Amend Daylight Saving TimeDaylight Saving Time (DST) interferes with many social life styles, sleep paterns and work cycles etc. By shortening the amount of time from one hour to a 1/2 an hour would decrease the negative effects that it causes to our society. HPNAP FUNDING AT RISKOn January 22 Govenor Cuomo proposed a decrease in funding and a major restructuring of NYS Heath and Anti-hunger programs. Cuomo has proposed a $13 million overall cut, which would remove the Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP). This would result in a decrease to ALL emergency food cupboards/agencies. HPNAP Is a crucial source of food and funds for thousands of food pantries, soup kitchens and SHELTERS across the state. Most Emergency Food Pantries won't be able to sustain enough food and NYS produce to provide for their communities if this proposal isn't stopped. Maybe your community is doing well financially and this isn't as urgent for them, but please take the time and sign for the communities and families that need these programs to survive.37 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Melanie Deignan

Teachers Retirement DiscriminationWhen the vote was taken in 2008 to allow BOE employees to transfer out of the TDC (Teachers Defined Contribution) to the old Teachers Defined Benefits there were several people in WV who did not understand what was going on or who were off sick and did not vote. Those employees are forever stuck in a plan that is not equal to those who transferred and to all new employee being hired. Those locked in the TDC plan will never accumulate enough money to be able to retire. I personally one of those who does not have enough to retire on in the TDC plan, but if I could tranfer to the TRS I would be entitled to 36% of my current salary for the rest of my life......so unfair. Please correct this injustice to Teachers and Service personnel245 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Birdie Gandy

Tell Your Senators to Confirm Richard Cordray and Let the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Do..."Never before in American history has a minority in the Senate blocked a nominee to try to get changes in a law they don't like and don't have the votes to change.” - Senator Elizabeth Warren. She's talking about the 43 Senators who have threatened to block Rich Cordray's re-nomination as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. They don’t question his qualifications or his performance up to now; their grievance is with the CFPB itself. They want changes that would undermine its funding, independence, and effectiveness before they will allow a vote on Cordray or any other nominee for the post.403 of 500 SignaturesCreated by James Lardner

Make Women's Equality a Reality in New York!New York is the birthplace of women's rights. Yet 165 years later, the dreams of the Seneca Falls Convention remain out of reach for millions of mothers, daughters and sisters in our state. Women earn $11,000 less, on average, then their male counterparts, and are twice as likely to become single parents living in poverty. It is time for New York to lead again! Governor Cuomo has issued a clarion call for equality: Equal Work. Equal Pay. Equal Choice. Equal Chance. Equal Rights. His 10-point Women’s Equality Agenda proposes to make fairness a reality for the women of New York. It addresses a wide array of barriers facing women, including restrictions on access to reproductive health care; income inequality; discrimination based on pregnancy and family status, source of income, and domestic violence; and the practice of human trafficking, among others. Let's make it the law. Wait List Priority for Seniors/People with Disabilites who live in Mentally and/or Physically Abu...Due to not enough housing available for the older adult population, I have been on wait lists for the past 2 years for affordable housing. I have been recently been declared disabled and live in a mentally abusive, possibly physically abusive situation. I have tried contacting every agency available in Linn/Benton county to advocate for me to get into housing sooner on wait lists due to my living situation. There are no agencies or laws to intervene in this matter. Even after letters from health care professionals and personal mental therapists relaying how unhealthy my living situation is - these have been cast aside and have no weight in this matter. I'm am STILL living in fear of not knowing what will happen next? I am sure there are others, like myself, in this type of situation. There should be exceptions on housing wait lists for those of us who are living with the same adversities.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Evelyn OKeefe

Austerity is a proven failure; we need a stimulus program! Are you like me? Filled with anxiety over the future for you and your kids and their kids? For your retirement? For your continued capacity to even pay your bills? All the while our nation slogs through the reckless sabotage of our president's economic recovery proposals, -- even as our deficit shrinks, as our corporations profit and the stock market booms, --- our workers continue to suffer. Something is basically upside-down and it is time to set it right!114 of 200 SignaturesCreated by MaryEllen Kersch

California Healthcare Cost and Billing ActCharges for medical services bear little relation to cost to the provider, and vary widely, often hitting the most vulnerable hardest. Without notice the patient receives an outrageous bill. Current state law has somehow not protected victims of the abuses. That law should be clarified. Medical providers not complying with law should forfeit.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Steve Lawrence
