Legislation for traumatic homeless veterans and childrenPeople should be concerned about the issue of homeless veterans and children. We need our legislators to amend H.R. 1560, Public Safety Second Amend Rights Protection act of 2013. Example: My father served in Korea and Vietnam War. My mother was pregnant during that time, and inheritance rights were denied, even though I was his only child and he was inducted and died while on active duty. Today, deceased veterans' children cannot qualify for VA housing eligibility. Our legislators still have not served this underserved population in spite of our trauma and the need for housing and care deserved. There are too many homeless veterans and children, many still in developmental stages. Death of a family member is traumatic, and vulnerable people need protection.74 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rashidah Ali

Support Rep. Lofgren's 'Aaron's Law'One of the brightest and most active young leaders of the internet generation, Aaron Swartz, took his life last week. He did so at least in part due to over-zealous prosecution of a violation of a Terms of Service breach; a violation that had already been resolved between Swartz and the institution that was affected. This sort of violation should be treated as any other civil breach of contract, rather than as a criminal offense.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mark Johnston

Let's put God back in our schoolsAfter all the school shootings that have taken place in our country all we do is look for a scape goat. When the real blame should be in ourselves as a nation. We have stepped away from God and the bible and taken away the very reason to act as a civilized peoples. Let's put the Ten Commandments back in our schools as well as singing the Pledge of Alegiance in the morning at every school. One nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all25 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Travis Miller

Common sense in gun regulationI have not been personally affected by gun violence, but I am sick of seeking news articles about people critically injured and killed by guns. The NRA's explanation that better treatment of mental illness would prevent gun violence is absurd. I support a ban on assault weapons, limits to rounds of ammunition, and background checks on all gun purchases. Everyone should be concerned about this as everyone could be, or already has been, affected by gun violence.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Agnes McCabe

Banning Deadly FireAssault weapons must be banned. My beloved country is riddled with powerful, unnecessary weapons. It is just a matter of time before a huge tragedy will occur.65 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jane Singer

Without some regulation of guns, let's white out the second amendmentWe need more reasonable limitations on the excessive killing guns. If the NRA doesn't want to work with the government in creating those limits, then they should be given a dose of their own medicine with an extreme remedy of eliminating the constructional amendment that empowers it.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lizabeth mcKibben

President Obama: Stop letting Big Banks deduct their settlement payouts from their taxesGreedy and criminal Wall Street bankers stole our homes, our savings, and our jobs while destroying our economy. Now that some Big Banks are agreeing to settlements to repay small portions of the destruction they caused, the IRS says they can deduct the cost of those settlements from their taxes. We pay twice and they get away with it! The Administration's top priority should be helping struggling homeowners stay in their homes and avoid foreclosure, not padding the bottom lines of Wall Street barons. Join the Home Defenders League in fighting back against this infuriating practice. (Apologies for the typo in the body of the petition. It should read "Too big to jail".)317 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Nathan Henderson-James
