  • A Law to Restore Democracy in the Senate and the House of Representatives
Please take a look at the following petition submitted to Whitehouse.gov. The intent is to restore democracy within the Congress. I request that you help move this petition forward and help restore democracy and sanity to the Congress of the United States. It is anti-democratic, a concentrated abuse of power, and a frustration of the will of the American people to allow a minority of Congress to prevent bills and appointments from being voted on in Congress. A simple remedy is clearly needed. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/law-restore-democracy-senate-and-house-representatives/X3Q1TfMn we petition the obama administration to: A Law to Restore Democracy in the Senate and the House of Representatives 1) Any Senator or group of Senators may call a final vote on any bill before the Senate in the last 30 scheduled days of every annual session of the Senate. 2) Any Congressman of group of Congressmen may call a final vote on any bill before the House of Representatives in the last 30 scheduled days of every annual session of the House of Representatives. 3) Any Senator or group of Senators may call a final vote on a Presidential appointment any time 30 days or more after the President submits a Presidential appointment. I am a mother of three babies who unfortunately had to seperate and I find myself going through hard times and not being able to pay for my student loans. A month after I turned 18, I enrolled in college and was introduced to student loans. I finished my associates with a balance of $26, 000 in 2008 and I havent been able to finish my Bachelors. I am afraid of bringing the balance to a higher amount. I can not even afford this loan how would I be able to pay it all. I would love to finish my bachelors because I can not find any well paying positions that does not require a B.A. I feel like I am in a country full of opportunites but why cant I continue growing being a born USCitizen. I have friends who are not even US Citizens and they obtain money through FAFSA and gov't grants without even having loans to pay back. And I am not approved through FAFSA because I work witjout considering the fact that I have three babies and I am single. I qant to finish school and fulfill my dream of obtaining a Masters Degree. Please help.me give my children the opportunity of having an education.

  • Save the 96th Street Loop of the #19 Bus
We believe that service north of Castleton Square Mall is vital to the community. This loop will become even more important as a feeder to the new 86th Street Crosstown bus. Many people either depend upon our buses for work, shopping or simply getting around or enjoy the freedom of not having to own and drive a car or asking others for a ride.

  • Stop NV Energy Opt-Out Fees for Smart Meters
NVEnergy will now charge any customer who opts out of a smart meter a $53 opt-out fee. In addition to the $53 you will be charged an additional $9 a month. Smart meters have been shown to have a toxic effect from exposure to microwave and radio wave radiation the meters emit. They are also an invasion of privacy. We should not be charged fees to protect our Constitutional rights to protect the health and privacy of our families in our own homes.

  • Recall Congress members from every state.
Congress has not been doing their jobs. Now, they have exempted themselves from the Federal Pay Cuts taking place affecting 800,000 federal employees. They need to be recalled if they cannot do for the people as they were elected to do. They keep leaving Washington. We hired them. Let's fire them! They are currently getting paid for doing nothing but hurting those who hired them, and those who pay them! The 99% are the one suffering. Congress should not be getting paid while this debacle is taking place. It is time to take our country back!

  • 20% Congressional Pay Cut until Sequestration Ends
Hundreds of thousands of hard working Americans will see significant pay cuts as a result of Sequestration. Since Congress can't solve the problem, and because they too are on the Federal payroll, we propose a Congressional 20% pay reduction until Sequestration is resolved. Congress can either show solidarity with those negatively impacted by promoting this idea, or in opposing it, engender the ill will of their constituents.

  • Governor Perry: Allow the Medicaid expansion to go forward in the state of Texas
Texas has the highest proportion of the population living at or below the minimum wage in the nation. The expansion will help Texan's receive the care that they NEED, at lower cost, and without raising taxes on Texan's. We demand Governor Perry allow the expansion to go through as Republican Governor Chris Christie recently allowed in New Jersey.

  • Forget any Grand Bargain with the Republicans
As a Social Security and Medicare recipient as well as a politically aware person, I pointedly note the obvious, that any attempt to deal constructively with the Republicans is absolutely impossible. Further, attempting to reach a Grand Bargain with the Republicans through hurting those dependent on vital entitlements such as Social Security and Medicare is unconscionable, as well as ineffective,as the Republican lawmakers are but children posturing as adults. Those of us who are pro-people and progressive must demand that the President be as firm with the Republicans as the sequester has proved them to be irresponsible.
