If the Second Amendment falls, the remainder of the foundations of this Republic will fall with it. The Second Amendment, followed by the First Amendment, are the pillars of this great Nation.

As a responsible gun owner, I feel that all of us who own guns do have a responsibility to maintain and secure our weapons.

In light of the recent horrific events in Connecticut, the time to act to regulate guns is now. Here is an idea that people on any side of the argument should have no problem supporting. 1. People who own guns should be required to carry insurance in case the weapon is used to murder or maim anyone - by themselves or someone else. The insurance would be used to cover their medical bills and funeral costs as well as pain and suffering. We are all required to carry auto insurance. If someone is at fault in an accident, the other person's medical bills are covered. 2. Those who sell guns and ammunition should be required to ensure the person has insurance and a license for the ammunition and the weapon. If not, the seller should be liable.

We need to stop this school shootings. I feel that mental illness in teens and young adolescents goes untreated. Parents, family members and friends of mentally ill or suffering children need to be educated on their behaviors and what to look for.

Evil exist in the world laws will not stop it

I am heartbroken by the violent loss of life in Connecticut. And like so many other people, I want to help the families and communities that are hurting directly and hurting most. But it's not enough to help out after the fact. We don't just need response; we need prevention.

Stop the war against Mental Health!!!

My petition is to target our members of Congress to make some changes in the laws regarding three (3) items that are out of control, and they are the only one's who can change them. 1. Term limits: as most Congress members have made careers out of politics, they need to pass a law that imposes a two (2) four year limit on term as a Congress member. So as to eliminate the corruption that comes with career politics. 2. Campaign finance reform: I don't have the specifics, but campaign finance reform will eliminate big business and corporate America from buying career politicians. (See change 1 above). 3. Abolish Lobbying: Lobbying used to be called bribery and was illegal. Somehow the name was changed to lobbying, yet the crime is still being committed on a daily basis. We need to stop lobbying in Washington D.C.

Tragedies have occurred across America as the result of the ease of access to purchase guns and assault rifles. Innocent lives have been lost, families have been shattered, hearts have been broken throughout our country. Since the tragedy at Columbine rocked the nation, countless tragedies have followed with no action from lawmakers.
