Johnson County Seats has been providing paratransit services for the elderly and people with disabilities since the mid-1970's. SEATS has been my main means of transportation for 17 years. Currently they are providing close to 500 rides a day and the demand is growing. Iowa City and the Johnson County Board of Supervisors are threatening to dismantle SEATS. Hundreds of people with disabilities, as well as their families, friends, and support systems, would be negatively impacted by this financially and politically driven decision.

My mother in law is in serious declining health and she will need constant supervision and will need to go to a skilled nursing facility or assistant living and the cost of doing that is beyond her ability.

Violent content in our entertainment industry has escalated over the years and by anyone's standards, is a contributing factor in the desensitization of society to brutality, bloodshed, and horror. Through video games, TV, films, and more, people have become immune to the devastating effects of real-life violence toward others. Isn't this how some cultures have dehumanized their enemies in the past? The effects are real and should be examined.

Ohio is listed as close to California in rate hikes in double digits. My wife and, seniors in stable health, were hit with hikes of 18 and 16%. The Ohio Dept of Insurance should have the clout to hold such increases to single digits (New York State does--no more than 10%) especially as health care costs for 2013 are projected at 7.5%.

Though Tony Romo is a great quaterback at times, he continues to be a liability to the Cowboys when it comes to making the playoffs, and even more so when it comes to winning in the playoffs. The Cowboys have had great receiving corps throughout Tony Romo's career with the Dallas Cowboys. It's time to find a quarterback who wants to throw them touchdown passes, rather than the defenders that he seems to find more often than not. His unreliability has let his teammates down, as well as Dallas Cowboy fans.
