Minnesota allows 70% garnishment of disabled veteran'After veteran is rendered disabled from an accident caused by the negligence of co-worker. The State of Minnesota allows for the garnishment of his disabilty check. I don't see any reason that they should seek such a large amount. Ther should be a limit on what they can take. Gov. Kasich: SAVE EDUCATION in OHIOI am a former Cleveland Public School alumni, and a undergraduate of Cleveland State University, in the State of Ohio which is about to receive a major impact in education. *Teachers and Schools: Ohio will lose approximately $25.1 million in funding for primary and secondary education, putting around 350 teacher and aide jobs at risk. In addition about 34,000 fewer students would be served and approximately 100 fewer schools would receive funding. * Education for Children with Disabilities: In addition, Ohio will lose approximately $22 million in funds for about 270 teachers, aides, and staff who help children with disabilities. *Work-Study Jobs: Around 3,320 fewer low income students in Ohio would receive aid to help them finance the costs of college and around 1,450 fewer students will get work-study jobs that help them pay for college. *Head Start: Head Start and Early Head Start services would be eliminated for approximately 2,500 children in Ohio, reducing access to critical early education. Our children's education and 21st Century Job Creation should be our top priority, and these cuts should be stopped.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Pat Brown

For Takoma Park Residents: Lower the Voting Age in Takoma Park to 16As a teenager, it's hard to connect to national politics when all that seems to come out of Washington D.C. is bad news. At the local level, it's an entirely different story. Teens turn to local government for a high quality of education, insurance of safety, job opportunities, and much more. At age 16, a teenager is old enough to work to support his/her own family and afford his/her own future. At age 16, one gains driving privileges. At age 16, one can be tried for certain crimes and pay certain taxes. At age 16, one should be allowed to vote in local elections. It's time to take a step towards youth enfranchisement and allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote in Takoma Park, Maryland in local elections. Please contact Ben Feshbach ([email protected]) or Tim Male, the sponsor of this initiative on the Takoma Park City Council ([email protected]) for more information. Notice: please only sign this petition if you are a Takoma Park resident.95 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ben Feshbach

Daylight Savings All YearI would like it put to a vote to all citizens of Montana to either keep Daylight Savings all year long, or have Standard Time all year long. On March 8, 2013, Dr. Holly Phillips on CBS This Morning sited extensive studies (over 20 years) that show there is 5% increase of risk of heart attack each spring and then a 5% decrease in risk of heart attack each fall.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Virjeana Brown

President Obama: Don't Appoint VillaraigosaAfter Mayor Villaraigosa joined "Fix the Debt," I started a petition asking him to leave the group because of their efforts to gut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. I received over 22,000 signatures (14,000 on SignOn and the rest through the PCCC). Now the media is discussing Mayor Villaraigosa for a possible appointment in the Obama administration. Mayor Villaraigosa ignored us. He didn't care what we had to say. He was willing to ignore his constituents to pander to corporate interestes. His disregard for engaged citizens and all working and middle class families make him an unacceptable choice for a position in President Obama's cabinet. Villaraigosa has ignored the people who helped to get him elected and has presided over budget cuts and service reductions that disproportionately effect the working poor: The Metropolitan Transportation Authority cut nearly 1 million hours of service (citing efficiency) at the expense of working class residents who overwhelming rely on public transportation. African American transit activists fault Villaraigosa for not fighting for a Leimert Park stop, the heart of black culture in Los Angeles, on the Crenshaw Rail line. These are just a few examples of how Villaraigosa has balanced the budget on the backs of hard working Angelenos, and there are many more. We are asking President Obama to not appoint Villaraigosa to a position in his administration.2,601 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Angela Garcia Combs

Prevent testing of anthrax vaccine in US childrenDHHS has had two federal advisory committees make recommendations on testing anthrax vaccine and other medical countermeasures in children, since 2011. The immediate goal is to expand the vaccine license to include children, and to increase the civilian vaccine stockpile. The vaccine might be used routinely in children, in future. However, antibiotics are the effective treatment of choice in an anthrax attack. Antiserum and monoclonal antibodies could be used in the event of antibiotic resistance. Vaccine, of unknown effectiveness, would only start to be useful 40 days after immunizations were begun. Why the government has spent billions on a large anthrax vaccine stockpile makes no sense. The US anthrax letters were determined (by the FBI) to come from the supply of a US army scientist. The US has never been attacked by a foreign enemy with anthrax. There is no credible evidence of an anthrax threat to US children. For these reasons, plus the existence of federal statutes and case law that prohibit testing dangerous products in children, who cannot give informed consent, this pediatric trial should not even have been considered. But DHHS has ignored these prohibitions and wishes to proceed with a pediatric trial regardless. Please read the Alliance for Human Research Protection (AHRP)'s report to the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, which is advising Secretary Sibelius on this anthrax vaccine experiment, at http://www.ahrp.org/cms/images/stories/articles/children_anthraxvaccine_moral_cliff_final_2-28.pdf Please sign our petition and help get the word out! WHOSE children will be selected for this dangerous anthrax vaccine experiment, and for future "countermeasures" experiments?
