perjury, for example, whereas in the law, perjury is a class IV felony. With these massive reductions in sanctions for violations of the law, the "regulatory law" has been eviscerated. During the public "comment period" on these rules the people of IL submitted over 32,000 written comments, the vast majority being very critical of the rules. We need to stop the rush to fracking in Illinois. We need time to assess what the real costs will be to our health and our environment from this highly industrialized fracking process. Call Gov. Pat Quinn (217) 782-0244 and Attorney General Lisa Madigan (217 782-1090 to urge them to Stop the Rush to Fracking.

Fracking must NOT be allowed to move forward in Nevada due to the delicate underground ecosystem of the desert where all the waterways are essentially connected.

  • Medicare
With scientific medical progress, Medicare and other insurance plans could cover the cost of new medical advances that would cure the problem. My knees were replaced three years ago and work better now than the ever did when I was younger. After completing physical therapy, no further treatment was necessary.

  • Medicaid Expansion
I am over 65. I do not need Medicaid, thank the US government. But there are so many others who need this. Let's help them get it, no matter what the Florida legislature says. If we do not take that Medicaid money, other states will get ours just like the high speed rail! Don't be stupid.

  • Reopen the Cam. de las Crucitas Entrance at Gonzales Community School
My daughter attends Gonzales Community School, and there is only one entrance/exit for parents to drop off and pick up their children. This causes chaos and congestion on the main street, the parent and faculty parking lots, the drop-off/pick-up lane, and the lane that just wants to get out of there. There is another entrance/exit, but it is closed and the gates have been locked. We need to get the attention of our board members to reopen these gates.

  • Use the power of state government to create an economic recovery.
Create a facts-based, bi-partisan American policy on economic reforms. As Democrats and Republicans, we should know by now that cutting jobs, in either governmental or private sectors, does not create an economic recovery. However, spending money is not enough to bring about sustained recovery either. We are long overdue for a bi-partisan effort to fix the USA economy, and by implication, the economies of the world as well.
