In order to deal with the upcoming fiscal crisis, there should be no cuts to entitlement programs

The 2006 Congress undermined the financial stability of the Postal Service when it enacted a law that required the postal service to “pre-fund” retiree health benefits seventy-five years into the future, and in an unrealistic 10 year period. With $44 billion now in the fund, The Postal Service inspector general has said that program is already stronger than any other equivalent government or private-sector fund in the country. There already is more than enough in the account to meet all obligations to retirees, yet Congress has been unwilling to pass responsible legislation to keep it solvent. Rural Post Offices are being reduced & some closed. America's Postal Service is facing being dismantled and privatized as result of the inaction of Congress. This agency provides middle income wage earning jobs, many to our veterans returning home. Replacing these jobs with non-career, low- wage, support personnel is damaging to this already ailing economy and totally unnecessary. Mr. President, only the White House Administration can intervene to stop this.

Many of us depend on these services here in Nevada as well as the rest of The United States and we urge you to please remember us when you are negotiating the budget compromise with the Republicans and President Obama. I can personally say that any cost of living increases we receive on our Social Security goes directly back into the economy immediately and without the Medicare benefits I don't know how we'd be making it at all. Seniors and the disabled deserve your consideration on this matter.

Protect our senior citizens present and future and our poor!! Don't cut the Safety net to give more tax breaks to the wealthy!

My son is 29 and his father still owes $67,000.00 in back child support. I've had a child support order in affect since 1987. Because his father lives in another state it has been very difficult to collect. This is a moral as well as legal obligation and the federal government and states have not worked hard enough to enforce the laws.

The President must not bargain away what people need and are entitled to, a safety net. The cuts previously proposed we're too severe and would have hurt the people who need the help the most, the middle class and the poor.

The Republican controlled legislature in Florida just passed a law making texting and driving legal. Studies show this is more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol. This needs to be reversed as soon as possible. I have had friends involved in accidents because of drivers texting behind the wheel.

If both houses of Congress will not cooperate with each other & the President of the United States, then both houses should not get paid if there is any more obstructionism.

Right now, Governors get health care insurance paid for, in part, by our taxpayer dollars. Yet many Governors claim they will refuse to implement the Affordable Care Act (AKA "Obamacare") for their constituency. I think it is very wrong for them to enjoy a benefit to which we contribute via tax dollars while they threaten to deny us a healthcare insurance which we would pay for out of our pockets and with our taxpayer dollars. I want to change that. Why should we pay for theirs while they won't let us pay for our own?

With the need to project an image of power, believing that this will act to protect the U.S., we have allowed the military mindset and our military response machinery to determine our foreign policies. If we gird for WAR, we will respond with WAR, rather than restraint and wisdom. President Dwight Eisenhower warned of the power of the military industrial complex. If peace WERE PROFITABLE we would have peace! We need a cabinet-level Department of Peace. Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich should be named as its head!

i am a registered nurse , presently in Oncology. The present healthcare insurance management is inadequate and unfair. The costs have been predicted . the benefit of having a single payer healthcare system is known. President Obama's original plan is what needs to happen , not the watered- down version we have .

Various Republican WI State Legislators have threatened to arrest anyone who tries to implement President Obama's Affordable Health Care Law, which is now federal law, and it has been upheld by the US Supreme Court as Constitutional.
