Eliminate the unfair tax treatment of capital gainsThe vast majority of us make the vast majority of our income from wages paid for our labor, but our labor is considered somehow less worthy than the investment, risk, or speculation that results in capital gains. Under the recent "fiscal cliff" agreement, the capital gains rate went all the way up to 20% from the obscenely low rate of 15%, but this still strongly favors speculation over labor. It is time that all income be treated equally from a tax perspective. Income is income, after all.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dr. Greg Slocum

Extend the Las Vegas monorail systemThe Las Vegas monorail was a great idea that because of political pressures wasn't implemented to its full potential. In its current form the system doesn't service visitors effectively, because it doesn't go to the airport or downtown. Expanding the system would create jobs for a state with the highest unemployment rate in the country and transform the current system into a viable, effective system that would serve the needs of transporting Las Vegas visitors and provide a hub for future expansion to the rest of the Las Vegas valley.212 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Daniel Safbom

National Holiday Celebrating American AthleticsThe time has come and is in fact long past due for the Congress of the United States of America to set aside partisan bickering, partisan brinkmanship, and partisan animosities and to clearly demonstrate to the American people that Congress can work together, can get things done. The time has come, and without further delay, to establish a national holiday celebrating American Athletics, and what better day than the day following the most American of sporting events... The Super Bowl? Celebration of all sports, all ages...from Coach pitch to the World Series, from PeeWee football to the Super Bowl, from the Soap Box Derby to the Daytona 500, from Cornhole to the PGA. From grade school championships and participation to the Olympic games and professional championships. The time has come for Congress to step up, to do the right thing, to show the world that yes, we can get things done. The need is great, the purpose noble, and the time is now...for a national holiday celebrating American Athletics!13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Thomas Strimbu

Abolish Maryland's Death PenaltySince 1865, 83.5% of the people executed in Maryland have been black. In 2013, blacks make up 80% of Maryland's death row population, 77% of Maryland's prison and jail population, and 76.1% of the state's prisoners with life sentences. In 2011, I personally witnessed the execution in Georgia of an innocent black man. The man's name was Troy Anthony Davis. Similar mistakes happened in Maryland and will happen again unless we abolish Maryland's death penalty. Let's do so before April 8, 2013, when Maryland's legislative session ends.198 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Thomas Ruffin, Jr., Legal Counsel of Maryland Coalition for Justice & Progressive Change

Make it Illegal to Gas Animals in MissouriJanuary 31Posted to Make it a National law to mak… by Inthename This is in regard to a method of sending large numbers of poor unwanted and often sick animals across The Bridge still widely used across our nation that is in fact nothing short of Animal Cruelty. This needs to be stopped. The animals suffer terribly on their way out of this hateful world. Before they pass, they suffer through on average 40 minutes of first steady anxiety as they're packed into the death cage one by one then outright fearfulness as they're then locked in... exploding into sheer terror as they're plunged into total blackness, erupting into violet fighting with one another- defecating and vomiting convulsively as they gasp desperately but in vain for air that's suddenly but permanently, mercilessly no longer there. Even some, honestly, I wonder if aren't scared to death in the process. This is totally wrong and against the laws of nature, so why not the laws of our states? This law should be directed at the shelters using this technique of punishment, which in fact it is, a punishment none of these innocent ones ever deserve. How can this type of torture be called "euthanasia"? Along with 30 other states, Missouri is still using this horrific method of execution. Please help us, the undersigned, in the fight against this all-too-widespread form of animal abuse through gassing by not just making it illegal to send animals to a dumpster by this process, but by making it illegal to even construct or own any such devices used to carry out such a terrible crime against nature and the innocent ones that trust us the most. Shameful. There is just no other word for it.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Deborah Jean Goode Mrs.

Stop The City From Taking Your HomeHELP CHANGE THIS LAW!!! This is a serious issue. The law states that if you owe back property taxes for more than 2 years the third year the city you live in takes your home and kicks you out! No matter how much you owe wether it be a thousand dollars or a couple of thousand, if you can't come up with the money to pay it off your out in the street. How is this fair?? Especially when the value of your home is worth far more??? I heard of an elderly woman who couldn't pay her taxes and she lost her home! This law is totally unfair! There are other ways to punish people. What right does the city have to take your home and turn around and sell it??? They didn't pay for the home. The American Dream of owning your own home is a nightmare! worrying if you will have the money to pay your property taxes, worrying if your going to lose your home to the city. How is that a way to live????14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Caren DaMocogno
