Moving! Beyond the Congressional Gridlock

This is about being fair. The government wants to reduce the entitlement programs for seniors and the poor. I am retired and for as much as I put into these programs while working and can hardly get by on what I receive. If we have to feel the pain then Congress and the White House should show the country that we are all in this together. It is easy to pass the cuts to the most vulnerable in our society and not have skin in the game.

The current process for forming labor unions is badly broken and so skewed in favor of those who oppose unions that workers must risk their jobs in order to form a union.One in five workers in our country are illegally fired for legal union activities..

FAFSA helps many students and some who honestly dont deserve it. In order to tell you what needs to be changed I must tell you my story. I am 22 years old and have been turned down numerous times because I can not provide my parents information. I left my house when I was seventeen because my mother was extremely abusive and have not spoken to her since. I grew up without a father, not even knowing his name. When I file for FAFSA they say I must provide my parents information and the only way that can be bypassed is if I am legally emancipated by court or married because that automatically makes me an adult. I have lived and provided for myself since I was 14 and I do not need a court to tell me what I already know. I know of many students whose parents lie on their FAFSA applications and get money that their parents can afford to pay. It's not fair that those who really need the help get turned down and all that is said is " I am sorry, many kids come in with this case but there is nothing I can do!" Please help me and other kids that can not get an education because the rules do not favor each and every realistic circumstance possible.

Social Security does not affect the budget and only is part of the debt because past Congress used the money to pay for bills they did not raise taxes enough to pay for before. It has always paid its own way. There is no reason for a limit on contributions.

The outlying reaches of the USA are dependent on the USPS for survival. Businesses will suffer if USPS is privatized and individuals who depend on the mail would be affected. Many persons recieve their prescription medications by mail. Many USPS offices are already scheduled to close. Private carriers would not serve small or hard to reach towns bacause of high cost and low profit. The consititution has provided for this vital service to it's citizens and congress can save it. Please help.
