Ban Credit Checks for Non-Financial PositionsMany states have already banned the discriminatory practice of checking credit ratings before offering employment but many have yet to catch up. This petition is in effort to raise awareness to Government Officials at all levels in Massachusetts that this practice is discriminatory and elitist in nature. It prevents those who have recently fallen on hard times through no fault of their own from joining the workforce again and being productive members of society. I urge you to take a stand for the hard working Massachusetts residents that want to work. US States That Took Action to Eliminate Credit Checks in Non-Financial Employment * In the Northeast: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, Maryland, Pennsylvania. * In the Midwest: Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, * In the South: Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina * In the South/West: Texas, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Arkansas * In the West: California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Nebraska4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Thompson

Add your voice in support of the free and open InternetThe Internet empowers everyone — anyone can speak, create, learn, and share. It is controlled by no one — no single organization, individual, or government. It connects the world. Today, more than two billion people are online — about a third of the planet. But not all governments support the free and open Internet. There is a growing backlash on Internet freedom. Forty-two countries filter and censor content. In just the last two years, governments have enacted 19 new laws threatening online free expression. Some of these governments are trying to use a closed-door meeting in December to regulate the Internet. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is bringing together regulators from around the world to re-negotiate a decades-old communications treaty. Proposed changes to the treaty could increase censorship and threaten innovation. Some proposals could permit governments to censor legitimate speech — or even allow them to cut off Internet access. Other proposals would require services like YouTube, Facebook, and Skype to pay new tolls in order to reach people across borders. This could limit access to information — particularly in emerging markets. People around the world are standing up for freedom. Users, experts and organizations from around the world have voiced their opposition to governments regulating the Internet through the ITU.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Miguel Fernandez

No "No Tax Hike" PledgeA Washington lobbyist, Grover Norquist, not elected to anything, has been pushing a pledge, for years, that hogties congress people's ability to act on their own. They take an oath on entering congress, and should not be pressured to sign any other sort of pledge, or oath.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mitchell Dormont

City County CouncilThe prosecutor's office is a public office. It is housed in a privately owned building. The owner of the building prevents us from rallying at the prosecutor's office. This means a private citizen prevented the public from having access to a public office. We are asking the city county council to move the prosecutor's office to a building where the public has access.88 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rev. Mmoja Ajabu
