• Amendd IC 35-42-3.5
This law needs to be re-examined. First, the statue of limitations is two years for victims to seek retribution. There should be no statute of limitations. Secondly, victims of human trafficking should not have a felony on their record, a fact the state of Michigan has just supported. Felons will not be able to get a well-paying job and will have no choice but to go back to their pimp and face unspeakable punishment/s from him/her.

  • Retinstate $15 billion to CA Health and Human Services
In the past 3 years the state of CA has cut $15 billion in services to the most vulnerable low income disabled and elderly. Cuts to programs such as In Home Support Services for the home bound and disabled and Medi-Cal (Medicaid in CA), have brought devastating results. I suffer from non-HIV AIDS and have lost long time good care caregivers as a result of the cuts. Because of this loss I contracted a severe skin parasite as I had to turn to an unqualified volunteer to help me who was not conscientious about telling me if he had anything contagious wrong with him. Also due to the privatization of MediCal into managed care I no longer have a doctor as the managed care company does not allow home visits as I am completely home bound.

  • Gambling in Kentucky
This country is becoming a country of fast money and moochers. If you can't get it fast, let's get it from someone else. Gambling doesn't solve problems, it creates them!

  • Legal Immigration Should Not Be A Waiting Game!
In the debate over immigration, something that confuses a lot of folks is the question of why so many people immigrate illegally in the first place. While it might sound reasonable to ask that immigrants "just do it the legal way" the truth is that our legal immgration process in this country is long, costly, confusing and frustrating. It often takes an average of 10 years or more, thousands of dollars and endless hearings and paperwork for the average Mexican or South/Central American worker to immigrate legally and "do things the right way." In the mean time, lack of opportunity and extreme poverty drives many to be willing to risk life and limb to have a chance to work hard and take care of their families by crossing the border, so that the choice may very well be "break the law or let my family starve." So many otherwise level headed progressive minded people just don't get why aspiring Americans don't "just do things by the book." As the White House prepares to offer its groundbreaking immigration reform bill, please join me in telling Congress and the President to commit streamline the path to becoming an American and commit to a path to citizenship in less than 7 years!

  • UCLA, stop robbing your patients
UCLA Medical Center is charging patients a $150 "hospital facility fee" for every regular visit to their doctor's office. I have several health issues and see 3 specialists on a regular basis at UCLA and have thousands of dollars in fees I cannot afford to pay. With more than 200 doctors only seeing a mere 10 patients a week, UCLA is making $300,000 per week at a bare minimum from this fee alone.

  • Save the Federal TRiO Programs (for low income Americans)
With the pending cuts to discretionary funding, the federal TRiO Programs (born out of the civil rights movement of the 1960s) is extremely vulnerable. Thousands of low income students of all ages, veterans, and citizens across the country stand to lose these vital academic support services, and already over 40,000 Americans have lost these services. Please sign to protect the TRIO programs from further cuts and possible elimination.

  • Put Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
A major influence on a variety of rock and roll performers who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a pioneer in developing the music and style that became rock and roll. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without her is not a true Hall of Fame.
